As much as we love the terrifying Engrish of the announcer voices in BB, I think there is a market out there for a nice hype western announcer.

I heard the DLC announcer voices for BBCS:EX are already on disc, so maybe there's no possibility of adding more DLC voices. But I hope Aksys will work with ASW to make it possible in the future.

The current DLC voices (especially their A versions) often sound really bored or have very strange inflections (and let's not mention their pronounciation.)

Since Aksys have gone to the effort of getting english voice recorded for the characters, you might as well have some for the announcer as well.

I would definitely appreciate a more announcery announcer. I think of commentators on streams, or sports shows, and I'd like to have that kind of mood from an announcer. Just make sure it passes the bleeding-ears test. If over 50% of a focus group reports that the game makes their ears bleed, then it might not be ready for release :)

Greetings Aksys and Aksys forum members. After much discussion over who should make this thread, I volunteered myself to do so. The purpose of this thread is to make both the company of Aksys and it's fans aware of a massive movement to get the hit visual novel's upcoming PS3 release officially localized in English and released in the West.

We've mostly settled in the forums of the company NISA, although we have also branched out to Atlus USA's forums and a Facebook group, as well as many other locations. We have made fliers and posters and plan on going to video game and anime conventions to spread awareness of our goals and get more fans. The way we see it, the more fans we have, the more likely it is a company will notice us and consider Umineko no Naku Koro ni for a release in America.

The reason we are pushing for this particular title so much is that it is already very popular, not only in Japan, but in America and Europe as well. There are hundreds of English-speaking fans of the series. This is partly due to the fact that the original PC version of Umineko has been translated by a fangroup known as Witch Hunt. The evidence of the game's popularity is everywhere, and even english-based video game websites like Gamefaqs have taken notice of Umineko. It was featured in a Top 10 game of the year list and a Top 10 OSTs list. It's even gotten a spot on the Game of the Decade poll, the only Visual Novel to do so, and one of very few Japanese games to do so.

But unlike the PC version, this brand new PS3 version being released in Japan (with all new fantastic art, voice acting, and many other improvements and additions) cannot be translated by fans. We need and official company to bring this over the right way. Due to Umineko's already well established success in the West, as well as it's potential to bring in many new fans with it's universally amazing murder mystery versus fantasy story, this could be the breakout hit to establish Visual Novels as a legitimate genre in the West, something that all different fans of the genre have been waiting patiently to happen for many years now.

We believe Aksys may be our only hope at this point, as even companies like NISA and Atlus don't want to take the risk of bringing over a Visual Novel. Please at least consider this game for localization. We'd greatly appreciate it. Here are some links to other locations to see how much the fanbase wants this. The thread at NISA is one of their largest and fastest growing in their history.

When Shinji died?

I mean, I hate to say it, I really do because Shinji is kind of a jerk, but I felt legitimately bad, and my eyes teared up when he started to die. Especially when he said, "Please! I don't want to die yet! I'm only eight years old!"--I think that that legitimately explained why he behaved the way he did. In fact, I have teared up every single time I've finished round 1 (over 10 times now, but my PSP keeps shutting off!) when he's dying.

He's not the same Shinji as that one so I do actually feel some sorrow for him.

Wow, I had an account in this forum and never knew it; NEAT! I'll use this opportunity to spam my game suggestions in one brief post, despite wallowing in the futile desperation that it's about 90% unlikely the first few games will be released.

The game takes place in a virtual OS replica on your iPod/iPhone/Android. You've downloaded a cursed app in that iOS that claims it will kill you in 7 days if you don't clear the game. You can use your camera and receive mail in the game's iOS, and there's Twitter compatibility, too. And, as days progress, the curse begins to screw with your (outer-game) iOS too. I for one want more horror-based iOS apps, and it WOULD be nice to see more than one app in the search results when I search for Atlus USA in the App Store. >.>;

First, nanashi no Game, "The Nameless Game." The Nameless Game is an interesting sounding DS title where you try to solve the mystery of a cursed game that kills you if you don't beat it in seven days. Separated into two parts, the titular 8-bit game, and the "real world" exploration which is done in first-person segments by holding your DS book-wise and using your stylus to move, I think this might be fun for fans of retro games and genuine survival horror (the "holy -your mother is a classy lady- a zombie I gotta run or hide!" kind of survival horror, not the "WAAAUGH ZOMBIE GOTTA SHOOT IT DEAD" kind that the RE series has spawned via ludicrous numbers of knock-off games.)

I can definitely see this never being released seeing as it was released by 'teh squeenix' so getting the rights would be red tape hell... and it was released a good four years ago... and because of the 3DS... but hey, the 3DS can play original DS games, so no reason why not. And it can't hurt to recommend this and try to get it as a swan song for the original DS, right? And it got good reviews when it was released, too.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanashi_no_Game

http://www.cubed3.com/review/643/

-------------------

Next, the sequel, Nanashi no Game: Me, "The Nameless Game: Eye" The story follows a college anthropology student as he discovers the cursed RPG, as well as a cursed platformer. The game's title refers to the protagonist's left eye, represented by the left screen of the DS when held sideways, which can see supernatural events. According to a Famitsu site, it made it into the top 30 of a game list.

And on a segway, the internal cursed games for this sequel have releases for DSiWare if I recall:

http://tinycartridge.com/post/114548...epy-retro-game

http://www.siliconera.com/2009/09/04...hexes-dsiware/

-------------------
And finally, the most recent game, for the iOS and soon to be Android release, Nanashi no Appli, "The Nameless App"

Partially because I'm a bit bitter the DS games (yes, the first one had a sequel) still haven't made it over, I'm requesting it since there's no chance in heck for Square-Enix to release it since they didn't release the first DS game due to the opinions of their focus group on the game ("DURRHURR FIRST PERSON IS FOR SHOOTING THINGS DEAD NOT FOR IMMERSION HURRDURR") As with the DS games, I understand there might be some kind of red tape mountain to get over in order to release this game. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure FPS gamers aren't the target for most iOS games by Squeenix anyway.

Here's a link to a news site for the game's JP release:
http://andriasang.com/comzri/nanashi_ios/

So TL;DR maybe Square might want to sell the rights (if they don't think it'll sell well because you don't kill something in the first-person parts) and make some cash that way?
