Since the first airing of this series is due on Niconico in the not-too-distant future, I figured there may be one or two people interested in talking about it...
Kinda hope it was better than the remake of Fate/Stay Night
To be fair, I think Fate/Zero fits the [action] anime format better than Fate/Stay Night ever could. For one thing, it's totally linear, so there's none of those annoying moments when the show tries to fuse multiple storylines with pretty much no success.
It also has drama. Lots of drama. Cannot wait. Cannot wait.
The Fate/stay night anime was also made by Studio DEEN, who is notoriously bad at making anime adaptations of VNs to begin with (just as Umineko and Higurashi fans). There were a lot of things wrong with the F/SN anime, from trying to add UBW and HF elements to the Fate route when they don't fit and then ignoring the actually important parts of UBW and HF... to silly things like making Gilgamesh's Gate of Babylon look like toothpicks being sent flying of light rather than, you know, swords. It was all around a mediocre to lame anime.
The upcoming Fate/Zero anime, on the other hand, is being made by ufotable, who also made the Kara no Kyoukai movies (another Nasu work), so we know we are in for a generally much better anime with this one. It'll be great, I can feel it.

Love the ending of Kara no Kyoukai
That. Was. EPIC.
Why do I have to wait another week..... wahhhhh
So...how would I go about watching this? I just keep getting constant black screen with some moon in the center. Vastly interested nonetheless.
The last scene was just epic! Waiting till next Saturday really sucks...
Lynx, you can check out youtube, it's up there for now, or download the episode and watch it in 720p. =P

Some fansub are encoding in Hi10P for the video

lol, I laughed at the comments there. And gotta say, Caster FTW!
In case anyone missed it, Crunchyroll are also hosting the series; though they seem to be a few steps behind the nicovideo release.
Here's a fun little comparison of Saber's stats between all her Master's.

The stats go like this
The Left side is
Strength
Endurance
Agility
And the Right Side is
Magical Energy
Luck
Noble Phantasm
So is anyone else seeing some sudden hate pop up for Stay/Night after Zero? like at least over on the GameFAQs boards (Yes they are absolutely terrible I know) I'm seeing nothing but praise for Zero and Urobuchi while constantly saying how terrible it makes Fate/Stay Night looks and now Urobuchi is superior to Nasu and blah blah
Like there's nothing wrong with loving the intense action of Zero and such, but it's like they completely miss the entire point of FSN, it's not SUPPOSED to be like Zero

If they're making this comparison now, rather than when the Fate Zero books were finally translated, then I'd expect that they are basing this comparison to the quality of the anime series. The FSN anime was Ok. I liked it, and had fun watching it. The Zero anime [and given that the best bits haven't happened yet] is pretty amazing.
I think the key thing is that Zero could survive the transition into "popular media" better that FSN could. It's pretty much about epic battles, and horrible betreyals, so I guess that's a bit easier to understand. The complex plot of FSN was not well suited to an anime transition, and as such key items that are relevant to the story are left out. I liked Shirou's character development in Fate, but there's no clear change in the anime between Shirou protecting Saber because she's a girl, and Shiou protecting Saber because she's a girl he liked, and doesn't want to see hurt. Oh, and Rin is not nearly as hilarious as she should be...
I guess it's hard to explain exactly what I mean, but there were some moments in the FSN Visual Novel that just made things click. I can't (and don't) expect everyone to play the original VN, but without that I think it's hard to make an informed decision
