No Preorder Code from Gamestop?

I preordered Guilty Gear 2: Overture from Gamestop and was told that it would come with the game. The store I preordered from told me they didn't get the codes in. They even called one of the neighboring stores for me and they didn't get the codes either. They told me to try giving Corporate a call. SOOOO, I did that and the guy on the line, an avid fan of the series himself, said he'd check into it. He came back and said they didn't even get any codes for issues like this one. He advised I try contacting Aksys, and thus, here I am.
SO Aksys, any way I can get a code? Thanks!Posted 3 years ago # -
That is a damn fine question. GameStop should have all the codes. We had all those tokens shipped straight from the printer to GameStop's distributing center. I'll double-check for you and see what the heck happened. This is terrible news if no one received a code.
On a related note, we can't give you the codes ourselves, because like I mentioned above, it went straight from the printer to GameStop. Also, can you give us the store number that didn't get the codes?I judge you when you use poor grammar.Posted 3 years ago # -
DOH!
Yeah, the store number is #5078 in Fayetteville, GA. The other store right around the corner that they called is #946.
We're a pretty devout following - us Guilty Gear heads that is - and for us to get screwed isn't fun...lol. The guys at store 5078 know me practically on a personal level (I work for Barnes & Noble - we have the same parent company) and I highly doubt they'd bs me on the whole thing.
Regardless of all that hub-bub, I'm greatly enjoying the game. So far I must say it's a wonderful localization and although I haven't heard US voices, I must say the translation hasn't lost me yet like some games that have been done in the past ;)Posted 3 years ago # -
OK, so we know for sure it's an issue at GameStop's end. We're talking with corporate and seeing what they're gonna do about it and how they're going to address it. I'll update this thread as more information comes.
If there's anyone else who wanders into this thread and hasn't received their pre-order codes, keep your receipts and give me the store number that didn't have your codes.I judge you when you use poor grammar.Posted 3 years ago # -
#3929 Lake Buena Vista, FL...
The store had two reserves, but only one code card...and appearently the other reservee showed up beforehand. I only signed up an account on your board to report this, so please advice what Aksys is going to do about it.
I'm not too upset about it, since it's only $1.25...but if the company is going to do something about it I'd might as well jump on-board as well.
I can produce a copy of my receipt at your request. Thank you.Posted 3 years ago # -

Man, GAmestop's really been failing hard with the pre-order bonuses lately. This same thing happened with Yggdra Union PSP and the soundtracks they were supposed to give out with pre-order copies.Posted 3 years ago #

Thanks for being on top of this for us. Aksys am my hero...heh.Posted 3 years ago #

This store is my local one and when I went into mine to pick it up, the employee didn't even know that they were giving out free bonuses for the game. I had mentioned I saw on their site that if you pre-order it, you'd get the code emailed to you, and so he took down my email on my name in their systems in case it will do it automatically that way. So far though as I type this no code has been emailed to me.Posted 3 years ago # -

Shipped from # 0480 but ordered online. Tried calling customer service first day but they said to contact the publisher also. Would it be better for me to call the main customer service again or try the store it was shipped from if I can?Posted 3 years ago #

Okay, I've reported all the store numbers above this post. I'm still waiting on a response from Gamestop, so hang in there, guys.
AllenR: No, the code itself is printed on a physical card, and it should have been handed to you when you picked up the game.
megas 333: In your case, the card should have been included with your shipment. It sounds like not every employee at GS knows about the cards. Hold off for now until I get a response from GS on what you guys should do next.I judge you when you use poor grammar.Posted 3 years ago # -
Wow, that was fast. OK, I got a response from Gamestop. If you haven't received your code, call GS customer service at 800-883-8895, explain your situation (that you didn't receive your preorder bonus), and to locate the store closest to you that still has some cards. In the meantime, GS is also trying to find any remaining cards to reallocate to the stores that I've reported above.
Edit: I have gotten a few phone calls from people who say that Gamestop is giving them the run-around, telling them to contact the original manufacturer. Ask to speak to a supervisor or manager (i.e. someone who knows what's actually going on) and has the power to do something about it.I judge you when you use poor grammar.Posted 3 years ago # -

The store recommended I call Gamestop's HQ. When I called them, they told me that if the pre-order code wasn't in the game (i.e. in the instructions manual), that I should contact the manufacturer.Posted 3 years ago # -

Thanks for the store number, dark. I'll report that to the higherups. As for the pre-order, it isn't supposed to be packaged with the game; it is a separate card that Gamestop is supposed to supply. Try calling them again, using the steps I mentioned above. I suppose I'll edit that post to be a little more clear.I judge you when you use poor grammar.Posted 3 years ago # -
Ugh....Talk about annoying. Seems Gamestop is just dropping the ball. It's silly since most of us who preordered the game seem to be the ones having problems. Pre-order schwag has always been a problem with some stores, but stores like mine (where I know the people who preorder are the ones who get the schwag) are even suffering. MEH I tell you.
I'm not sure that any stores nearby will have the cards since the game is out and preorder schwag dries up days after (ie, people who didn't preorder get it because the employees are generous.)
What's worse is I checked ebay for giggles and there isn't any on there either. Someone on Gamestop's end f-ed up it seems.
That all being said, will the costume be available for regular download on Live eventually? Us completists will want it regardless if we get a card or not.
Thanks for helping us out Heavenscent. I'm gonna go call Gamestop's HQ line....wish me luck.Posted 3 years ago # -

They are both located in the same Mall so they have the same address. Not too sure which one mine is. I'm very disappointed with thier customer service as well after recieving this email from thier help contact.
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting GameStop.com
All free bonus items are advertised as limited in supply and are issued in a first come first serve basis. Unfortunately we are not able to guarantee that all customers will receive these free items.
We look forward to your future business with GameStop.
Best Regards,

When I went to pick up my game the day of release and it was the only copy in the stores reserve drawer.. so I think I should've gotten my code. I am getting the run around as well. :(Posted 3 years ago # -
Wow, that was fantabulous.
Called, explained, told that the code should have been packaged with the game, I told 'Nicole' that 'No, it was an actual card' and she continued to rattle off that it should have been packaged in the game and they can't help that, blah blah blah.
SOOOO, as she rattled, I just jumped the gun and asked to speak to a supervisor. HELLO VOICEMAIL!
Nice.
Well there was my college try. Anyone else who has luck, please let us know.Posted 3 years ago # -
Well I finally got my code. I was at the mall with a few of my friends and I decided to give gamestop another shot. I went inside and lucky for me the manager whom I am actually quite good friends with was there. He looked for a while and finally found it in a drawer.. funny thing was that he was on the phone with someone and they said they never recieved the codes >_>...
Well I hope the other players who are still missing codes recieve them.Posted 3 years ago #
