Isn't that a major typo? The way his kanji can read yama/san & nami/nan So it should be Sannan and not Sanan. D:

Well I've read that since Shinpachi in his memories didn't say how to read Sannan's name, it can be either Yamanami (usually people read it like that and in most works and stories based on the Shinsengumi they use Yamanami) or Sannan (Hakuoki decided to read it as Sannan instead of Yamanami, both in the game and the anime).
So basically this isn't a typo^^
I wouldn't call it a major typo. Maybe it's just a result of the localization process. Like Todo and Toudou, or Soji and Souji. You still know who he is, and it's pronounced the same way.
But I guess I'm not super picky so long as the meaning it still there.
i think sanan, sannan are both a huge mistake, because someone read the kanji wrong: it should be Yamanami!!
