It's a Contra spinoff from ASW out on XBL right now (PSN next month). I'm surprised no one on this board is talking about it, given that it's an ASW game.
Anyone played Hard Corps: Uprising?

I've been looking forward to this game, but I can't believe I didn't notice it was from ASW!

I have played it and it is awesome. It's supposedly a prequel to Contra: Hard Corps for Sega Genesis. It's basically old-school Contra with anime-style graphics and some extra features. There's an Arcade mode which plays like regular Contra and is hard as hell. And then there's Rising Mode which gives you a health bar (like the Japanese version of Contra: Hard Corps) and the ability to level up your characters. Speaking of characters, you get two to start off with: Bahamut and Krystal. Bahamut should be familiar if you've played Contra: Hard Corps, where ironically enough he was the main villain. This could be a different character however. Krystal is a war orphan who fights on Bahamut's side against the Commonwealth, the main antagonists of the game. Two other characters are available via DLC: Harley Daniels and Sayuri. Sayuri is the most interesting of the two since, get this, she uses a sword. Swordplay in a Contra game, never thought I'd see the day. There are also other abilites like double-jumping, dashing (on the ground and in the air), and the ability to deflect enemy bullets, the last one I believe you have to obtain during Rising Mode play.
All-in-all this game retains the spirit of Contra while adding enough new elements to keep it fresh. The only bad thing I can gripe about is the long loading time between stages. Anyone who enjoys run-and-gun shooters but won't mind it being taken in a new direction should pick this up.
P.S. - I just realized I sound like a -your mother is a classy lady- video game reviewer.

Trust me, it's an awesome game. Basically old-school Contra, but with BlazBlue's graphics.

Fifteen bucks for the game. The two DLC characters are 2.50 each I think.

1200 MSP. That's $15, as has been previously mentioned (it's really not that hard to convert between them). A little on the upper side, but well worth it.

Does anyone have the character artwork from the game? I'm looking for a Leviathan portrait.
