Even if Deathsmiles was profitable (and to me personally, "reasonably satisfied" sounds like decent profit), that doesn't necessarily mean they'd pursue more Cave games. Could be they're busy working away on Agarest Zero or some other time-consuming title and they just don't have time or room for another project at the moment. Could be any number of reasons, actually. Boycotting isn't going to get anyone anywhere, at any rate.
AKSYS can we get an official statement on your reaction to the sales of DS?

Vote with your wallet, man. Get enough votes and things will change.
Can't support a company that doesn't support good games.

Well then, we're gonna have to support it more rigerously then =p.

Genius! Genius! Genius!
Let's take it a step further and not buy any game on any system! That way Cave will have no choice but to make their own game system; Caveageddon 32X.
I'm actually glad to hear it was met with some success. That is way better than hearing "no sh*!sux'd!", right? Honestly, good on them.
Deep down, though, I was hoping DS would open the gates to more games like it, you know? No one can conquer time, though.Posted 2 years ago # -
I'm bummed to hear that but all the boycott talk is just pointless from my perspective.
Aksys has taken chance after chance on bringing awesome games stateside and they we willing to localize a cave game, something that no other NA company has ever done.
Aksys freaking localized the BB Arcade version. Name one other console company that has done something like that? ...CAPCOM doesn't count because that is an in house release.

Chaining yourself to a tree might seem pointless too but people do it anyway because they're passionate and they care about the environment
Sad to see I'm the only one who cares

Good idea. Let's all boycott Aksys because they don't want to lose money bringing over games that nobody buys.
When we all stop buyng Aksys games, the boycott will force them to go out of business and those same games that nobody played still won't get ported and played.
Hopefully before Aksys goes bankrupt they will release more games that nobody plays, lose money on them, and then go bankrupt for making bad decisions rather than because of the boycott.
Your logic makes no sense.
Aksys brought Deathsmiles over (did anybody else?). They are the ones that took a chance while other companies didn't. It didn't do well enough for them to look at bringing more over. Why would they want to try again.
Agarest has had the opposite fate.

I would be shocked if Agarest outsold DeathSmiles, at least on 360 alone
Posted 2 years ago # -
I don't know exact numbers, but I'm consistently getting the impression that Agarest did well (you even see it listed as one of their "popular titles" in their press releases alongside BlazBlue.) And again, they might have reasons other than sales for not pursuing more Cave games, and they didn't exactly say we'd never see more in the future.

I ask that you kindly refrain from placing your hands upon the panda.Posted 2 years ago # -
But there isn't anything accurate about VGChartz, it's all numbers they pull out of their ass

To me it is no surprise that a console that is starving for JRPGs would do decent for a new JRPG versus a niche shmup. People that like shmups probably also bought Agarest, while people who like RPGs wouldn't generally buy Deathsmiles.

Did you just say that an ideafactory game that came with a -your mother is a classy lady- pillow has mainstream appeal? Idea Factory games are niche as hell in Japan, no -your mother is a classy lady- way are you gonna tell me that it caused a sales explosion in NA
BOTH are niche games, both had loli porn marketing, would say that aside from genre they're pretty comparable

Well, now the tags for this thread are REALLY negative. Why can't we just stick with a "DeathSmiles" tag? Is that too hard? XDYeah, I just bothered paying attention to them for the first time (other than the fact someone marked it JUMBOCOCK for no reason).
Pretty lacking in PMA... If people are serious about those, why are they still posting on this forum???Neil Hamburger(Il buono): Why did God send Terri Schiavo to hell? For the sin of sloth.
D.Plainview(Il brutto): I have a competition in me. I want no one else to succeed. I hate most people.

I share Tokyo Sandblaster's disappointment, but not so much his nastiness. I do feel betrayed, though. When DeathSmiles was released, a big deal was made of the fact that DeathSmiles IIX was being released in Japan simultaneously. There was a tacit promise that we would be seeing DS2X stateside this upcoming June. And now we're not.
I feel like someone promised me an awesome cake, and when I followed them to inquire further about the cake, they wrestled me to the ground and sodomized me instead. Which is disappointing, to say the least. But it is what it is. At least I still have Atlus's Catherine to look forward to, a game which I never in a million years thought would come to North America. I might pick up Agarest Zero, I don't know. If I don't, it certainly won't be out of spite. I bought the first one because I had such a great time playing DeathSmiles, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core, and BlazBlue. Then I tried playing it, and I felt like a massive tool. It's definitely got a much bigger "I'm a creepy otaku" vibe to it than DeathSmiles. So I'll have to read the reviews. It definitely won't be a Day One purchase.
I hope someday Aksys reconsiders on shmups.

Thank you for keeping your venom to a minimum. It's refreshing n.n
The news saddens me as well, but for now, I will wait and see.
