Start Your Summer With a New Agarest Game
Record of Agarest 2 Comes to Europe and North America in 2012!

TORRANCE, Calif. – December 9, 2011 – Acclaimed localization studio and video game publisher Aksys Games today announced that Record of Agarest War 2 will be coming to North America for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. Developed by Idea Factory, Compile Heart and RED Entertainment, and localized by Aksys Games, Record of Agarest War 2 features all-new strategy RPG gameplay, HD graphics, and bonus mini-games! Agarest 2 will be published in North America by Aksys, and by Ghostlight Ltd. in Europe and is scheduled to be released in summer 2012.

Story:

One day, the world was enveloped by a mysterious blinding light. The destruction it caused was terrible, even as the light itself was sublime in its beauty, and it made those who witnessed the awesome display think of the unrestrained rage and fury of the divine.

The central continent, from where the light is believed to have originated from, went silent, while at the same time demons began to spread throughout the world like a plague. Amongst the survivors of the catastrophe, that fateful day became known as the “Day of Light.”

Sometime after the events of the Day of Light, a young man by the name of Weiss, who had lost all memory of himself, encounters an enigmatic woman named Eva, who introduces herself as an Agent of the Divine. It is from her that Weiss learns that he has committed the grievous sin of deicide, and that in order for him to atone for his crime he is to become the “Vessel” in which the power of the divinity he had slaughtered will be stored. For it will be that power that will be used to resurrect the one whose life he stole.

For those who betray the divine will pay for their sins in the space which separates salvation and damnation, as will their progeny…

Features:

  • Revamped Battle System: Unlike the first two games of the series, Agarest 2 battles are fought with an engaging active grid-based battle system.
  • HD graphics: Enjoy your favorite characters, environments and CGs in high-definition!
  • Mini-games: Engage in PlayStation®Move compatible Bathtub, Shiatsu, and Massage mini-games.
  • New Agarest Universe: Roam freely in the newly designed world of Agarest

Record of Agarest War 2 has not yet been rated by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB). More information about Record of Agarest 2 can be found at www.aksysgames.com. Information about Ghostlight Ltd. and Idea Factory can be found at http://www.ghostlight.uk.com and http://www.ideaf.co.jp.

I would first like to say how glad I am that you are finally getting this title to North American audiences. I would then like to say how incredibly upset I am that this is a Playstation 3 exclusive. I am aware that the Agarest series was exclusive to the Playstation 3 for sometime, but the Xbox 360 has gotten both of the other Agarest games. I for one do not own a PS3 and have played and beaten both Agarest games on the Xbox 360 and you make me very sad to know I will not be able to continue the experience as of this time. I would strongly encourage you to reconsider this.

councilmanrand: Agarest 2 is PS3 exclusive in Japan. It’s only been on PS3 since it was released a year ago. Idea Factory did not create an Xbox 360 version. You’ll have to ask them to make it for Xbox.

@councilmanrand: I understand your frustration, but Idea Factory has only published a PS3 version of Agarest 2. Since we only publish, and as such have no programmers, we can’t create a port that doesn’t exist.

I suppose my frustration is a bit misplaced then, well as I said before thank you for bringing this game to North America. I’m glad there are still publishers out there dedicated to bring this sort of gaming to us. I guess I will have to hope for a Xbox 360 port of the game, and enjoy the 2 xbox 360 ports of the earlier games for now.

I only have the 360 versions of the prior games. So I am curious if this game will have special unlocks if you have saves from previous games?

People of Aksys I hope you are reading these links.

Can you please make Agerest war 2 for the Xbox360 as well.

Would anyone laugh or agree with me if this game gets an ESRB rating of M? Because I had a good one for Hyperdimension Neptunia MK2 lol

It’s not a surprise that there no 360 port, the 360 may be big here in the states but the system is dead in japan and some retailers don’t even carry 360 games anymore. Suck but most people who are into these type of game have a PS3, that why I was suprised when the first game came out it was only on the PSN and no physical release like the 360 had.

@andhros Agarest War 2 does have a Import Clear save from Agarest War Zero.

@ Azerial88 Agarest War had a psychical release in EU.

I doubt there will be a 360 version of Agarest War 2.
I base this statement on my calulation from gamefaqs http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/997501-record-of-agarest-war-2 (Artemisthemp).

Very disappointed this isn’t getting a 360 port. It gives me another reason buy a PS3, yeah, but it kinda sucks. Glad you guys are bringing it over, at least, even if Idea Factory isn’t publishing a 360 version.

Awesome that you’re bringing this here (I got the first 2 games on PS3 already), but am I the only one who’s reminded of “The Idolm@ster” by that vid?

Also about the lack of physical release of the 1st game in North America, I have only one thing to say:

    STOOOOOOOOLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRR!!!!!!1!!!!11!!!

For those who don’t know, Bernie Stolar is an exec who worked for Sony America in the beginning of the PS1′s time who set in motion a lot of stupid, biased policies -especially against japanese import games- that even today influence Sony’s stance. When the higher-ups noticed how toxic he was (if he’d had his way, no JRPGs would have made its way here, not even Final Fantasy VII), they politely showed him the door… Only to be picked up by Sega of America, where he pulled more stupid stunts which ended up being a major contributing factor to Sega being forced to abandon console-making (he completely mismanaged the Saturn intentionally to force Sega Japan’s hand with the Dreamcast, not realizing and/or caring that sabotaging your brand to get it to put out a new product before it can be developped enough to be truly competitive is shitty business sense; then he managed to mismanage what was at the time the most successful console launch ever, and combined with the still-recent Saturn fiasco killed any confidence in Sega as a console maker). That time he was actually sacked. He still managed to find a lot of high-level exec jobs afterwards anyway, so he’s probably not the only woefully inadequate corporate decision-maker around, but that’s another story.

So… uh… *cough* I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to contact Idea Factory or Compile Heart. Well… you know… without learning Japanese :-).

Well firstly I would like to say, thank you so much Aksys for FINALLY bringing over Agarest Senki 2. I have both the RoAW: LE Edition and RoAW: Zero LE Edition (unfortunately both for the 360 XP) and have fallen in love with the series. I have prayed to god for many months and well LOOKIE HERE, prayers answered XD In any case, I would like to ask if you guys are planning for a PSN release or an actual physical copy, complete with LE Edition and everything (possibly more naughty than the last?) As I want to know if I should really be getting so worked up over a game that I may never hold in my NON-digital hands. Anyway, thanks again for bringing over the sequel to one of my favorite 360 (now going to PS3 XP) games!

Please bring this to the 360 as well! I loved ROAW and ROAW:Z, and it’d be maddening to know that Record of Agarest War 2 was in North America, only as a PS3 exclusive. Please reconsider!

Well I have very persistently been attempting to find a way for all of the people that I have seen online who are upset about this game not getting ported over to the Xbox 360 in Japan ever since this was originally posted. I feel at this point it’s a lost cause since there is no way to contact any of these companies if you only know how to write in english, and unfortunately there is nothing that Aksys is going to be able to do since they don’t actually make the game. In all that time searching I found that due to the dead Xbox 360 market in Japan, and the fact that both other games were ported to the xbox 360 in about a year that we have little to no hope of ever seeing it on that system. It is with a heavy heart that I end my forays into the world of Agarest, though I respect the PS3 and wish I was able to play many of it’s exclusives I wont be purchasing PS anything till the next gen comes out as I am not budgeted for such things. Thanks alot for killing my new favorite game experience Idea Factory/Compile Heart!

Thank you for bringing over this game! I understand why there is no 360 version, but this brings me to another question: why was the first game only on PSN instead of physical media for the PS3? I remember making the decision to get the 360 version back then solely because they had a limited/physical version of the game.

Hey I signed up just to make this comment. I REALLY hope you bring this to xbox 360 since I have the other two games on that system. Remember some games that were not released on 360 in japan ARE released on 360 during localization, a prime recent example is Dark Souls. So I don’t understand why aksys can’t do something like this… Please listen to your fans Aksys and port this game!

@BlazingHero: Unfortunately we don’t have the capability to port games ourselves. We only localize the text and publish the game.

@Belisarius Thank you for the quick reply! Though I would be lying if I said I wasn’t crushed that this is set in stone… Ah well, I’ll look forward to other games you guys release in the future for the 360! To the lucky PS3 owners out there I say you BETTER enjoy this game. *Stares at with envy*

Sorry to keep this post going, but I ended up getting a PS3, (Tales of Graces F PS3 exclusive was the last straw.) and I didn’t see any new information about the game up. Were you planning on releasing a LE or CE for this game? If so, have any of the contents been decided yet? Hopefully a new post goes up on the matter if there isn’t any information on that yet.

I want to second the question. I’ve been holding off on preordering because I want to see if there’ll be a LE or CE for Agarest War 2. Will there be one or should I just preorder now?

WoW! I watch a trailer from this game and I must say I was very impressed I love traditional old school turn based JRPG and this game is exactly that with world map & random battles it remind me the good old times on PS1 with all the gr8 games(FF, Xenogears, Suikoden, Breath of Fire etc), I miss those days a lot because those games r almost non existent anymore, this game will be instant buy for me as long I can play it with the original Japanese VO, so that’s what I want to know, r we gonna get the original voice track at the PAL version of the game?

Not sure if this is true, but on Amazon.com I saw the Limited Edition for pre-order. (contents were copied/pasted) Contains “LE contents feature blow up character doll, heart shaped compressed towel and artbook.” for anyone who is interested. I don’t know how accurate this is since Aksys themselves have yet to announce anything.

I will be happy to purchase this game when it comes out, I love these games. I always buy the collectors edition but I am disappointed in this one. The art book is nice and maybe the towel but the blow up is kind of lame. What I really want when I buy a game is a CD soundtrack. I even bought an Xbox 360 copy of the first game to get the CD when I didn’t even have an Xbox. I’m really hoping someone made a mistake and there is actually a CD in that set. Otherwise I might just get the normal edition.

I want this game so bad, but the fact that it’s on PS3 is holding me from buying it. No diss to Playstation fans, but I would prefer to play this on XBOX. I might just wait and see if they bring it to xbox, if not then well. You guys will have to tell me how it is.
