Ha, Guilty Gear XXX.... ;)
As much as I love GG and I want to see the series continue, right now I'd rather ASW focus on getting BB established and making a franchise out of that. Not that I consider BB a replacement for GG or anything, but BB is kind of where my focus is right now. And for GG we just got AC+ so speaking for myself, that should keep me busy for awhile.
Bottom line is that I'd like to see a proper sequel to X2 someday, but I'm not in a huge hurry. I see GG maybe doing what SF did after Third Strike and kind of disappearing for awhile, then maybe coming back at some point in the future if and when all the legal -your mother is a classy lady- with Sega gets worked out. Until then, BB is my new woman for the time being. :)
dude there was an interview with Daisuke Ishiwatari, and he confirmed that there will be other 2D games of GG.But he's continuing both 3D and 2D games. Now I don't know if maybe the games in 2D will focus on the past, future, or even the same time as overture but there will be more 2D games and 3D.He also stated that the next installment that is suppose to be a sequal to overture might not have the same battle system as this GG2.The only thing not confirmed is that is whether those 2D games will be HD games for next-gen consoles.so basically it's like Sengoku Basara.sometimes its 2D sometimes it's not.
I don't doubt there will be another 2D GG game at some point, it's just a question of when. We might see it next year, or like I said, ASW might pull a Capcom and wait a decade before giving us another real sequel.
yeah maybe your right.Daisuke was doing the ST for BlazBlue.and because of Blazblue's rapid release.I doubt that he had time for GG.If blazblue is released year round(in japan at least like GG was,NA took a year or 2 for our releases.)Daisuke time might be pulled away again,(for more characters themes probably).
I don't thinks so.
There is still legal problem with SEGA, and that's why they made Blazblue: for GG fans.

Oh you didn't know.In the Interview Daisuke stated that the only thing Sega owns is the title.Meaning it will have to be say Sega on the credits and it it has to be published by them(in someway). The story concept, battle system, characters,is still made by Dasiuke Ishiwatari. If you noticed that Sega owned GG before GG2 had been released(after GGX2,sega had began to start publishing the games after.),but as you se Daisuke was still the one who made GGXXAC,it was credited by Arc because Sega did not contribute anything with the making of that game.what I'm saying is like GG2,maybe some things will change, but Daisuke still is the General Director. So now it all counts on his time.they made blazblue because like Mori said,he's been wanting to do it.So you can take it like they made it for GG fans, but remember that even if they did,it's because mainly GG won't just be 2D anymore.like I stated it will be 3D and 2D.and it is quite easy to give up hope and think because Ishiwatari has done the OST for BB.But in other interviews he has said,"RIGHT NOW my focus is on Blazblue".
I thought the legal stuff with Sega was a little more complicated than that... Hrm. :/

it is.But I'm thinking that sega has GG,its just that Ishiwatari is still the gerneral Director of GG.now how I'm thinking there doing that is letting him make the game(or at least direct it)but it will just be liscensed published or whatever. What I'm saying is no lie.But the thing you can believe in more(if you don't believe me) is that there will be more 2D and 3D GG games.Daisuke said he wanted to keep trying new things. There is no problems with sega at all.My conclusion to there being no(totaly new not translated and released in U.S.)GG this year is BB OST was done by Ishiwatari(and doubt Ishiwatari didn't have something to do with the graphics or something in BB).about characters in GG more of them will return to(at least that much he says)in the sequel to overture. however Daisuke wants to keep trying new things. So Overture's RTS system probably won't be the system the next game uses. Now where the 2D games play in this I don't if it is double release or takes the place of the GG franchise that time around. But the man line is there is no issue with sega, there hasn't been an issue.Daisuke chose to do that with GG.Others choose to think theres an issue because they question will there be another GG title, how will it be brought up,or can't can't accept that it's not ASW's anymore.Me,well hearing that Daisuke said it there will be a sequel to GG2 and more 2D games, well as long as he said it,I don't have a problem with sega and everything else. The only thing I question is that how much will Daisuke be included in the game.
Yep he's right. Daisuke still owns the right to all the characters. One interview stats that the reason why all of them aren't in "OVERTURE" is because he wanted to try out the system with new characters.(besides the fact that Ky, Sol, Raven, and "THAT MAN" are still in this.) But still I can't wait for the next game.
I don't know about the rest of you, I would by far be more excited for a next generation Guilty Gear than I am for Blazblue. Don't get me wrong, Blazblue does look pretty good, and I am going to buy it, but the characters don't hold a candle to the unique design and personality of the Guilty Gear universe.
Now though I am glad that AKSYS is developing new IPs, it's starting to look like they are trying to replace Guilty Gear, and that's just not possible, surely not with BlazBlue. If this new IP somehow meant the death of Guilty Gear, well.. I'd be pissed.
Now what I really want to see is a new next generation 2D Guilty Gear, not just with higher definition sprites, but I'd love to see them go all out with the Animation, King of Fighters 12 style. Throw in an in-depth story mode, make it a real successor to Guilty Gear X2 and it'd be a dream come true.

Yeah, what is up with that anyway?. What's going on with the whole Sega thing?.. People are saying they own the name, but Daisuke owns everything else. Who does Daisuke work for, and what is going on with all of that?
I don't know a lot myself. You probably already read this, but here's part of the interview that explains what there is to know:
This is a tough question, I don't know if you can answer it, but there have been some rumors on the net about Guilty Gear and Sega getting the rights, which is why [Arc System Works' Dynasty Warriors-style action title] Guilty Gear 2: Overture didn't feature too many older characters -- and stuff that I don't really understand. Though you might not be able to provide any answers...DI: Right, I might not be able to provide answers there.
You know, rumors... on the Internet...
DI: Yeah, I can't really talk about it much... except to say that they're basically true. (laughs)
But, hey, Guilty Gear: Heroes!

Pretty much says it all. But, hey, Guilty Gear: Heroes!
As me and LuciferD666 said- It's not that Daisuke Ishiwatari won't put the all the characters (or can't for that matter). Daisuke still is the general director of GUILTY GEAR itself. As we speak he annouced that they are already planning on a new sequel to the "2" series. The gameplay may not be the same because he's testing new battle systems. in conclusion to that, DI also said that information on the next game can not be leaked at this moment.
Oh and let me get this straight.
Daisuke did not choose the Dynasty Warriors game as a blue-print for "Overture".
GUILTY GEAR rights was aligned with Sega ever since after "X-2".
I kind of wish people would stop comparing the cast of GG to BB. Just because the characters in BB aren't quite as outlandish as GG doesn't mean they're boring. Play Street Fighter IV and then tell me the cast of BB is uninteresting. As for their personalities, play closer attention. Every character in that game is crazy as hell! :D
Oh god, the SF4 cast is what made me stop playing. Essentially it's part of a bigger argument towards enjoying the game. Going back to street fighter, I enjoy the mechanics of some characters but they are just so BORING aesthetically and story wise that I just couldn't be bothered to practice alot.
I guess it just has to do with being used to the intense creativity of the GG cast.
I agree about street fighter. Though 3rd strike actually some SOME cool and original characters, the cast is mostly boring.. but just because Street Fighter is boring, doesn't make the cast of Blazblue anymore interesting.
at the end of the day, the character cast shouldnt matter. what should be on the mind of the player should releatively be the gameplay as well as ur own proformance within it
I disagree. I believe the cast of a fighting game is hugely important. It's one of the main things that sets it apart from the competition, and what gives it a distinguishing mark in the industry.
Now of course the mechanics as well play a larger role in the game, but from what I've seen Blazblue plays quite similar to Guilty-Gear. That's fine of course, I'd say that Guilty Gear is easily the best fighting game series ever, with only a few even holding a close candle to it, but.. What made me fall in love with Guilty Gear wasn't just the mechanics, it was the cast and the fact that they actually tried to tell a story... and the music.
