I more or less agree with Kain. I bought Deathsmiles, Record Of Agarest Wars & Blazblue : CT/CS on their american launch day & paid full price for both of them. I also wanted to buy Arcana Heart 3 on the same console to play with my friend but I can't.

I am one of those who sent a message to Zen United to find an alternative, but their response does not help me at all.

I support you Aksys by buying your games but if you decide to continue with this policy through your games only on PSN, I will not buy them.

    Ps: I have a PS3 too but I don't buy DLC

So what is stopping you from picking up the disc based version of Arcana Hearts 3 from Zen? All PS3 games are region free.

I fail to see how its the same?
You got to friends house, you have to carry the PS3 with you or download the game which depending on the speed etc, it might be a hassle..

with the disk version you just carry the disk and voila you play, no download, you can carry it on your hand no need for a backpack or anything, be it PS3 or 360 if It had been released that way.

In my personal case, carrying the PS3 out of my house is annoying. Since videogame systems began using optical media for game storage, I've felt a tremendous anxiety when moving the around. Those are precision apparatuses after all. That said, I do move my PS3 to a friend's in order to play sometimes. That's one of my two reasons for not liking digital distribution as much as a physical copy. Not like I see much wrong with it aside that and the issue of licenses already discussed. I want the game anyways, so I'm getting it.

So you use that as a crutch towards a decision against digital distribution. If that's the case then you shouldn't be buying any dlc for any game in which you possess. Using Blazblue as an example, that's locking yourself off from 2 characters already (soon to be 3) which is no bueno. It's especially disheartening for those that play those characters.

As for digital distribution, many points against it aren't valid negatives and hinge on personal preference. PC and most importantly steam users are less picky about it and go through HUGE downloads. There is also little to no resell value to a pc game as well as many outstanding games that are sold as digital only. Even so, carrying disc around you'll still have to patch any game connected to an internet connection as well as install game data. I'd rather take my own setup, provided there's a tv (though I have a spare I carry as well), then have to wait for all that to finish. What's going to be even more annoying to me personally is play at tourneys that lack updated patches and characters for a game. I've seen it happen plenty and that irks me more than having to carry my own console that has its dedicated padded case.

That's quite a reach there. Just because a couple characters are locked or you don't have some of the content, doesn't mean you have to restrict yourself. I happen to have copies of Fallout 3 for both 360 and PC (digital) with just the DLC for the PC version. I still bring along my 360 version to play whenever I'm away from my PC for an extended period of time. There's nothing wrong with having the game without the extras for a get-together with friends, as that usually means that they don't play the game and wouldn't care about a couple missing characters.

A hardcore BlazBlue friend of mine hasnt even bought any of the DLC characters.

with the disk you dont have to download or install anything (unless its a PS3 were there are mandatory installs)

fortunately PC's will continue to exist for many decades now, and STEAM has said that if they ever went bankrupt or closed down the servers, they would release a patch to remove DRM of their games so user can BURN and still play their games in the future. Neither Nintendo, MS or Sony have said what their plans for XBLA,PSN, Wii marketplace will be, hopefully we can assume they will continue to work on the new console, but once the servers close, you cant backup your games and if your consoles breaks down well there goes your hundreds of dollars of DLC and games.

Having the disk at least means that you can buy another console and use it there, the disk can get damaged over time though, I still have games that are 15 years or older and still work. However in 10-15 years you can still probably buy a copy of the game you want but you wouldnt be able with PSN or XBLA.

Just FYI, ps3 already has a backup tool built into the system already. You can export to an external at any time you feel like it. You just have to move everything at once. If you have ever replaced a ps3 drive you should be familiar with the process. I'm still waiting for 1.5tb or 2tb disc drives or a 1tb affordable ssd to hit market before my next upgrade.

yes you can do that on the 360 also everything is saved in your download history like you said. I am from the old school....i start playing games on Atari 2600 so i know how this person feels having a physical copy of something.
I had a Sega Saturn and 80 games and i sold everything for around $2,750 i could not do that with a download game.

I started with the Atari 2600, too (and NES), but I'm more than willing to let them go for the digital counter part (well, not for the Atari. I'll just let that go).
I live a tight space, and I doubt mean I have zebra carpet and a heart shaped bed - it's small so I only keep what I really, really, REALLY like. I sell/give away anything else, including games and systems.
Not that you or anyone should put all your eggs in the digital basket, there is still a long ways to go, but just to show you my perspective I can't wait till the companies work out the kinks so I can fully embrace the digital age.
Like I said, it's a longs way, and even longer way to gain confidence of consumers. I think when computers/console systems start carrying terabytes with G6 processing units on top of excellent digital service, people will feel a little more secure about things like DD.

I know you can do that, but.. who know if PSN will exist in the near future, if it ceases to exist or changes for example how Xbox 1 servers were brought down, you wont be able to recover those games, so it would be like you getting robbed of them all.
