Nothing specific yet, but it seems GG is back on track for the two systems.

They don't seem to have plans for a GG vs. BB, though.

Good news: y/n?

"Why is this appealing?"

The same way Tamagachis are appealing? I don't know, but try this on for size:
http://www.siliconera.com/2009/11/22/move-over-love-plus-real-girlfriend-has-face-tracking-and-3d-images/

Rhythm games were "different" for Americans, but you had Parappa the Rapper pave way as well as other odd titles that dared to be different at the arcades and at home, but they were fun and now you have Guitar Band 3014: Mick Jagger's Revenge and such.
Give something enough proper support and you'll see the potential of a genre and audience grow.

When I first saw the box art I thought, " Who wants to play a handicapped pirate?"
This I took a closer look and saw it was just his ballooning ascot LOL!

Princess maker genre hmmmmm. Why is this appealing? I mean that's like playing Barbies with stats.

I agree with caddylan, it's just too different for the American audience. Through it on someones network and see what happens.

I would really love to see this get localized.
For now, I believe the spin-off DSiware game is getting a release in the U.S., so look forward to that.

I heard about Ranshima Monogatari through a recent Important Importables entry on Gamertell.com, in which it was mentioned as a recent "Princess Maker" style raising simulation game. The blogger who writes that column has previously discussed the untranslated Princess Maker titles, as well as three similar games which were originally written in English. (To be more specific: the two Cute Knight games, and Spirited Heart.)

The name Ranshima Monogatari sounded unfamiliar, so I searched for it. A moment later, I noticed the game had been created by Arc System Works, which is closely connected with Aksys Games. I started thinking, "I wonder if this game might succeed in English?"

Ranshima would stand out among PSP games. The console has a lot of serious action games, which appeal to the "core gamer" demographic (more or less, guys 25 and younger). It appeals to my interests, but I'm not sure how many other people would purchase it. Offbeat PSP games don't often succeed on UMD. For instance, earlier this year, Pangya barely sold any copies.

I don't know if paid downloads of unusual PSP games, such as Holy Invasion of Privacy, are succeeding. (There wasn't enough demand for a UMD release.) But if the cost of localization can be reduced by only releasing Ranshima on Playstation Store, then it might have a chance.
