DFK

My vote is for DFK.
I'm sure Aksys will edit the poll again to make it an actual poll when they get a chance so don't forget to come back and vote once that happens.

Will definitely be putting my vote in for Umineko. Would love to see a company like aksys localizing it. :P

Melty Blood. We really need a localized Melty Blood.
Umineko comes second place.

c'mon guys, we just got a fighter and a visual novel while a new shmup is long over-due

^ What visual novel? 999? I want something that isn't portable, and is playable on my PS3. =/
Plus, since I have a Wii and PS3, Cave games are completely out of the question for me.

Option 3. If Aksys ever brings over Deathsmiles II, I hope they keep the box art the same as the Japanese version. It has the best box art of any game ever.

Are You Alice? Or some other Visual novel Steins;Gate

1. Umineko
2. GalGun
3. Phantom BreakerPosted 2 years ago # -
Either Akai Katana Shin or DoDonPachi DaiFukkatsu. If they do DaiFukkatsu, they should do the same thing like Deathsmiles and combine all the content in one package(Ver 1.5 & Black Label). GO AKSYS!!!!
To show my support for Aksys and Rising Star:
I support Aksys Games and Rising Star Games for Akai Katana Shin(赤い刀 真).Posted 2 years ago # -
Cave titles.(More than DFK, Aki Katana)
Students Of The Round
Elminage 3
Aksys, please bring Students of The Round for the XBox360 and Elminage 3 for the PSP here. First person dungeon crawling deserves a chance.Posted 2 years ago # -
Have Aksys made any mention of DeathSmiles sales? Guessing they were disappointing or else surely they would have swooped in and picked up the sequel by now but it looks like it's sold out at Gamestop so it couldn't have bombed too hard. Guess it could be that they're waiting for the iPhone port of the first game which could spark some popularity into the DeathSmiles name.
Hopefully they'll at least grab DFK and Akai Katana just based on the fact that they're so different than DeathSmiles and could appeal to a wider market because no doubt a lot of people dismissed DeathSmiles just based on the goth-loli aesthetic and no doubt a lot of people prefer vert shmups over hori shmups.
But as I said in the other thread, I think the main thing is cheap entry-price because you won't grab the mainstream with their "lolz $50 for a 20 minute game" complaints but these same people are going to ignore all of the bells and whistles that these games come with so I think it would be better to sell the base game super cheap and sell the bells and whistles separately.
Using DFK as an example...
DFK 1.5 disk could be $20
Black Label could be $15 DLC
Ketsui Arrange could be $15 DLC
= $50 for the complete packageThe audience who buys these games because they're hardcore shmups fans will definitely buy the DLC and the $20 base price will attract the more mainstream casual shmup players that don't play anything outside of Ikaruga.
Would love to see DFK regardless but if profitability is a problem, I think you guys should adopt this model.

My vote's for a CAVE game, any one will do (although I do prefer hori. to vert.)
I would have voted for Melty Blood, but I'm going to wait until a new port actually exists to do so.

I actually think that if Aksys were to continue doing visual novels, they would be on portables for a while yet, since it's cheaper to produce and sell, and visual novels are about as niche as you can get.

Truth be told, we are all under the assumption that Visual Novels would do terrible on consoles when, we have no proof to this. We still lack story games. We haven't had a localized Visual Novel on a console in like....ever, if ever. IMO, you cannot say much of anything until we have true statistics on the matter.... which, seems like will never happen, since companies these days never want to give anything a chance.
Do I think they would make million copy sales? No, but does that mean they would truly flop? I don't think so. Before I truly ever believe that, I want to see an anticipated Visual Novel get localized first for the consoles, before that assumption is labeled fact.
