If Anyone can suggest any Heavy Metal or Death Metal Bands

Hey.Well so far I'm happy with my music:Nico touches the walls,killswitch engage,anything Daisuke Ishiwatari wrote,I'm really happy with Abingdon Boys Schools new Jap single that I've just bought.,Back-on girugamesh,Crush 40,Papa Roach.

I want to go deeper into the metal part of rock. I'm a guitarist and I only listen to a variety of sounds.If anyone knows any Heavy Metal/Death Metal bands.Please suggest some,and please add a little of their background if you want.

I'm looking for Mostly:
Heavy Metal:as in close to GG and BB music
Death Metal:as in close to Children of Bodom,All that Remains,Salt the Wound
But don't feel limited,please include any one you come up with.

This'll really help.

none of what you listed as death metal is even close to death metal.

anyway just listen to between the buried and me. they play metal of some kind.

In Flames is great melodeath, although the later albums tend to be a bit industrial, but it has a good sound anyways.

You could also try listening to Goatwhore and Despised Icon. Maybe even Cannabis Corpse and Watch Them Die.
They're all good in my book.

Also, listen to the almighty VIKING METAL.

Dangerous at both ends and crafty in the middle.

I'm sure everyone who really likes metal will make fun of me for mentioning these two, as their metal-ness is debatable, but I would suggest Dragonforce and Edguy.

Data, data, data. I cannot make bricks without clay.

Hey bro, Anyway you probrably haven't listened to them (because ur a -your mother is a classy lady-) but:

1: In Flames (like Shwa said)
Song: Only for the Weak (for starters)

2: Children of Bodom

3: Avenged Sevenfold (old school albums like "Waking the Fallen")

Thanks Shwa and Belisarius. By far I'm amazed at Dragon Force(Wow I really have to say they are very fast and Good.they can play the best seven minute songs ive ever heard).

And Edguy,Well my bro has already been listening to them and they are epic.

Shwa I'm astounded at Amon Amarth and they have probably even went up to my top 15(yeah 15).

Note I'd love to here favorite bands too(ecspeacially from the aksys people too)

Oh and japanese bands are included too just to let you know.

Wait wow I was just my recent post so I didn't see yours Adonaeus.You really helped me alot May I add that i found some sweet guitar tuning off of them also.The only band I didn't need from your list was The Gazette,Job for a Cowboy and Dragonforce.Thank you lots :).

No prob. You play guitar too? Awesome. I've spent a lot of time transcribing some Malice Mizer and Daisuke songs. I can't even touch some of Syu's (from Galneryus) or Herman Li's (from DragonFroce) riffs.

Well it doesn't matter it depends on the song you listen to.(BUT NO MATTER WHAT U SAY AT LEAST "SALT THE WOUND" IS "DEATH METAL"

Oh and I play guitar (I teach my stupid bro LuciferD666) but yeah I still need some perfections to take care of.

I can do cover of many bands but my favorite (right now) to cover is "JAP" from "Abington Boys School". I've even made revisons or full versions of songs like KOF 2003s Opening (they never made a fullversion so I thought I should).

Right now i'm searchin for band members so I haven't gotten time to play that much....It's pretty hard to find a drummer we're I live.....but at least I have a basist.

Oh and Adonaeus your not alone. I've tried to cover D.F. lots of times but you need "carpal tunnel" if you wanna play that DAMN fast....I don't get how they do. LOL

Eh, Dragonforce is... meh.
Almost every song contains "fire", "flames", "dragon", "might", etc.
And they sound almost pretty much the same.

And it sounds fairly old for something so recent.

Also, have you ever heard 'em live? Ick.
If I had a choice, I'd go with studio Dragonforce rather than live.

Also, Adoneus, Dimmu Borgir is black metal and Dir En Grey is avant-garde J-rock, despite a lot of it sounding f***ing metal. If there was one album for Dir En Grey I would recommend, it would be Six Ugly. 6 tracks, all awesome.
(especially "Mr. Newsman", that one just kicks so much ass)
Diru varies a lot, from passionately depressing ballads to -your mother is a classy lady- you just wanna fight to. :D
It's fun that they're actual rock and not like most "rock" I've heard over the past decade.

ANYWAYS, if you're interested in something pretty metal and chaotic, go for Buckethead's "The Cuckoo Clocks of Hell". All instrumental, from the most melodic pluckings to constant SHREDGASMs for your ears.

Ah yes Buckethead. Great stuff. Sorry about the Dimmu comment, I easily get my metal mixed up. I don't much care for black metal to begin with, but it's just my opinion.

And yeah I used to love DraonForce, but they really have no variety. I usually pass them up on my iPod nowadays. Their live performances are either really good or really bad; I've heard both feedback from friends.

No one mentioned Dark Tranquillity.
Their music is...Divine.
I can say they mix together death metal, poetry, melody and melancony in a song.
We'll, unless you listen to them, it's hard to explain their music, usually listed in the melodic death metal.
For power metal I suggest you Rapsody (the third disc), and try for Avantasia (that is not really bad).

Oh, and if you haven't done it before, listen to the music of the first GG: those are the best fruit of Daisuke's genious.

Just to name a few. There ya go.

I have forgot to suggest you the "Hardline" group, with the cd "II": it's the previous band of the singer of the crush 40.
It's really good, old times hard rock, pretty different from the crush 40 sonorities but I really enjoyed when it cames out (i found out the crush 40 later).
