Looks like it's not an RPG as some had hoped, but a visual novel (which isn't overly surprising I guess).

EDIT: although I just saw a "status" screen with some numbers, so I'm confused about the game play mechanics. Yep, I'm useful.

Eh~ I don't see romance/RPG games geared towards girls often... sure visual novels, but not actual RPGs.

And the game trailer made me... laugh. The scenes they showed seemed so cheesy to me. XD

I'd still play it though. I'm a big RPG fan. ^-^

Yes, yes, and yes! I just finished skimming through the Japanese version, and the story was beautiful! The character development was definitely the best part. There are more detailed summaries out there, so anyone who's interested should google them up~! <3
If Hakuoki does well, Beyond the Future should be the next otome game Aksys should go for!

Ohoh~ Is that an evil villain character I see? :D I'm curious how the story connects to the title.

Indeed, I am to. It seems like there's angels now as well. Their not typically in fantasy RPGs >.> but then again they could be just a winged race like in the Breath of Fire series.

It's a Japanese game. they just picked a couple of English words that sounded cool. That's what most Japanese English titles seem to be based on anyway.

Okay, this may be off-topic but...

I have the special edition of that game (I got LEs of most of the Haruka games actually) and I LOVE IT, haha. went and bought the artbooks, cospa merch, figures, manga anthologies, etc... man, I started out on that series years ago on a whim, and it got me into otome games. Before then I'd only played Angelique (which was made by the same team, fun game too). But overall, I've never played any otome that were as addictive as the Haruka series... I think the difference is the heroines; I actually really like them (Nozomi, Chihiro, and Yuki from 3-4-5 in particular can kick butt in battle, hurrah). And their designs are so pretty.

Plus! Haruka 5 has a yuri route!! (okay, that may just be a plus for me, but...) If something like that got localized I'd probably die of shock and then come back from the dead as a preordering, game-buying zombie.

La Corda is the only one by Neo-Romance that I haven't tried. I probably should, but I'm too poor from spending all my money on their other series.

My my, that does sound even more wonderful! X3 I just hope that Aksys will localize one of them for crying out loud, even a PSN only release I'm good with. >.<

Also here's another video of Beyond the Future: Fix the Time Arrows! Some cute and touching scenes in it!
Although I must say that one that is more grounded and has an anime series already and has a full RPG system that it already seems like would be Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 5.

I have no doubt about the fact that the different strokes for different folks rule applies, but I was speaking mainly in romantic/sexual terms.

Oh, and you're wrong about MLP fans being equally distributed among both genders. The representation of males is significantly larger than that of females, and while there are females among us, they are a small percentage. Unfortunately. I'm talking about the brony fandom, as it's a different story if you're thinking of the legacy ponies.
