   Okay maybe I'm mistaken but I can't have missed it in the dozen or so times I've tried it in ranked.

   I can do it in player matches, no problem, but in ranked, it never triggers. Can anyone help me to confirm whether I'm a newb or whether the problem is legit?

   Ranked Matches follow the arcade ruleset, so console-exclusive Astral Heats are disabled there. The only three that work are Ragna's, Rachel's, and v-13's (since they had theirs in the original arcade release).

   I could be wrong though. Can someone else confirm? I use Carl exclusively, and his Astral is near useless in a competitive setting, lol.

   That's messed up then since I never played in arcades but going into ranked it tells me astral heats are enabled, not for like select characters. That's caused me to lose a match or two.

   Erm...how are you performing the Astral Heat? If you are using the "Easy Special" (Right Stick), then that won't work. Ranked Matches do not allow Easy Specials or Unlimited Characters. People, it's not that it follows the Arcade rule settings at all. It's that Easy Specials are disabled.
