Cool interview. I liked when he was talking about people playing the game and finding their own style for each of the characters, because he felt you should be able to play the game however you want. I was just talking with someone about that recently, and how a lot of fighting games (notably Street Fighter) kind of force you play each character a certain way, like you basically have one effective strategy per character and any attempt at doing something different or unique won’t let you play the game competitively.
Too few games in this genre really allow much creativity in how you play them. I’m glad to hear BlazBlue was designed with the idea of rewarding players with imagination rather than penalizing them.
