Hi.
As noted above, this thread will most likely be somewhat not-so-spoiler-light; so rather than simply encase the whole thing in the spoiler tags, I'm noting this in the title instead.
Back when I played the Japanese edition (before it was announced that Aksys would bring the title over), the one thing that caused me the most trouble was my inability to unlock Matrix Level E with Caster. (I first played through with Archer, and then with Saber; neither had any particular problem with reaching MLE. The third and last run, with Caster, was not so fortunate.)
At the time, I eventually gave up trying and just finished without unlocking it; while it was a somewhat bittersweet way to end things (not least since, at the risk of showing too much emotional investment in a fictional character) it kind of felt like I, or rather my in-game protagonist counterpart, wasn't quite good enough for Caster in the end. At least I could chalk it up to not catching the various conversational options early on; and that if (and as it turned out, when) the English version was out, I could try and do better.
So, fast forward to the Aksys release, and the seventh week of my third run through (or sixth, if you count the three JP runs to that total). I get to the third day, trying not to get my hopes too high...
...and when I go into the room, the MLE event, what should be the pivotal moment when Caster and my MC come to terms with her former life...
...no dice.
That was over three weeks ago, and I still haven't been back to the game.
On the one hand, I could try to go back to an older save file, and re-play the game to try and get back to this point; but without being more certain about which choices/events/etc to take, I am loath to go through so much again only to end up messing it up a third time.
On the other, I could forget about it, and go finish up anyway; but, again, it kind of feels like I've been foun wanting; that, basically, all of the relationship stuff that Caster and the MC would talk about from that point onward is, essentially, a lie.
So, I don't know.
What I can say is that, without question, this is the one thing I hate the most about F/E (in either language); and I really wouldn't like to see a similar kind of thing added to CCC.
Did anyone else get caught up in any of this; or am I the only one?
