While supplies last, get your exclusive Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward (either the 3DS or PS Vita version) pre-order bonus bracelet now available only on Amazon!  Read about it in our cleverly written release after the break!

INOCULATION PROGRAM AVAILABLE: Currently Opt-In Due to Limited Supplies
Pre-ordering VLR is, as of now, the only way to acquire the inoculation device

IDO Quarantine Zone Tau, Los Angeles, CA — Over the last few months there have been several reported cases of Virtue’s Last Reward, also known more commonly as “VLR.” Fortunately they have been contained, but our analysts reluctantly inform us that this is merely the calm before the storm. Our projections show an impending unavoidable outbreak sometime around the end of October.

Although we have managed to produce an inoculation device and accompanying serum, our supply of both is severely limited, and our normal avenues of distribution are insufficient. As such, we have taken the unprecedented step of partnering with shopping service Amazon.com to distribute these devices. Our efforts to synthesize a cure have been severely hampered by a lack of individuals who are naturally immune to the disease. To this end, all persons receiving an inoculation device will be expected to participate in the treatment effort: Each device will be shipped with a sample of the VLR strain. Instructions for inoculation and subsequent infection will be included with each packet. Once delivery is confirmed, an IDO official will follow up within the week to collect the modified antibodies, so haste is advised. Rest assured that our extensive testing has shown the inoculation to have nearly a 50% success rate. Participation in this program is strictly voluntary, but please keep in mind that current supplies are extremely limited.

Note: Once the serum has been injected, the inoculation device can also be used as a functioning wristwatch.

As always, it is wise to be on the lookout for possible VLR infection. Memorize the following list of symptoms—the life they save could be your own.

  • Dual Language Support – Early cases show that VLR allows communication in both English and Japanese, with dialog playable in both languages. Whether or not this indicates damage to the languages centers of the brain is under investigation.
  • Puzzles and Story – Preliminary investigations show that this game progresses rapidly through a repeating cycle of two distinct stages, which have been termed the “Novel” and “Escape” stages. During the Novel stage, subjects find themselves engaged by a complex and mysterious story. During the Escape stage, subjects have been observed solving numerous puzzles.
  • Fully-Voiced Novel Sections – One of the indicators of the Novel stage is reportedly fully-voiced dialog: All characters except for the protagonist can be heard speaking during this stage.
  • Numerous Endings – VLR has been shown to exhibit numerous paths of infection, most of which are lethal. At press time, 24 different “endings” have been observed, each unique.
  • Immersive Three-Dimensional Environment – Many infected patients have reported a feeling of increased immersion in their surroundings, often manifested in the ability to rotate the camera around a 3D room rendered in-game, and select and manipulate objects in three-dimensional space.
  • Introduces New Characters, Brings Back Old Ones – Our files on 999 indicate that a number of the characters featured there appear again in VLR, although in what capacity is still unclear. This strain also introduces several new characters, all of whom merit additional investigation.

Any suspected cases should be immediately directed to IDO Processing Center Upsilon, located in the Aksys Games Localization offices.

Do you guys know if you get the watch on your 3DS order even if Amazon classifies it as a “Standard Edition” and not “Pre-Order Bonus Edition” ? I wasn’t sure so I canceled my 3DS order, and reordered it for the Vita to be on the safe side.

However, just to let everyone know, you can’t pre-order 3DS version of the game anymore on Amazon…. I found that out when I canceled mine yesterday. But You can definitely order a copy of the game at GameStop.

Hello NES23, I just wanted to know what you mean by saying that “you can’t pre-order 3DS version of the game anymore on Amazon”? I would like to pre-order VLR for the 3DS with the watch, I had a pre-order at Gamestop but Amazon will only be carrying the watch. Does this mean I am out of luck when it comes to getting the 3DS version? Or is it just an error/issue that will be fixed?

Will this bonus also be available on Amazon.ca?

  4.  Xobtraf
    9.17.12 at 9:39 am

Says that the game isn’t available on the 3DS page, and also says under platform: PlayStation Vita (Nintendo 3DS).

    Odd.

    9.17.12 at 9:57 am

@ Albireo6972 : Just like Xobtraf says, Amazon has a message saying that “Do you want us to e-mail you to notify you when this item will be available” when you click on the 3DS version of the game.

I had the 3DS version pre-ordered on March 1st 2012, but then I saw the watch being offered, and I thought it was for both Platforms, however, only the Vita has the “Pre- Order Bonus Edition.” So I lost my Pre-Order for the 3DS on Amazon. I Pre -Ordered the Vita, and my boyfriend is getting me a 3DS copy at his GameStop.

Like others said:The 3DS page is broken, if it was out of stock(which I understand) it would go to the right page but you can not add it to cart. I want the page to be fixed so I can pre order the game with the watch! Both boxart’s are in the picture, so both versions must have the watch.

The 3DS page just isn’t up yet: It’ll be up (hopefully soon) and you can pre-order the game. If you placed a pre-order for either version before the bonus was announced, you’re good: Your order is in the pre-order queue for the bonus.

Any clue when the 3DS page will be up? I missed 999′s pre-order, so I’d really like to get it this time.

I would like some clarification as well- I ordered off Amazon.ca, and apparently the “pre-order bonus” is only listed on Amazon.com. Do we still get the watches up here in Canada?

    9.17.12 at 11:03 am

I was REALLY hoping to pre-order from this site again, since I got my copy of 999 and my watch really fast last time.

    Curse you Amazon!

    This sounds really awesome.
I somehow predicted that you were going to do a similar promo for the sequel, I missed the first one with 999 because of my status as European gamer… there’s any chance the promo will apply to european/canadian/other versions of Amazon? It would be really awesome, I’m sure lots of gamers from these countries will be happy even more happy while buying their copy of the game. Keep up with the good work!

    @SnorlaxSquad:
Unfortunately we don’t have any idea when the page will be up. :( I’ll try and leave a comment here when it is, but you can also check our forums and Twitter (@aksysgames).

    @Kaitou-al, @Hirunoshi:
The watch pre-order bonus is amazon.com only. I don’t believe amazon.ca will be getting it.

The ONLY solution for Canadians is to pre-order it off amazon.com and have it shipped to a friend or relative’s house so that you may later pick it up or have them ship it to you.

Is there going to be any other way to get this watch for all of the people who got screwed because we thought it would be safe to order from Gamestop? (There is no longer enough to time to get a refund from a cancelled pre-order, though I’m trying to cancel anyway) I seem to recall the 999 watch being sold at the store here for a bit after 999 was released?

  19.  SnorlaxSquad
    9.17.12 at 5:27 pm

It looks like the preorder for the 3DS is down again on Amazon. Hopefully the watch/preorders haven’t already sold out.

    9.17.12 at 6:46 pm

I am pretty confused now because the 3DS page isn’t there again when people are saying it is? Is it down again or am I just slow?

  21.  Albireo6972
    9.17.12 at 6:48 pm

@SnorlaxSquad, Hope they still got some for you and others, I know how it is to miss out on things. I missed out on getting 999 with the watch, but got lucky and bought the game/watch together at AX (Anime Expo) in 2010 from the Aksys booth.

  22.  Albireo6972

    Whoops, meant 2011 for AX

  23.  redhood56
    9.17.12 at 6:52 pm

When I go to the page to pre order, there is only a standard edition now( before there was a standard, and pre order edition). Is this a problem with amazon, or is amazon just merging the 2?

  24.  Albireo6972
    9.17.12 at 6:56 pm

It was working fine a while ago, I checked on it around 4pm (MST). The page was merged and allowed you to choose between standard or pre-order edition. I hope it an issue that will be fixed so more people can have it.

  25.  redhood56
    9.17.12 at 7:07 pm

What I meant was if they merged both editions, since you can only pre order. Now it seems the pre order bonus picture doesn’t even show up for me when I choose the 3ds and vita versions. Now the pre order version don’t even exist.

  26.  baffledprince
    9.17.12 at 7:22 pm

Yeah redhood56, I totally get what you mean and that is what I have been confused about as well. I am hoping it is just some weird glitch with Amazon again.

  27.  redhood56
    9.17.12 at 8:47 pm

Okay I just realized that when you click on the page when you search at amazon, the page isn’t there. But if you click on your platform, the pre order bonus pic goes away and there is only standard editions(with no pre order bonus). This is quite bizarre indeed.

Is there any word yet on when the preorder pages will be fully up? Really looking forward to getting that watch, I too missed it with 999. Want to jump on this ASAP.

Hi, question here? I put in my pre-order with Amazon several months ago for the 3ds version, do I need to do anything or am I good to go?

  30.  obvioustwoll
    9.18.12 at 12:37 am

Nevermind, thanks for answering my question Belisarius.

  31.  Belisarius
    9.18.12 at 8:19 am

Hey, sorry for the confusion everyone. Here’s the breakdown:

    • If you already had a pre-order in, you’ll get a watch.
    • The Vita “pre-order edition” is sold out as of…some time last night. So no more watches for Vita. :(
    • There are still a few 3DS “pre-order editions” available with watches, but they’re likely to go fast.

You can always e-mail Amazon to double-check. If you still have trouble, feel free to e-mail use at support (at) aksysgames (dot) com, and we’ll see what we can do.

  32.  redhood56
    9.18.12 at 9:09 am

@Belisarius Thanks for clearing up the confusion! I just pre ordered the 3DS one!

  33.  NES23
    9.18.12 at 10:20 am

@Belisarius, Yes thank you for clearing things up! As of now Amazon is allowing all forms of the game to be ordered. So I can never tell what is really going on with the site. I will let my friends know that the 3DS version only has watches left.

  34.  NES23
    9.18.12 at 10:28 am

Ok and forget what I just said…. now Amazon says only the Vita has the “Pre-Order Bonus” Available.

  35.  redhood56
    9.18.12 at 10:38 am

Okay, according to amazon, the 3ds pre order bonus edition is sold out!

  36.  NES23
    9.18.12 at 10:52 am

@redhood56: And the Vita one is available… which I don’t understand because Belisarius stated that it was sold out… I don’t get it. I hope everything works out for everyone.

  37.  GreatZimkogway
    9.18.12 at 11:24 am

Well that really sucks, that it’s sold out within a day…before some people even get the chance to know about it…

  38.  Kaitou-al
    9.18.12 at 11:28 am

Though, despite the complaining, I’m really happy that there’s watches. XD Amazon.ca, 3DS Standard edition for me~ * runs off to re-order *

  39.  BlackAngel
    9.18.12 at 1:55 pm

just wondering, is there any hope for the watches to be restocked? The only reason I didn’t preorder from Amazon before was because I wanted to preorder from gamestop and pick it up in store so I could play it right away. Now that I know I might have missed the watches, I feel extremely guilty :(. Just preordered from amazon, so is there any hope for the watches to be restocked? Pretty please ^.^

  40.  c29o
    9.18.12 at 6:21 pm

    ^^
I am wondering this as well. To be honest, if not, I can wait a week to get this game used and save myself $10 or so. I’d love a watch though.

  41.  Ice-Valkyrie
    9.18.12 at 7:02 pm

@c29o – If you go to Newegg.com and preorder the game before the 20th, you’ll get $10 off by using the promo code: EMCNAJB243. Just another alternative instead of waiting a few months to buy used. I really hope the watch comes back in stock though.

    9.26.12 at 3:24 am

If there are more pre order watch editions released to Amazon would people who preorder after the initial run and are within the amount of printings of the theoretical second run would said people in the middle get skipped out on or receive the watch as well?

  43.  Evil_Pun
    9.26.12 at 3:31 am

    oh I just saw the update . . . don’t mind me <..>

    10.19.12 at 10:46 am

I pre-ordered back on April 4, and I just got an email today from Amazon that I will not be receiving the pre-order version. What gives? What are my options?

  45.  Niction
    10.19.12 at 12:16 pm

I got the same e-mail from Amazon telling me I won’t be getting the bonus. It seems when we were told that pre-order before July would be getting the bonuses we were lied to.

  46.  redhood56
    10.19.12 at 12:47 pm

    @smatchmo and Niction
It seems that Amazon screwed A TON of people over, most of the people who got the email got it because they pre ordered it before the game before the watched was announced.
