It's a Japanese game. they just picked a couple of English words that sounded cool. That's what most Japanese English titles seem to be based on anyway.

Indeed, I am to. It seems like there's angels now as well. Their not typically in fantasy RPGs >.> but then again they could be just a winged race like in the Breath of Fire series.

Official website has been update. Apparently if you look under NPCs it shows dragon people race as well, also voices are included.

Tried the PS3 demo and the artwork is gorgeous. Didn't understand a lot of it but the soundtrack was really nice to listen to. :]

Yes, yes, and yes! I just finished skimming through the Japanese version, and the story was beautiful! The character development was definitely the best part. There are more detailed summaries out there, so anyone who's interested should google them up~! <3
If Hakuoki does well, Beyond the Future should be the next otome game Aksys should go for!

Eh~ I don't see romance/RPG games geared towards girls often... sure visual novels, but not actual RPGs.

And the game trailer made me... laugh. The scenes they showed seemed so cheesy to me. XD

I'd still play it though. I'm a big RPG fan. ^-^

To those that have played it, are the world and atmosphere good? Fleshed out, etc? Sort of like a fantasy version of what Mass Effect did with sci-fi?

Looks like it's not an RPG as some had hoped, but a visual novel (which isn't overly surprising I guess).

EDIT: although I just saw a "status" screen with some numbers, so I'm confused about the game play mechanics. Yep, I'm useful.

I'm pretty sure it's a visual novel that's stylized to make it feel like an RPG but it's not really one.
