Fate/EXTRA Will be Released in North America on 11/1/11

TORRANCE, Calif. – September 12, 2011 – Aksys Games, a publisher of interactive entertainment software, is proud to announce that Fate/EXTRA, the RPG based on the hit series Fate/stay night, will be coming to North America on 11/1/11! Developed by respected Japanese RPG developers Imageepoch and TYPE-MOON, Fate/EXTRA will be released for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system in North America. An all new scenario that takes place in the wildly popular Fate/stay night universe, Fate/EXTRA features a cast of new characters and fan favorites, a unique, easy to understand battle system, and a grand story of destruction, absolution, and deep insight into what it truly means to be human.

The North American Limited Edition will include some of the same sought-after items bundled with the Japanese version such as the special 15-page Fate Visual Works art book and the 11 song Limited Soundtrack. Fate/EXTRA will be released with an MSRP of $39.99 for the Limited Edition, $29.99 for the retail standard edition, and $24.99 for the PlayStation®Network download version.

Fate/EXTRA Story Elements:

Waking up in a strange virtual world with no recollection of the past, the main character finds themselves forced to fight for survival in a war they do not understand for a prize beyond value; the opportunity to have one’s wish granted. With only an enigmatic “Servant” by their side, the protagonist will have to face both friends and foes in battles to the death in order to not only gain possession of a mysterious object known as the “Holy Grail,” but also to find the answer to the most important question of all: “Who am I?”

Fate/EXTRA Key Features:

  • Intuitive, Fast-paced Battle System: Using Break, Attack, and Guard abilities in combination with powerful Special Moves and Code Casts, players are required to plan out their attacks to effectively counter their opponent’s moves and emerge victorious from potentially deadly encounters.
  • Engrossing Story: Written by the creator of the original Fate series of PC games, Kinoko Nasu, the story of Fate/EXTRA will not only appeal to long time fans of the Fate universe, via the inclusion of many familiar characters, but will also appeal to RPG fans looking for a deep, non-formulaic storyline that delves into such mature themes as loyalty, death, love, and what it means to be human.
  • Extensive replay value: Multiple story paths, each with their own unique dialog trees and character interactions that lead to different endings.

Interesting. The discounted price of the PSN version plus the fact that the artbook is only 15 pages has me leaning towards the PSN version.

Hi everyone! We’re getting the pre-order pages set up on Amazon as well, but if you can’t wait, we have it available for pre-order on GameStop’s site: http://www.gamestop.com/psp/fate-extra-limited-edition/93229

Also, if you pre-order from GameStop, there’s a special pre-order booklet that comes with it :)

I’m interested in this game but do you have to know anything about Fate/Stay Night to play it? I haven’t seen or played any of them.

Just preordered mine from Gamestop, hopefully it arrives in good condition (I live in the UK so it has to travel a bit to reach me!). Good luck with this release!

Definite but for me. I’ll try to pre-order the Limited Edition from my local Gamestop; the local shop kinda lost me as a client some time ago due to the incompetence of its team, but they just changed the employee roster this summer, and this batch seems a lot better, so I’ll give them a chance.

Why is the Fate/theFact book only available if you pre-order “on-line” at Gamestop? Why can’t you get the book if you order it in the store? That’s pretty crummy for people who are trying to support their local store or for people that work there (as you wouldn’t get any discount and also get nailed for a fairly high shipping fee plus the normal sales tax on top!). It’s also pretty crappy of Gamestop to do things like this as it takes away from pre-order potential from their local stores.

What an unfair way to offer a bonus. I’d understand if it was only for direct orders from Aksys the way NIS America does it. At least they make it worth it with free shipping and you get the game before street date!

This makes me really upset as I already paid in full for the game at a local store as soon as it became available. People per-ordering in store should get the bonus too!

Will people who pre-order from Amazon get any sort of pre-order bonus like GameStop?

You can only get the Fate/theFact book if you order it on-line from Gamestop. All the other goodies are available in store or on-line.
