@sasori: In case you hadn’t noticed, there IS going to be a collectors edition, even for PS3. They said it themselves in this article

In fact, they’re asking US what we want in the collectors edition. And besides, I don’t think the European PS3 version has the extra content from Reappearance.

@stranger: Doesn’t the EU version already have the extras? Or most of them at least? I think the EU publishers would be the ones to decide what goes in the game over there. As for them affecting the rating… no idea? It’s always possible I guess (Europe has different standards and ratings).

@Shadowchaser: Well, what’s in a collectors edition? Usually the game, artbook, soundtrack, etc. The only difference would be they exclude the game. I’m just saying, it’s not outside the realm of possibility.

As for the dubbing thing, I completely agree, I usually don’t like dubs either. I have no idea if Sony has that rule, but that reason makes more sense then Aksys intentionally pissing off PS3 owners. They know what they’re doing, and they wouldn’t release the PS3 version download-only unless they had no other choice.

I understand that different console releases might come with extras. But why are the extra based on *REGION*? The US player will get the extras while the EU gamers have to do without them!

why is that? Would those extras effect the rating of the game in the EU? What about the xbox360 version, would it be release in the EU (with the extras)? or will it be regional locked to the US ONLY?

Honestly, your reasons may be correct, but I’d like to hear that from the Aksys people myself. It’d be nice to find out why they’re giving more to the Xbox side of the equation. If the dub-only reason is true, I’d also like to know a good place where we can give Sony a piece of our mind about being shortchanged this way. I’ve never cared about dubs, I generally despise their horrid quality and I prefer to see movies(or any other form of entertainment) in their original language even if the dub isn’t awful.

@Shadowchaser: To quote someone else from the forums “I’ve heard in various places that SCEA (i.e., Sony America) has a hard rule saying that games for the PS3, for the US market, must have an English dub included. Apparently that rule can be circumvented by making a game download-only. I would guess that’s why Aksys is not / cannot release the PS3 version as a retail product. Ghostlight is based in Europe, so they wouldn’t fall under SCEA’s jurisdiction, and thus they could release a retail game without a dub.”.

Plus, it’s way too early to rule out the possibility of a collectors edition, even for the PS3 version.

Okay, after re-reading the first paragraph, I realize what you guys are doing. You’re selling a retail version on the Xbox, and a download-only version on the PS3. Just doesn’t pay to be a PS3 fan with you guys, does it?

Looks like I’ll just have to be happy with my Ghostlight version of the game. With any luck, they’ll eventually update it with trophies, but even if not, I’d much rather have a physical copy of the game than a download hogging space on my HD.

I’m very disappointed in this announcement. You said this one would prove why we should get your version instead of the import version? Sorry, but you were very wrong. Unless you announce a retail version, no sale.

I’m going to enjoy my nice, spiffy 48 page hardcover artbook, my posters, and other goodies I’m getting with my collector’s edition. Better luck next time.

I wish you guys hadn’t delayed the PS3 version just because of the 360 one, but I guess getting the extra content helps make up for that. Still a first day download for me. I might have preferred a disc, but I did get that 320G HDD for a reason.

I don’t like DD either, that is why I will get the 360 version. And I don’t want to import the EU PS3 version because it has no trophies and none of the extras in Re:Appearance that Akysys is putting into their version. So logically, the best thing is to get the 360 version. If you understand Japanese and want the Japanese 360 version, that’s cool too.

@WildArms: Can’t really say I like the digital distribution route, but I guess I understand. I ranted on forever about DD before so I’ll keep quite about it here. I’ve just decided to import a Japanese 360 and get the Japanese edition of the game plus some Cave shooters I really love. It’ll save me in quarters at the arcade, and force me to practice my Japanese more.

@infiniteNine: well we are in the digital era… though i prefer phisical, at least we getting good stuff, the extra stuff we get is not just one character more… there are a lot more scenes, new characters (wich mean new scenes), i think it have new dugneons, gallery mode, we get..”better” scenes that the normal ps3 release have (and when i say better i mean “better ;D <33" , and we can even have trophies but if it doesnt changes your mind you can just import the european version (with less stuff)

@InfiniteNine: Topher got to it before me, but yes, our PS3 version is the beefed-up version. The screenshots I posted of the syrium (elf-looking chick) and the bound-up woman in red are a glimpse of the 360 additions, which are included in our PSN version.
