Just been catching up on my backlog of rpgs. Don't need online for any of that. :)

Which rpgs would that be? I have a plethora myself I need to catch up on as well lol. I've been meaning to finish Resonance of Fate for months now...I have yet to continue that one. I kinda left off at the intro to chapter 2. Still provides a good laugh.
As for rpgs, I guess I could continue with Ar tonelico...

I played the first two of those. I got frustrated with the second one so I probably won't be playing the third lol.

Same happened for Neptunia and Trinity Universe though unfortunately I paid for trinity universe out of a lack of games to buy one day and was even more disappointed than I originally was and I called myself giving it a chance.

I own the other two games and I enjoyed the story for those, so it would be odd not to finish a story.
As for Trinity and Neptunia, Trinity was disapointing, though I did enjoy the many references of anime/games in Neptunia, as obvious as they were. Gameplay was saddly repetitive though for both games, but Neptunia manages to improve, in some ways, on Trinity's system.

Are Neptune and trinity Universe that bad? I have both unopened gathering dust on my shelf until I finish a backlog and get un-addicted to blazblue and Arcana Heart. I really like Ar Tonelico =( Best rpgs i've played this gen are Tales of Vesperia and Tales of Graces F; I 100% both with nearly 200 hours. lol

LoH: Trails in the Sky was a huge boost in my RPG gaming morale, after so many letdowns. Reminded me why I used to love jRPGs so much.
I may be exaggerating, but sometimes it at least "feels" like most jRPGs these days have pretty simple development checklist.
Moe lolicon girls : check
Repetitive battle system : check
Absence of compelling story: check...
Not trying to insult anyones favorite games, just when I look at the overall RPG lineup the past couple years, I cant help but feeling that way.

Neptune does manages to improve the system that Trinity started, but not by much.
Story wise, Trinity manages to tell a story to some degree, but it's not very consistent. Neptune...there's a story, but it's harder to grasp that than putting together a jigsaw puzzle (in which, how the story is like.)
Considering their Nis America games, I still bought them. I know their not the best games, but to me, at least it's something to play for a good laugh from time to time.

Hmm...
Moe lolicon girls: Nothing wrong with that
Reptitive battle system: Nothing's more repetitive than the Dynasty Warrior games
Absence of a compelling story: If everything else is good or top notch, I don't mind...sometimesMore often than not, the game play is what hooks me. If it's not going to be fun to some degree, I can't get hooked to it. Even the Dynasty Warriors latest game, despite the repetitiveness, still manages to hook me through the game play and story(switching weapons and how the story is told, which is little more accurate this time around, according to the novel.)

I feel the same way honestly but its just a matter of personal preference. The only jrpgs that even hold my interest are those coming out of Atlus and the outstanding translation Aksys did for ROAW and Blazing Souls Accelate. I'll be buying ROAW:Z on release as well. Honestly I will go ahead and throw Yakuza 3 and 4 in there as well as it carries a heavy story and a real man's game. Resonance of Fate I give some props to and the Valykria Chronicles (not the sequel). Overall, everything else just about was a let down.

I didn't care for VC2's characters or setting at all. It did however improve on the first games mechanics. It was no longer a rock, paper, scout game. Actually, who am I kidding, it was a game of scouts as soon as they classed up and got the grenade launcher.
