I only just now found out about this game so I missed all the fun in preordering everything!
I would have been glad to pay extra for the preorder watch so my question is are there any more left?
If not is someone willing to trade one for under $100?
I really wanted to do a cosplay of the characters and I'll need the watch for this!
Will there ever be any more 999 watches?

OH THANK GOD
cause I checked the site and it said they were gone forever and I panicked. I was hoping it was a mistake :DPosted 2 years ago # -
Unfortunately, the bundles have all sold out.
We're currently waiting on our re-order of copies of 999, which should arrive early next month, but alas, we're no longer offering the bundle on our online site. Only the game. :(

oh darn. So that's all the watches everywhere except for private traders then?
Oh well I guess I'll have to go to eBay if I want my cosplay. Thanks anyway and I can't wait to finish this awesome game!

Btw when you get the games back in stock how much are they?

Is there any chance of you guys getting a reprint on the watches? =( It seems like there's still a ton of interest, and many people are upset that they missed out... including me.
I'm sure you'd have no trouble selling them all again if you get another batch... please tell me this might be possible? ;~;

There's no doubt about the demand being there or not. But there's that whole issue with an item being something of a limited edition, and a gift for people who purchase earlier on being handed out again.
You appease the newer people (and the jerks who bought solely to resell on eBay for more than the cost of the entire bundle), but you tick off those early adopters of the game as well.
I never got a watch myself. And I'd love to get my hands on one, but I can't justify spending 60dollars on eBay to pick up an existing watch.
I'd love another release/more contests for watches like the 999 Caption Contest, but yeah... I can see why there wouldn't be.

I kinda understand, but, well, to be honest... isn't it a little petty if a watch reprint would tick off the early adopters? I would hope the reason they enjoy their watch is much more the fact that it is awesome, and less so the fact that it's ~*~ToTaLLy RaRe*~*. (I mean, if I had one, I'd want all my friends to have one too - for the group/0-9 factor XD )
The only people really being screwed would be the resellers... but I doubt anyone here would have a problem with that, haha. I guess the worst would be for those who already dropped the money on an expensive resold one, but... that's how it goes with collectibles like this.
Anyway, I'm really happy to see a niche game like this doing so well, though admittedly I have no idea how many watches were made, or how many copies of the game have sold. I do know I'm recommending it to everyone I know, though - watch or not.
Also, I just want to give my appreciation to Aksys for making the watches in the first place. =) Even if no more get produced, it's still a very awesome thing to have done to begin with, and I'd love if more companies did such fun and interesting things with their games. I only wish I knew about it earlier.

Sounds no more petty than asking for a reprint of it because you would rather not buy an existing one. Something I'm clearly guilty of. And I'm sure those that purchased their bundle to get the game and the ep0c watch of ep0c have rejoiced it as you describe.
But it's still a giant way to upset those launch customers who generally always get the short end of the stick. Like Apple's iPhone purchasers who paid an the standard early adopter premium. It was released for 600USD at launch. In two months, it was dropped to 400USD. Fast-forward to today and you can purchase the latest version with a minimum of twice the storage size of the original for 200USD.
And I don't see how it would hurt resellers. There's a stellar example going on right now. The Limited Edition 25th Anniversary Super Mario All-Stars game for the Wii sold out nation wide. It's MSRP was 29.99USD. And a week after its release, it was selling for 70.00USD+ on auction websites such as eBay and Yahoo Auctions.
Yesterday, Gamestop placed the game available for preorder again stating that the limited edition would be available for reprint on 3/13/11. This was prior to any official or confirmed announcement. It wasn't even in the store systems, nor was there a mass message from corporate about the deal. But it capped out within hours online. And it was removed from the website.
Toys-R-Us dealt with the same thing earlier this morning before editing it to limit 1 item per customer.
One might say that this hurts the resellers who still have their "sealed" copy, but it doesn't. I've seen four versions of this game pop up in my local craigslist. All of which were already sold before I contacted the people posting the ads, and for nearly twice MSRP when asking. And you can search for forums talking about how people already plan on stocking up.. again.
Reprints tend to only hurt those in the front and those who purchase one under the assumption its OoP in a secondary market like you mentioned. But it really does help those who lagged behind like myself. :)
Well, that's just what I suspect. Aksys has their own reasons and I doubt it's exactly, or near my thoughts anyways. But yeah, it was great of them to offer such a bonus for the game.
Bleh, now I want to get nine of the watches and hand them out to people I know. >_>

so... are the watches going to be available again??? I'm dying to get my paws on one of them but they're impossible to come by...

Weren't the watches a preorder bonus? They likely got a limited number made because it was only to be for preorders. I saw them bundled with the game in Aksys' store a long time ago, but that was probably just the extras they had left. *shrugs*
Can I not elicit even a sarcastic quip?Posted 2 years ago # -
There are no more watches. It is unlikely that will change.
As Rogue Ninja said, they were initially a pre-order bonus. We had some left over, so we sold those, but they are now gone. My apologies to people who didn't get one.
Also, I'm going to lock this thread, as this is more or less the final word re: The availability of 999 watches.
Data, data, data. I cannot make bricks without clay.
