Ther's no discussion: GGII IS the REAL sequel of the first and original GG, as the title said. The plot finally goes on (after 10 years of waiting); the charachters are the essenzial ones (ky and sol, raven and that man);
Crytizing the style of the game is stupid, since it's the style of GG: look at the backgroungs of the first GG and tell me if they are not medieval-like (consider that, in the GG plot, tecnology is a crime).
Okay. *looks* They are not medieval-like. They really, really aren't. Where's my check?

HAAAAAaaah.... Another dissapointed fan trying to discourage Daisuke in HIS great work. I take it that you never played GG2:O because know matter what you say DI said Guilty Gear 2: Overture is (and will always be) the sequel to it's 2D franchise.
Let me explain to you (Because if you played the game you'd know the setting)
The game takes place in the new country Illyria where Ky Kiske resides as KING (meaning it's gonna look medevil because it's a KINGDOM)Note: It does not take place in America where you see most of the modern technology in the X series resides.
The place you call the "Underworld" is called the "Backyard" which is a place that certain people on GG have gained access to (wich is noted as "HELL" on the X series)
That doesn't mean...ugh, forget it! I doubt that the entire post-apocalyptic world they lived in could have been so fixed up in just five years. Does that mean that the real-life United Kingdom is SUPPOSED to be medieval? It's a kingdom, so it HAS to be, right!? The Kingdom of Spain HAS to be medieval, right? No. Kingdom's can be modern and not medieval. Think for a second.

One last thing: it is not me that proclame GG overture the real sequel for the franchise: if you go in the japanese site home, the f?rst thing you can read after the short intro is :PS1"?????????????????????????"
" after 9 years from the PS1 Guilty gear...?the long awaited from fans new chapter (of GG)"
I know they SAY that, but to me, it just feels like a spinoff.
Here is my honest opinion of the game.
Ishiwatari, your Overture game is not BAD, per se, but it's by no means a Guilty Gear game that is deserving of being the "true sequel", as this world is such a radical 180 from the games in the past. It is not the "true sequel" that you claim it is. I am sorry to say this, but everything feels so completely different that this instead needs to be either one of two things:
A) Turn the Overture series into it's own franchise.
Call it a different name, with the supposed GG III being titled "Overture 2" without the "Guilty Gear". Focus on a different character, make a new person up, build a different story around it. After all, since the Post-War Administration Bureau is hardly ever talked about, it's almost as if no Great War has gone on. Just make something up, and make Overture a wholly different game series.
B) Turn Overture into a spin-off franchise.
Make some kind of explanation up for why Sol and Ky are in such radically different realms such as this kingdom. Turn this whole "Illyria" place into an alternate universe. Maybe while I-No was causing problems, these two got sucked into a parallel dimension, where they've been stuck for some odd years. You can make a few games about them trying to escape from this world, but also save it. At the end of it (perhaps Overture 3, or whenever), you can end the spin-off series with Sol and Ky finding their way back to the world that was their home.
Bottom line, Overture is not a bad game. It's just not a Guilty Gear game, no matter what any of you say. I personally find Ishiwatari to be lying and must be high as a kite to expect me to believe that Overture is a "true" continuation of the franchise. Now, if we can now get back on topic, I believe we were talking about the BB sequel.

NOTE: GG vs BB.......I don't know about that.....The current GG characters (or at least Sol and Ky) are too overpowered for any BB char with the exception of Rachele and Terumi.....srry not anytime soon.
...You're trying to bring logistics of who is most powerful storyline-wise? That's kind of sad. Sol and Ky can easily be "dumbed down". What you described is just silly. By that logic, Rachel should be super-high tier and unbeatable, with Nu close behind. By that logic, Bang should be in the lowest of the low, as he is far too silly to be taken seriously or to win in a match, as he is too "Satan/Hercule" like.
