Ni no Kuni: Shikkoku no Madoshi (Second Land: The Jet-Black Mage) hasn't been doing very well in the sales department and frankly, I blame those awful inflated prices.
Now we can all rejoice, as the $80 price tag has been slashed away.
Amazon.jp has the game going for 30% off at 4,772 yen. Meanwhile, AmiAmi, too, are selling Ni no Kuni at 44% off at 3,450 yen.
AmiAmi offers international shipping, so if you are interested in the game then this is the perfect opportunity.
If you would like to know more about the game then I suggest this link and this one as well.

This is just damn sad. I have high expectations of the game, and I know this doesn't determine if it is good or not, but come on...... it is on the DS, is a JRPG, is by Studio Ghibli and Level 5, and the animation is pretty..... not to mention it gets great scores, the story I am hearing sounds great, and all that..... It deserves more sales. Simple enough as it is. From the looks of it, it LOOKS like it plays similar to Dragon Quest too, so come on Japan......Level 5 + Dragon Quest..... Level 5 + Ghibli with a Dragon Quest feel......
I hope this doesn't effect the PS3 version, or it coming to the US any.

Why is this sad? Now people can actually buy the game and still have some money for food and other wordly necessities. Tell me, have you ever spent $80 for a Nintendo DS game? Or for a video game in general?

Glad to see that price gouging didn't work. At least over here we have a maximum price of $60, Sony's Japanese branch needs to look into one of those.
Anyways, it's good to hear this. I'd like to see it localized too, on PS3.
Semi-related thought: doesn't Hayao Miyazuki hate video games? I thought that after Nausicaa's adaptation was a shmup, he started hating them?

Oh, wait.... didn't catch that.... for a second, I forgot it was a NDS game we are talking about here..... freak....80 bucks? Why did they think that was a good idea?
And yes, I have bought games at 80 before. Mostly imports.

I really hope this game ends up doing better in the long run, it looks fantastic. Hopefully at least one version gets localized.
On the price, $80 is definitely expensive for a DS game in Japan, but it's not abnormal at all for video game prices in general to be that high over there. As far as I know, hi-def games regularly retail for over 90 dollars there, so an 80 dollar game isn't quite as insane as it may sound.
