I'm sorry to double post here, but I think it's ridiculous what Idea Factory did with Record of Agarest War Zero. I must say that I love this game, but there are many, many flaws.
First, the game is exactly like the first game. The plot is the same, the battles play out the same, the story plays out the same, everything is the same, instead of the characters that, although look different, only have their names and appearances different (their role in the game is the same as a lot of characters from the first game, like Dyshana-Mimel, Ellis-Alice, Borgnine-Galios, Winfield-Eugene, Elaine-Friedelinde, and many, many more).
Second of all, there are only two generations, and they are as long as each generation from the first game, meaning you're paying U$60 for less content than you can get now for U$30.
Third, is what they do to make you think the generations are longer, they enhanced the difficulty by a lot. I started the first game, first time, on HARD and never had any problem. I didn't know anything about the game, had only a few DLCs, and played throughout the game without a single stepback. Now, playing Zero, I'm playing on Normal, with DLC and from a Save File from the first game, and I can't even advance without having to play it over and over because the enemies get 10 times harder on the very next stage.
And fourth, not Idea Factory's problem, but Aksys', the script sucks. It sucks even more than the first game. It's a lot worse. Seriously, it's that horrible. Many will say: "hey, I think it's okay", well, it's not. The first game had a dull script, not IF's fault, because you could clearly see that it was the translator's fault, like using the same god damn sentence a million times in the game. I'm a foreigner, and I know many ways of asking :"Is something amiss?", and still the translator only uses that same sentence. I think you can do better, if even I can and english is not my native language.
Honestly, I'll tell you guys what I'll be doing: nothing. I'm not playing this game for awhile, and I'm starting to regret the price I paid (thank god I paid only U$50 for the regular version). I'll delete my save data, and I'll wait. Wait until all the DLC is out, see what's good, spend a few bucks with it and start over on Hard, spending all TP, PP, EP, all these things to make me overpower.
I like the game, only because I loved the first one, but it's not worth the full price (for an undubbed version, look at that). I'd rather pay the same price for any quality upcoming game, like Catherine or Disgaea 4. If I had known this, I'd wait for a price drop and then wait a little more.
You won't see a lot of rants about games from me, because I'm an JRPG-fan, and I even enjoyed freaking Last Rebellion. I'm not some angry kid from the internet that registered just to rant, I'm a loyal customer from Aksys, a fan, I've been here for a long time, but I needed to post this. Not everything is Aksys' fault (mostly, it's Idea Factory), but Aksys have it's share and I'd like any feedback about what it's your doing.
