I’ve been trying to get this edition for several weeks now and now the second wave sells out in seconds? I just cancelled my pre-order of the normal version.

@Birdgirl789: Same here, I tried this morning and the pre-order wasn’t available, I tried again now and it says “sold out”. I just canceled my pre-order of the “normal” version, I’m just tired of this “limited time only” attitude.

To be fair, those who got it (like yours truly) probably put in massive effort (read: not sleeping and f5-ing for hours on end, true story) in order to secure their copy. Anyway thanks Aksys for at least having the 2nd wave :)

    EXACTLY
I woke up at 11 am the 27th, had a closing shift at work, and stayed away all night/morning to get that watch… F5ing about every 15 min, passed the time play Rock Band Blitz, TheDenpaMen and chilling on gamefaqs and CAG forums…
It was a terrible long long wait, but it was SO worth it. Snagged a Vita and a 3DS copy soon as the clock his 12.

@Slicende: The saved for later section usually means that you didn’t finish your order. It should say that “You purchased this item on September 28, 2012.” when you look at VLR on Amazon.com

Anyway, I missed out on the 3DS copy yet again but I did manage to snag a Vita version. I’m happy to get the watch so thank you Aksys for giving us all a second chance. <3

I ordered and got the bonus on the 17th and even got it confirmed by Amazon but after changing the shipping speed my order didn’t display an estimate date (it said 0ct.28 but that was too long so I put one day shipping). Now im being told i didn’t get it even though my invoice says that I ordered it and i apparently had it before because it said i was getting it. I emailed Amazon again but still waiting for a reply. This sucks because I had it and now I don’t?

Way to scam your consumers, Aksys. I bet there weren’t any more than 100 copies of this “second wave bundle.” I asked Amazon at 11AM this morning when to expect it on their site, and they claimed they had no clue. An hour later, I check back and it’s already saying it’s backordered 3 weeks. I contact Amazon again, and they say it’s already sold out. I call bullcrap.

@masterz13 I don’t think you get what limited means. They produced another LIMITED batch again for people who missed out. From looking around people were stalking the amazon page until 12:00 AM on the 28th. They got their copies fair and square, and I don’t understand why you would think Aksys would scam their loyal customers.
@narutofan2445 You should email support@aksysgames.com with your order number and the email you use for amazon.

@masterz13: Well to be fair we were warned that it was going to be very limited. Plus Aksys was never obliged to conduct a 2nd wave. And while I understand your frustration, those who got it had to put it tremendous effort since nobody knew when it was going up. Aksys didn’t. We didn’t. All we knew was that it was going to be released within that 24 hour timeframe. I pretty much spent the the night of 27th and 28th on Amazon, constantly checking until Amazon decided to randomly choose a time to open it. It was there for a fair couple hours actually. Remember the burden of proof is on you when you make a claim ;)

While I do think Aksys should have created more watches, I do agree with porkiewpyne and Kolma. We stayed up all night to get those watches because no one had any idea when they would come out. At least this time Aksys gave us enough time to prepare to stalk the Amazon page, rather than the last minute post the first time around. Not everyone could afford to stay up all night but the ones that did definitely deserved the watches they got.
Anyway, I guess all of this would be solved if we just had more watches to go around. And if they shipped to other places outside the US.

I find the comments rather interesting. Although the watches are nice and I’m a huge fan of the first game (I got the first game’s watch with preorder), I’ve got a life outside of video games and pressing F5 on Amazon. Unfortunately, I didn’t even realize there was a second game until today (RL can be harsh sometimes). There seems to be a couple on ebay for over a hundred each if I ever get desperate. If Aksys actually want to earn some more money, they should really remake them and sell them separately. I’d much rather buy it from the official maker than some person on ebay.

@Nychii; I completely agree, and feel exactly the same way. I had class right during the time of the second wave of preorders, and despite checking the site when I could I still missed out. I don’t think it’s fair for those who got it to say, “oh, well, we worked hard for it!!” I have a busy schedule; it’s bull to say I don’t really deserve it anyway because I opted not to skip class or slack on my work. I honestly REALLY want the watch and when I found out it was already sold out AGAIN I was really really upset.

Give people free stuff and they will find a way to complain about it; you people are terrible.

Aksys didnt even have to make a second batch, or even include a bonus at all, for that matter. Quit your moaning and just be glad they got funding to even release the sequel because if the game only came out in japan, you’d complain about that too.

@heyheythere I couldn’t have said it myself. Most of the people that are moaning are the ones that are butthurt because they missed out a second time.

@heyheythere: Comment was probably not directed at me but I thought I should reply just in case. It doesn’t matter to me if it’s free. I have a full time job, I can pay for it if it’s in reasonable bounds and I care enough. I’m putting it out there as a suggestion since I would like one and I’m sure there are others who are willing to pay money to get in the loop. If they really want to keep it purely as a one time promo and those who missed out missed out, then that’s fine with me too. I would just like to voice my opinion in case they listen and would consider.

Aww come on guys, Aksys was nice enough to even bother releasing a second wave! I for one think that makes them just about the coolest game company out there!

I was just about to go in for a major exam and thought I would check Amazon one last time and wouldn’t you know it, it was there for the taking!

Thanks for the second chance Aksys! Makes the game all that much more worthwhile! I should probably keep the watch as a collector’s item but knowing me I’ll be wearing all the time!

    Cheers!

@heyheythere; I wasn’t complaining about Aksys in any way. I’m quite aware that it was nice of them to put out the second batch of bonuses; I’m saying that it’s unfair of OTHER FANS to say that those who are upset about missing out don’t deserve the watches anyway because we have other obligations.

  25. wrote on September 30th, 2012 at 1:52 am

    porkiewpyne

@TwilightTulip: My apologies if you felt offended by my comments. I never intended to imply that you guys don’t deserve it. I do get that you are upset and I felt that way during the first wave. I do have my own obligations and timetable. I would appreciate it if you (and some others) do not jump to conclusions about that or diss us about it.

My previous comment was aimed as a rebuttal for someone who claimed that it was all a sham. What I meant to say was that we got ours fair and square hence the usage of the word “deserve”. I was devastated when the first batch ran out but honestly speaking, those who got theirs the first time deserved it.

If it makes you feel better, do realise that at least you had a fighting chance. For those 3DS-only owners in the non-NA region can only dream of this since this is an Aksys thing. Or buy another console. I would know. I personally contacted and confirmed with RSG.

I asked this on the last post, but didn’t really get a definite response:

My order for the 3DS “Virtue’s Last Reward (with Pre order bonus item)” says on the order review page: “We’ll notify you via e-mail when we have an estimated delivery date.” Just wondering, is it backordered or something even though I got in before it was removed from the website and you’ve since did another way?

I also ordered the Vita version and it still lists the normal date of October 26th.

I’m glad that Aksys decided to release a second wave of watch bonus pre-orders. The first time around, I didn’t even know the game was out on Amazon. This time a few of my friends and I basically stayed up all night to secure our copies since we all missed out the first time. We were able to get a copy, and we’re happy.

They went up at around 9:15am PST (we were joking that maybe they tried to put it up at 9:09 and 9 seconds). The 3DS version sold out around 10:10am and the Vita version maybe around 11:00am. These are rough estimates… Aksys gave us a heads up that the 2nd batch would be limited, so this is pretty much what I expected.

It does suck that watches were so exclusive, but they gave everyone a 2nd chance. I hate the fact that there are people out there who are buying them just to flip them for a profit. I think Aksys did the best they could. I personally thought they should have done the watch bonus directly through their online shop, but they probably had a very limited stock and needed to find a trusted vendor who can handle a pre-order like this.

Welp, wasn’t able to get it this time around either… Pretty much have nobody but myself (and/or a crappy schedule) to blame for this, though. The worst is that it’s the 2nd time this happened to me in as many months – I couldn’t get the Persona 4 Golden Solid Gold edition either.

It sucks massive b*lls, but blaming companies is useless at best and counterproductive at worst – especially when the bonuses are free. The cost of including free merch probably outweighs the additional sales netted that way, especially in cases like this where the vast majority of people who get the bonus would have ordered the game regardless.

Just goes to show I’ll have to be completely hawkish in my watching of upcoming titles…

Ok, Aksys has stooped to the lowest level I’ve seen in awhile with this “Limited Edition.” I pre-ordered this game at the beginning of April and subsequently found out about the special edition. Little did I know that the promotion would not apply to existing pre-orders. It’s not right to the people who pre-ordered the game WAY in advance to suddenly offer such a scarce number of these collectible editions. I was looking forward to playing the game on release day, but I’m gonna vote with my wallet on this one. Eventually, I’ll find a USED copy like I did with “999.” Ragnarok Tactics is another pre-order that I’ll be canceling as well. Stick it to your fans, Aksys! Show us you REALLY appreciate the people who support your products.

    @jmsalal
If you pre-ordered through Amazon in April, then you should have been included in the bonus because the first batch was given to all previously made pre-orders (all special edition pre-orders were changed to limited bonus editions) as well as those that purchased during the time frame they were available. Only the second, limited batch released was only for new pre-orders. Check your order confirmation for “pre-order bonus.”

My “Instant Order Update” specifically says “Standard Edition” when I go to Amazon. No confirmation has been noted anywhere that I can find. As far as I can tell, no indication has been made that I will receive the pre-order bonus, but I suppose I’ll wait and see when the game arrives. BTW, Ragnarok Tactics is surely one of the last games to be released on UMD for PSP. Any plans for a PSN release so we can play it on Vita?

quote form this blog entry http://www.aksysgames.com/2012/09/24/zero-escape-virtues-last-reward-pre-bonus-offer-gets-a-new-life/

“If you ordered a pre-order bundle prior to the “first wave”:

Those who have pre-ordered prior to “first wave” of pre-order bonuses will still receive the bundle. This means that if you placed your pre-order prior to September 17th, 2012, you will receive the watch. Do not cancel and re-order.”

So to attempt to clarify you ordered before the 17th of September therefore that means even though your bundle doesn’t say it’s the Pre-Order bonus edition you still will be receiving the watch.

I have to say I’m still extremely disappointed with Aksys. As soon as preorder opened up months ago, I rushed out to my local GameStop to place an order. There was no info about the watch at that point, it wasn’t even announced. I figured that if they decided to announce one at all, it would be for the big boys like GameStop and Amazon (I had no idea about how the 999 watch went).
I’m sorely disappointed to see that they haven’t even responded to anyone about the GameStop issue in the other comment threads. A lot of loyal fans ran out to GameStop because they prefer going to a physical store rather than just ordering online and they were slapped in the face. The least they could do is address the issue and apologize instead of ignoring it. I’m not going to cancel my preorder, but there are two other games I want coming out within two weeks of this one for the same system and I chose VLR because perhaps that watch would be announced. Aksys used to be one of the companies I held with the highest respect, but that’s sorely dropped right now.

@aisu: Well I can’t speak on Aksys’ behalf but honestly speaking, I think they had to make that decision due to the very limited supply. But really, Aksys is doing a really good job already imo. At least your games will have dual audio. At least you can preorder it with the bonus. And you guys will be getting it a month earlier. I really pity like those whom Amazon.com refuse to ship to. I do admit there are things which could have been managed better but since I am not in their shoes, I can’t really say I understand their position. I have many things in mind which will benefit consumers but since it is not done, all I can assume is that it is not viable for companies like Aksys. I guess them not replying is their bad though. Just sayin’ :)

@alsu, I was extremely disappointed with Aksys the first time cause they didn’t really give people a heads up that they were doing a pre-order bonus, and I understand how you feel… I think that some of what you said may have been almost exactly what I said after I found out about the first time they offered the bonus. But this second release of the bonus was a very nice move on their part. They didn’t have to do it, but they saw how upset people were.
I think they should sell the watches in their stores because the second bonus was only up for a few hours and I know a lot of people missed it. I think that they could have done a lot of things better, and it is still fair to be a little disappointed in their handling. I think that they did upset a lot of loyal fans with their actions. I am my self not sure what to think any more. On the one hand I feel that they did make mistakes and should have informed their fans better of what they were doing. But on the other hand when they saw how upset people were with their actions they did try to make them happy by offering the watches again, with better communication. But people still missed out… I think it will take me a while to settle on what I think about how this was all handled.
I hope that Aksys will remember this with future pre-order bonuses that they do, and I hope they do do more.
It is so late in the game that I think that it is hopeless to think that they will offer another round of pre-order bonuses, or that they will offer it to GameStop customers. I think right now the focus should be on asking them to sell the watch in the store like they did last time with 999. I think that there are clearly still fans out there who missed out on the small windows that the bonus was available on Amazon, who would still like the watch. And I think that there will be people who did get the watch who will be disappointed with what color they got and wish to buy a different one. Or even people who want to collect all the colors.

I just checked my amazon order and they told me that they’re having s problem with the order. I ordered my 3ds copy within a few minutes that it went up the second time, so I’m guessing everyone got who ordered the 3ds version got the same email. I had to go into my account and approve an order delay. Just wondering if you guys got the same thing. I’m guessing its because amazon screwed up when they originally listed the 3ds version. @June
Amazon JUST sent me this email:

    Hello,

We’re contacting you about your recent order for “Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward,” order #105-1395168-4001054.

You have pre-ordered a standard edition of this title and are scheduled to receive the standard edition shortly after release date. A bonus edition of this game is available in very limited quantities. You may have been informed that you would receive the bonus edition but, unfortunately, this is not the case. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this may have caused.

If you’re interested in ordering the bonus edition, please check the product detail page regularly. Though the bonus edition still has very limited availability, we expect to receive more units soon. When we have more stock available, we’ll post availability updates on the product detail page:

    Nintendo 3DS: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009APQ9R4
    PSVITA: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009APQ9QU

Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and hope to see you again soon.

I pre-ordered in April, and now the only listing I see is selling for $150 USD from a third-party vendor.

Amazon emailed me to inform that, despite my April pre-order, I would not receive the bonus materials. Aksys has stuck it to the ones who faithfully pre-ordered the game. I’m canceling mine because I feel I should have gotten the bonus. Typically, I try to support publishers who go to the effort of taking care of their fans by purchasing NEW titles. However, Aksys’ setting such a poor precedent has bumped them to the bottom of my care list. I’ll wait to find a used copy.
