But then again, I can see how someone might see the $100 60-foot long ones in stores and be misled. And no reason to complain about freebies.

Late response on my part, didn't feel like dealing with the Aksys forum for a few days.
Quig said:Well, its obvious you did not install the other operating system on your PS3 or you would have had to of bought an HDMI cable. Personally, I think that the HDMI cable is a must because it lets you utilize the HD graphics in most games. Now, as for your claim about not bad mouthing the Aksys version, I don't know about that. I was seriously interested in importing the UK version last December. I did a lot of research on the game and almost 95% of the reviews I read had huge complaints about the translations from the 4th Generation on, and some minor errors in the generations prior.
I have a gripe about the game but it is not with the translations, although some of the words they did use I have to look up because I have never seen or heard them before. My gripe is with some of the large monsters, why did they go away from the nice hand drawn sprites for the big monsters? I think they should have stuck with one type of format and not strayed from it. The 3D monsters look out of place, and they really haven't given me anything fancy when I overkill them.
Yeah, I stuck with the regular operating system. Not that it's an issue anymore; to go online you now have to stick with the main OS and and lose the option to change it. I still don't know why Sony felt like they needed to do that. Security? Either way it's not a big deal to me since I have no reason to change the OS. As for criticism toward Aksys, sure there will be some here and there but being that this is a message board run by and devoted to them, it's to be expected that most people will be big supporters.

Well, I'mma let you finish, and we'll see if you don't come back here apologizing to Aksys and the rest of us.You'd better come back. If you just disappear off this forum, then we'll all know what happened. At least have the courage to own up to your stupidity.
I really doubt I'll be apologizing about Aksys version, because I'm still more forgiving toward bad but well-intentioned script translation than I am with a company blatantly showing heavy favor for one userbase and disfavor for the other. Free DLC doesn't fix it or cover it up. No matter what excuse they give, there's undoubtedly some way they could have properly accommodated PS3 owners. I can think of a few already that don't require the game to be on a disc, though it not being on a disc is still bad (and as others have agreed with me on other sites, makes the EU version more worthy of purchase).
In sum, just because you're able to call something stupid doesn't make it so. Name-calling is a pretty easy way to vent frustration when you have nothing logical to say that can bring a desired result to a topic you have strong emotional investment in.

I'm still stuck on the fact that a game of this graphic quality is what drove him buy an HDMI cable for his PS3. There are much more deserving games and this was only due to the fact that he had no choice in the matter. You gotta be some sort of idiot to not already use HDMI or at least S-Video/Component on a TV that supports it because the games are just plan ugly otherwise.Time to pull back on the rage you've got going here! Okay. My priority in playing video games on a video game system is never "how pretty are the graphics." My priority is "how good is this game, what's the story," et cetera. If Agarest didn't require me to use an HDMI cable, I'd be playing the game without it. However, because it DID require me to get one, and now that I'm using it, the graphics are truly amazing and I'm happy with my purchase of the HDMI cable. I grew up with Atari and played video games up to the present day. Poor graphical quality is only an issue if the graphics downright suck, and the existence or lack of an HDMI cable involved has no influence on that.
Added note. I've been playing Red Faction: Guerrilla first and doing other things (work, writing, etc) when not playing that. It's an update for people who are impatient about seeing that I'll feel the same way about the situation regardless of what I experience with the game.

Neat, I haven't had any involvement in the military but hopefully that's a good association. Adding you now since you seem like a good guy regardless of anything we talk about here relating to Aksys.

When you look at the profiles, they have an option to hear the voices of the characters. Is this unlocked once you beat the game or is there a certain title that you have to earn to unlock it?

So! Hello everyone. Hollow_Ninja made a big deal about how I better come back here. Well, here I am. Refresher, I'm the guy who imported the European copy of Agarest on PS3 because of how Aksys chose do treat it.
I just started on it last week. I think Friday or Saturday. I'm only up to the middle of Third Generation. Supposedly, the worst of it comes during the Fourth Generation (also called the "Force" Generation, or so I hear), so we'll see if it actually starts to get bad at all when we reach that point.
First off, the DLC for the European version got released a couple weeks back. It was pretty neat timing to check the EU PSN Store just in case it was there. All of the DLC that actually matters is free, and the exact same can be said of Aksys version; because the DLC is the exact same between the two of them. There was also some sort of update in general when I booted up the disc, before I downloaded any DLC. I have absolutely no idea what that update did for my game. Maybe it put in a better translation or fixed potential game crash bugs, I don't know.
Now onto the game itself. None of the text has been horrible. There are grammar and spelling errors, but they're extremely minor. You can very easily understand what the characters are saying. Again, I haven't reached the Fourth Generation yet, so we'll just have to see how it goes when I get there. There's also a couple very minor strange issues I've encountered. The first is that sometimes the music will stop for a second if you make the text come up faster. The second, sometimes the Max Combo and Max Damage from the Adventurer's Guild will stay on every screen but behind anything more important (behind text boxes, menu tabs, etc). If it really bothers you at all, all you have to do is save the game then load it and that will be gone.
The only REAL thing about this version that disappoints me so far is that it lacks a lot of the CGs that Aksys' version apparently has. This becomes a non-issue because nice as it may be to see it from the game's menus itself, if I'm dying to see the CGs I'm missing, I can see them from websites on the internet. That's not a hypothetical either. In looking for help to get certain things done in the game (e.g. titles), I found a website that has all of them.
In conclusion, so far I have nothing to "apologize" for as Hollow_Ninja suggested I would.
