Record of Agarest War releases today on Xbox 360®video game and entertainment system and Thursday April 29th on the PlayStation®Store!

Torrance, CA (Tuesday April 27th, 2009) – Aksys Games, a publisher of interactive entertainment products, announces its first epic SRPG, with Record of Agarest War for the Xbox 360 to coincide with the previously announced PlayStation Network version. In this game developed by Compiled Heart, RED Entertainment, and Idea Factory, SRPG fanatics will finally be able to play a game worthy of the genre. Sporting over one hundred hours of gameplay, Record of Agarest War invites players into a gorgeous, expansive world of hope and despair. Players will wage war against the evil forces of darkness, take a bride—actually, several brides— and extend their lineage across five generations!

“As the release of Record of Agarest War nears, spirits are high here,” says Ben Bateman, Localization Editor, Aksys Games, struggling to be heard over a scene reminiscent of the end of Return of the Jedi. “The discs have been pressed, the mousepads fully tested, and the downloads uploaded. We feel confident that this game is poised to bring happiness to untold thousands. Candidly, anyone who does not feel elation at our impending release may have lost the capability to do so.”

Ben takes a sip from his champagne, and watches as Mike Manzanares, Producer, Aksys Games, and Gail Salamanca, Marketing Director, Aksys Games, leap screaming into the celebratory ball pit.

“Is there any greater joy,” he asks, lifting his flute in a toast, “than seeing a project to completion? Aside from delicious sausage, I certainly can’t think of any.”

So what are you waiting for? Get down to your game store and buy it already! For those purchasing online at the PlayStation Store it’s only $44.99. Hurry up, don’t keep the girls waiting.

That big lug of steamy sausage will be in my mouth soon enough!
    I’ve never seen Jedi…

@matty: Admittedly, I took some creative liberties. They didn’t have champagne in Jedi, or a ball pit–at least so far as I know.

Matty, you’ve never seen Jedi? That’s practically sacrilege. You’re making all Star Wars fans weep.

That being said, I really want to jump into a giant ball pit now. Box set, you’ll be in my hands soon!

Coolio. I’ll buy it as soon as the store updates!
    Then proceed to download…
2 GB stuffs are short downloads, so it shouldn’t take more than 10 hours!
    I hope…
And Yay to price, I saved the right amount o.o

You said “the downloads uploaded” and “For those purchasing online at the PlayStation Store it’s only $44.99. Hurry up, don’t keep the girls waiting.” does that mean the PSN version is getting released today, or do we have to wait until Thursday to get it?

How can you not even mention it requires over 18GB to even download? Some people aren’t even able to buy it at that size because it is simply too big for the hard drive. It shouldn’t be released at all in this state. Saying you have no choice in the matter just seems like you are saying you are fine with table scraps so your fans should be too…

Thing is, the newer PS3 Slims come with either a 250 or a 120 GB hard drive. So the newer PS3 owners have all that space normally… I bought a new HD a bit ago, since my “Fatboy” PS3 works perfectly fine – and in anticipation for the day my PS3 would be graced with this game… 2 Days left! o.o

signed up just to say Aksys you guys sux soooo much =/ thank you for making us buy this through the unreliable PSN network which must have EXACT WORDING + CAP of all the information for over 2 hours before caving in and driving 2 hours to get a 50 dollar PSN card and wondering what to do with the extra 5 dollars leftover. O and no cookies for you guys for not letting PS3 owners the chance to get the boob mousepad or the pillow case

PS. has been looking forward to this ever since it was announced in Japan thanks for the great work

Will you be giving the free DLC to the 360 version also? I bought the Limited Edition and had it on reserve the day you guys posted it. Hopefully you will support that version as well. Oh and I reserved Deathsmiles as well :) Awesome job guys!

    @lilmike99
Free DLC is the bonus that PS3 owners get, whereas 360 owners get the pervy pad and soundtrack along with a case…
They did that to make it fair, and I for one am content with cheaper and free… Well sorta… I really want the soundtrack tho…
    ———
Hey Aksys, Do you think you could set it up so we can buy the soundtrack somehow? Oh, and I’m checking the PS Store every half hour…

Hi! well i just wanted to say i got my Limited Edition package. One thing i REALLY HATE from it is it doesn’t have an INNER CARTON to protect the box during shipping AND as a long-term collectible! So what you get is the mousepad, pillow case and the game + soundtrack in a flimsy box that will self-destruct itself if you’re not careful with it. The mousepad is actually rolled inside that flimsy box. I got mine and the box was slightly damaged because Amazon.ca put some big air-filled bags inside a bigger box and it pushed on that flimsy box that is NOT PROTECTED against this kind of thing. so PLEASE’ Aksys, use an INNER CARTON for DeathSmiles’ big box to protect it, because i’m sure a lot of us here will keep these games as collectibles at the same time!

well i saw this game on the PSN and was like Holy your mother is a classy lady sweet i am going to buy this tonight. @darkgod
Well, that makes one more that will miss out on an incredibly awesome game because of stupid video games politics. It’s an extremely good game and the only reason why I’m not currently sitting on the couch as I play it (yes, I’m playing it right now) was because I wanted to check online about info for the soundtrack (I own a PS3 but no 360, so I was wondering if they have any news on how I could get it). But seriously, you want to miss out? Only because the 360 gets a limited edition and a case? What a pity…

The music in-game is the best ever… I wanna has the soundtrack…

I bought this game from my local gamestop and when i saw the box I was like “wow, now i see why you guys gotta keep it behind the counter. This looks like a porno.”, though I can’t wait to soul breed.

I bought it, and 7 hours later it finished downloading. I was buzzing from the Jager and beer that I didn’t really care. So far, I have only played it for an hour but I’m loving every minute of it! Just wish Aksys can put the soundtrack on the PSN in the future, cause PS3 owners got hosed on this one. Damn SCEA and their “Make it in English language or release it on PSN” protocall.
