Yakuza 3 was just announced for US and Europe and will only be in Japanese, with English subtitles. No dubs. So, the reason of why the PS3 version of Agarest War is PSN-only is still a mystery.
I for one see this news as good sign that there is still hope of a Blu-ray version somewhere in the future.

Wow, I can't believe there are still people who think there might be a disc version. Aksys has already said that they have no control over the PS3 version being disc or download. They said it months ago in podcast #20 at about 4:30. If you really want to complain to someone, complain to Sony.

If complaining is hoping then yes i am. I dont live in the US or Europe so theres alot against me like no PSN cards and slow internet. If it were disk version it'll be easier to import. I know i can get the EU version but why should i settle for less?
And why do you feel so hostile? Are that you much offended by my post?

Not your post in particular. There have been many people claiming Aksys made the PS3 version download-only on purpose just to be mean to PS3 owners (which doesn't make any sense at all). If you were truly just hoping and not complaining, then I apologize for any hostility. Unfortunately, the PS3 version will be download-only...unless you can convince Sony to let them release a retail version.

If you're talking about Agarest War, then no, that's a false hope. Aksys has very firmly stated that the PS3 version will be download-only. Whether it's due to SCEA rules or not is still up in the air, but the end result is the same.

That sounds like a lawsuit in the making. I don't think Sony would do that.
And no, for the fanboys out there, the Agarest War situation is not a "lawsuit in the making". :P It's merely a "flame war in the making".

Actually, I think it's due to cost of blu-ray vs DVD. Since blu-rays are still quite expensive, they figured it would be easier on their manufacturing costs, to make it downloadable only (on the PS3 anyway).
It would explain why they are still considering making a collector's edition for the PS3 w/o disc as well since pressing BD for such a small allotment would be fairly expensive & not worth it in the long run.

I don't know, I'd think a body pillow would trump a bluray disk as far as cost is concerned. :P I really don't think cost is the concern here. If tiny companies like JAST USA can sell games on DVD that barely sell in the single digit thousands, then a company like Aksys with sales 10 or 20-fold times that can handle the blu-ray costs.

If it does get a physical release, it's probably just because it's a Sega title. Let's not kid ourselves. Sega is a bigger and more important publisher than Aksys will ever be. Sony is probably willing to bend the rules for them. They would have more to lose from Sega not publishing a game because of voice requirements than if Aksys decided not to publish a game for PS3 or PSP.

Sorry, I refuse to 'shake my rump' while Sega gets preferential treatment over smaller publishers... Funny how Siliconera even mentions Agarest and Battle Fantasia... To quote the great R. Lee Ermey on how something like this feels, "I bet you're the kind of guy that would f**k a person in the a** and not even have the godd**n common courtesy to give him a reach-around."

Arksys just needs to say why they are doing their games as DL only for the PS3... if it's a cost thing then be up front about it but to hide behind Sony US wont allow a sub only game to be released on disc looks to be false... or their policy has changed. Ask them again for approval for a disc release since it looks like Yakuza 3 is getting the go ahead to be released as sub only. And if Sony US says no, post their reply so Arksys doesnt have to take any blame.

History would suggest that openly telling people that scea is being a pain in the rear is a bad move. Victor Ireland did it at working designs back in the day and it was widely thought that it contributed to the eventual close of the company. SCEA doesn't like to have their dirty laundry aired publicly.
