Deathsmiles, the bullet-hell smash hit, comes to the U.S on the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.
Torrance, CA (January 18, 2010) – Aksys Games, a publisher of interactive entertainment products, announces the gothic-lolita shmup hit that took Japan by storm, Deathsmiles, for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.
Enter the world of Gilverado, a kingdom plagued by hideous monsters and tortured souls. Choose from four angels with unique demonic familiars and battle against a storm of enemies pouring out of Hell’s gates! Fight your way out of tight spots as you are surrounded by enemy units and bullets from both sides of the screen. The unique left/right shooting mechanic of Deathsmiles will keep you on your toes as you dodge and weave through complex enemy fire, beautifully crafted by the modern masters of shmups, CAVE.
Triggering “Power-up mode” will unleash great streams of golden crowns, white tiaras, and grey skulls as you cut through enemies with your little angel’s mighty magic shot. Try not to get distracted by the bling as you collect these gorgeous trinkets en masse and pump your high score to the limit!
“Most shooters feature space ships heroically charging through bullet showers to kill some alien nuisance,” says Cherie Baker, PR Specialist. “With Deathsmiles, you’ve got little girls flying through a gothic otherworld to destroy the horrific, necrotic Imperator Tyrannosatan. Really, what could top that!?”
Deathsmiles Key Features:
-

This will be retail, right?
Thank you so much!
Aksys, you are god! Become the one who will be bringing those hottest Cave shmups to the west coast. In fact, be the one who will ignite the shmups trend!
Ah, here it goes! Here comes the crazy train – whoo whoo!
Thanks a bunch.
YES! THANK YOU! I am buying 2 copies.
Can we get a bonus soundtrack, pretty please?
will this be region-free or locked to the NA market like Blazblue?
Region-free for US/PAL? Pls, pls, pls? Or release it in Europe at the same time?
Aksys, I have a website for you.
http://www.shooternotshmup.com/
KID CHAINSAW: The word can be shmup or whatever, so don’t come here and try to show us how to get the word right. Get lost man and show some respect dude!
On a more serious note, great job Aksys. Many of us US players will be more than happy with your job, localizating Cave games. You won’t only benefit the american shmup market, many of us, european players have a US 360, so it’s a big deal bringing such amazing games here.
Keep up the good work Aksys and I’m pretty sure sales will be great, enough for some more Cave games publishings
Are you high!?! Here’s a link for you…

Will I be able to play online with people from my Japanese copy, and is there any incentives for me to pick up the US copy over the Japanese LE I’m planning on getting? Also will the US copy work on an NTSC-J 360?
Any chance of you guys making a PS3 port of this? I mean, it was so important for you to bring the 360 version of Record of Agarest War over here, when there wasn’t really any demand for it, going so far as to delay the PS3 version, wouldn’t it only be fair to bring this to your Sony-owning fans, too?
@clupula: That would likely depend on the developers. If the makers of the game SKU a PS3 version then Aksys can probably produce it.
@clupula: I was wishing for a 360 port of Agarest, and so are many other 360 users. No way would I have gotten a digital PS3 version, so I’m very happy for Aksys making a retail version for us. And I’m glad they’re bringing Deathsmiles to the 360 too!
Hell yes!
In this case, unlike with Agarest, the PS3 version kind of doesn’t even exist. Cave doesn’t do a lot of console ports to begin with: it’s extremely unlikely they’ll make an exception for the US release of one game.
Ouch, doesn’t effect me much since my roomie has all three major console but that’s rough for PS3 owners.
Thanks for bringing this over to the States. I honestly still can’t fully believe it. I will be purchasing 3 copies just to show my support of this decision by Aksys Games and to share with my friends. Seriously, for me, this is the best gaming news in half a decade.
Please make Death Smiles REGIONFREE so Europeans can enjoy it too!
Waiting months for BlazBlue to finally arrive in Europe was so frustrating! I don’t think I’m going to play this waiting game again…Regioncoding sucks and encourages piracy.
Hello Aksys,
Great news to see that this game will be available for NA market! Cave games are amazing!
Can you make it Region free, so we -European shoot em up lovers- can buy it directly from you?
Thank you!!
Registered just to add to the calls to make the localisation port region free. There are surely plenty of european customers ready to part with the cash to import this game.
Registered also to add support.
I bought the Japanese version and it is one of Caves most accessible shooters.
I am in the UK also and would love to see this Region free or better yet get a European publisher.
As has been said before we don’t even have Blazblue yet.
I just saw you guys are bringing over Cho Aniki too, you are so awesome. Could you please throw in the Deathsmiles soundtrack with it? The music for this game is some of the best of this console generation.
Great news! Thanks a lot for localizing this awesome game from CAVE. Hopefully more of them to come! I’m ordering as soon as it’s possible to.
Im in the UK but if this gets an LE I will be buying one just for the extras. The Blazblue LE was very good!
In Norway here but registred just to also request that Deathsmiles becomes regionfree.
Thank you so much Aksys!! I hope this leads to more Cave localizations.
Registered here just to celebrate the good news of you bringing Deathsmiles to the US! And please make it region-free. A lot of Europeans like me are waiting to play this game. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Awesome. If you have access to the game code, I have a suggestion for gameplay balance.
When the player uses a continue, restart the current level or go back to some reasonable checkpoint, to counter the fact that the continue doesn’t cost any money on the console.
In recent years, i can’t think of any other Shmup i wanted more to play, patience has been rewarded thanks to you
I can understand the lack of a PS3 version, but it still hurts.
Please, Please…Have a Disc version.I want to have the game case to display and brag about. Also Please bring the other awesome CAVE shooters too. Thanks and always a fan.
People are missing a complaint here. That complaint is the inaccuracy of the title of this post. At least half of those chicks have big boobs. NOT LOLI. D:
I demand pictures of each character individually so that we may see if any are truly loli.
