I registered on this site in order to vote. I'm anxious to see if this game gets localized; it's a very niche market but I believe it has the potential to do well. I don't own an xbox, but I might buy one second hand just to play this game.

Wow...I just finished Ever17 yesterday (stopped on the epilogue and finished the last few minutes this morning). I didn't expect there to be discussion so recent. The ending, you're left stunned with only a general sense of how what unfolded unfolded. And then there's this constant trickle of "holy -your mother is a classy lady-" moments where you connect the dots. Even though the time travel part is still fuzzy with regard to how the characters act, it was just so satisfying, that ending. It's like you don't know how a coffee machine works and so sit there for a while and go "Well, this is boring". Then coffee comes streaming out and that blows your mind (how is that even possible holyshitholyshit). And then you drink it. And it's the best cup of coffee you've ever had in your life. You kinda figured/learned now how that coffee machine works but not really, and it's going to take some work to figure it out and you might not even ever learn exactly how it works, but for the moment, you just don't care. :D

I am working on the remake, and I have to disagree with GundamAce completely. Also, even if GundamAce was right, it doesn't matter. Getting the original is next to impossible now, and the copies left over are now going up to $500. It's not going to be re-printed either. Sorry GundamAce, it's nothing personal, but you message was hypocritical. You let the little things bother you. There are obvious differences in the remake, some are questionable, but they aren't that bad and can easily be gotten used to. The game is still fantastic, regardless of the changes. If everyone can learn to like them or look past them, the game will still have the same overall feeling as the original. It actually may be easier to get used to the changes if the original hasn't been played. I have found that to be true in the past. If this gets localized, just buy it. Don't waste more money than you should getting the original, even though it's clearly amazing. The Japanese release of the remake is region locked as NTSC-J, so it can't even be played on American consoles. For anyone who asked earlier, there you go. I love the remake so far and would love to see AKSYS pick up this game. Even if all they did was translate the text like Hirameki did with the original, that would be fine with me. English voices would be nice, but I'll take what I can get. We need more Visual Novel games localized. I would even be fine with a digital release. Some people may not prefer that, but it would be better than nothing. The localization poll looks good, but I think more people need to voice their opinion before anything happens. So if anyone reading this wants to try out or relive this game, get out there and vote on the AKSYS Forum Ever 17 Remake poll if you haven't already. It can be found at the top of this page/forum. You must be logged in to vote. Also get out to social and game news websites to show your support if you haven't done so. Fingers crossed for AKSYS localizing this game. I know they can do it and make it successful.

I think you misunderstand me. I personally LOVED the remake. I thought it was a lot of fun, and as someone who had already played the original, I deeply enjoyed it. I did find some of the changes questionable, but for the most part, I'm mostly on the same page with Endless Hacker. I just don't think it's the first version newcomers should be exposed to. You'll get a lot more enjoyment out of it if you're someone who's already finished the original rather than someone who hasn't. Most of my frustration in my earlier post was mostly because I really wanted this version to be the version that could introduce a whole bunch of newcomers to Ever17 in the way I remembered it. I still stick with my statement that the mystery is too obvious in the 360 version, whereas it's much more subtle in the original.

Here's how I like to put it- Ever17 360 version is the world's most expensive fanfic written for people who'd already played the original. If you can accept that part, then you'll find it really enjoyable and a load of fun, just like I did. I just don't think that it'd be the best version for a newcomer to start with.

I have to disagree with that, right now let's finish the story first before we really say anything. It's clear that while the basic plot is the same, the remake is telling a different story at this point so let's see how the Coco and BlickWinkelroutes go before we really say anything further. I wasn't really fond of the idea of looking at the complete original in comparison to the Remake as we go through each individual route and now that we're hitting some HUGE changes I feel even stronger about this.

I don't mind comparisons between each version's current heroine route, but now we're really hitting some huge territory that I think we should wait and see how they handle it before really saying something.

Sigh... okay, I'm still in the middle of playing this, and am not done yet, and I know this will seem hypocritical, but...

If you've never played Ever17 before and are hoping to play this as your first version, DON'T. Go play the original instead. This version completely ruins the entire mystery of the original, to the point where nothing will surprise you anymore by the end. It completely destroys the subtlety the original had, and the mystery which was only mildly hinted at before is thrown into your face so many times that it won't be worth it. In fact, any people who play this version as their first version will probably be wondering why this game is praised so much. In short, go play the original instead.

... Having said that, if you've already finished the original like me and play this, you might find it entertaining. I personally like some of the changes of this version, and am overall enjoying it. However, you need a really open mind to enjoy it, so if you're against any sorts of changes whatsoever and think it ruins it, then don't bother.

In conclusion, I would only get this version only if you've finished the original and have an open mind towards change. First-timers, go play the original instead, and if you like that, then maybe you'll enjoy this. I just hope that no one plays this as their first version of Ever17, or it will completely ruin your experience of it.

It's uh, well it's kind of a "Your Mileage May Vary" kinda thing, over all I like some of the changes but I seem to be an anomally. Other changes are just kinda...what? it feels like it was written for people who played the original and not anyone who wants to start with the remake. But again some of this could just be being more aware of certain things thanks to having completed the original and some things could probably be completely overlooked while playing for the first time

Are they changes for the better? I hope they are. I was excited to hear that they cut out the slow bits, since I always felt like the original got painfully slow at times, to the point that the urgency of the situation was completely lost half the time lol.

999 is just as fantastic as EVER 17. It's a very niche title and rated M. Visual novels have had it rough here in the United States in the past, and the M rating made it that much harder to sell since it could only be sold to adults. It was a huge risk to localize the game. In the end, 999 ended up being a huge success in the United States. If the can succeed with a rated M niche visual novel like 999, then AKSYS can definitely succeed with a localization of the EVER 17 remake for the XBOX 360. I hope that if we get it there will be a limited edition bundle, but either way, this game will be an instant pre-order for me if it gets localized. I know a lot of people won't agree with this, but it's better than nothing. Even if the game is only available as an XBOX marketplace download, I would still get it. I'll take the localization of the game however it comes. Something is always better than nothing. Please AKSYS! Get the license for this game! If anyone can create a successful localization the EVER 17 remake, it's AKSYS. You guys know you can make money with this game, so do what you can to negotiate a license for it so anyone who missed out on EVER 17 can play this wonderful game!

Found something interesting while looking through the content files of the 360 version. I ran the default.xex file of Ever17 (think of it as the .exe file for 360 games) through XexTool(a little tool that outputs information contained in xex files) and I got a list of game ratings from various ratings agencies. Look for yourselves link. On line 113, it says ESRB_RP (ESRB Rating Pending) which means this title has been submitted to the ESRB and is awaiting final approval. Now I don't want to give out false hopes so keep in mind that they could have done this for some reason other than to bring it to North America. Perhaps they're required to put that there even if it hasn't been submitted to the ESRB, I do not know. It is interesting to see this and I hope it is indicative of things to come.
