Huh? What do you mean? I'm a PC owner, but I couldn't care less about the value of my game, just the fact that there's a possibility the game could get released yet again, and a remake at that.

Even if it wasn't perfect, I would have loved to own it, including all the bad mistakes, "naturally, I knows the hacker" being my favorite.

But it was more of a joke. Sorry...

One "no" vote... I wonder what his/her reason is?

Never played a Visual Novel on anything other than the DS, would definitely invest in this.
It's a Fez.
I wear a Fez now.
Fez's are cool.Posted 2 years ago # -
While I don't think I'll be getting an Xbox 360 anytime soon, I thought I'd show my support. Thanks for reminding me of this series! I was going to try Clannad or the upcoming Rewrite as my next VN after only playing 07th Expansion titles. But as the Infinity series seems more like a mystery than a dating game, it might be even more to my liking. So maybe I'll try to get a copy of one on PC next rather than Key games, maybe it will be this very Ever17.

This could make me given in and buy a X360 sometime this year... :I

Why are there so many visualnovel fans on this board, only a day old and already two pages. whatevs, not sure if I'm the target audience, even though these games are geared for multiple play-throughs I never feel like playing the same oldshit just to get to the new parts, can't stand replayability in story-based games and if you ignore that then you're looking at a game that will last you only an afternoon and that's just not worth any price tag under 10 bucks so I'd rather see it on xbla/psn

Then perhaps you've been playing them wrong all this time (if at all). Most modern adventure games/visual novels have a "skip already read" function that will speed through any text you read the first time and only stop when you've gotten to new text/at selection points.

Perhaps this genre is not for you then? Other people feel that a FPS with a measly 5-hour singleplayer and some complex multiplayer that they'll never touch is not worth more than $10. Everyone has their own tastes, but it doesn't make the product worth any less. The amount of content in such games is equivalent.

how can you say the content is the same when you're comparing two totally different experiences?

how can you say the content is the same when you're comparing two totally different experiences?Because it's not. It's about the amount of time someone WILL put into it. A fan of a visual novel will get the full experience, all the times and paths and CGI and everything that there is to unlock. However, if that person hates FPS games (such as myself) they'll be lucky to put in the 5 hours for the single player, and probably never touch multiplayer. Just like you're getting the game for all the wrong reasons if you expect one playthrough to be enough, someone buying an FPS for single player and never touching the multiplayer is missing the main aspect of the game.
Furthermore, if you learn to be more analytical while reading or playing, it NEVER gets boring. You can see all the little details, figurative language, allusions, foreshadowing, etc. etc. that the author has woven in. If you only read or play to enjoy the surface, then of course you won't see the full value.

how can you say the content is the same when you're comparing two totally different experiences? We can say that the content is the same because we all have different perspectives. For example, I personally don't really like FPS because I find them monotonous and boring after a while because the story is weak or there is no story at all. In addition, I don't like playing multiplayer games, so the multiplayer mode is completely useless to me.
However, when it comes to VNs, I love them for their deep storylines and great characters, because it gets me really involved in the game. A game can have the greatest gameplay in the world and it would mean nothing to me if it didn't have a good story. But a game with virtually no gameplay at all (Ever17) still manages to be my favorite game of all time because of the story, the characters, the mystery, the emotional drama, which makes all the difference to me.
But I do acknowledge that this is different for other people. People are free to have their own opinions after all, and just because I don't like FPS's doesn't mean that I don't think people should play them. On the contrary, people out there get more out of the gameplay than the story, and that's perfectly fine with me, because their getting the same kind of content that I'm getting out of Ever17, just in a completely other way.
So that's what we means when we say that these genres have the same amount of content. You're perfectly free to have your own opinion, and I can respect it if you don't like VNs. However, if that's the case, then please don't antagonize us over what we like and just leave our topic alone. I'm okay that you don't like VNs, but that doesn't mean you should just complain about it on a topic and board filled with VN fans.
EDIT: Oh, and I didn't notice what the above poster was writing when I wrote this, but I share his opinion too.

how can you say the content is the same when you're comparing two totally different experiences? And just to add a 3rd spin to this :p, it's the same because it all depends on what kind of fan you are. If I am an enthusiastic multiplayer FPS fan, I will likely get an enormous amount of content out of a game like BLOPs. I will play the heck out of the single player, then I will jump online and kick it with other players and get Prestige, Medals, EXP, and all of that and pump hours into the game. For a fan like me, there is enough content to satisfy me for hours on end.
On the other side, if I am an enthusiastic VN/Adventure game fan, a game like Ever17 has enough content to keep me occupied for hours on end. I will play the heck out of the main route, and then I will jump around and comb all the other routes and choices, and then once I'm finished I will sit back and analyze and think about my experience and reflect. I will enjoy the high quality OST, I will enjoy the animated visuals and cutscenes and pump hours into the game. For a fan like me, there is enough content to justify hours worth of entertainment on end.
Hopefully you can see what I'm getting at here, I can do the same for other genres like Cave shmups and fighting games and so on. The point is just because it may not be a genre to a certain person's liking, it doesn't mean it's any less in terms of content and value in comparison to other games. All sorts of developers work hard to give value to all the kinds of games/genres that we play, and if you have an open mind, they are all equally worth spending hours of your life enjoying. :)

Guys, he only said he wasn't a VN fan.
First, pointing out flaws with shooters is no way to get your message across. It will either make your opinion less valid to them (differing tastes) or do nothing (they dislike shooters too, and already understand it).
Second, There's no real need to begin boasting about value because he said it wouldn't even be worth 10 bucks if you only play through it once. Would you spend $10 just to see You's bad ending? Hell no I wouldn't!
It should also be noted that the "skip already read" function is flawed in Ever17. It forces you to reread things that you've read before twice (Takeshi & Kid perspectives), and sometimes you still have to reread the exact. same. stuff. (these moments are few and far between, but still). Also with the game being as lengthy as it is, the skip function should be much faster. But I digress, it doesn't detract from the experience, and maybe the 360 version will be better with it.

I don't think they were so much trying to attack or convert him as they were simply explaining why there's enough value to justify the price tag for them personally. No harm in that. It's all about perceived value in this industry, anyway.
Have any other games in this series been localized at all? I'm new to VNs and this seems like a good place to start.
