They already are when they implied it was outside their control...

If Sony US wont allow it be then post the proof... cause right now Sony EU/UK is letting companies release games that does not contain a dub outside of the original language. And Sony US looks to be letting Yakuza 3 out on disc without a dub.

If they feel that it is outside their scope to press X number of BD copies cause they feel they cant sell that many... well say so.

I know Arksys isnt big but I have a hard time swallowing the line that Sony US is saying no to a disc release. So far 2 of the 3 games that are being released sub only are being released as DL only... both by Arksys.

Looks to me like it's a management decision to do it cause the numbers dont make sense...

So Bettie, you can keep on waiting for an explanation or you can be happy with what we get; that is, Aksys working hard to give us improved versions of games we would not otherwise see here in the States...

SCEE has ALWAYS had a more lenient approval process though. Look at all the shovelware that they let be released on the PS2. There's no way SCEA would approve of all those ripoff games that Phoenix Games releases. There have been plenty of times where SCEE would let a publisher release a game in Europe that SCEA wouldn't approve for America.

Sony Computer Entertainment America deems that any disc PS3 game releases in the U.S. that has voice acting must at least contain English voice acting. Aksys Games probably can't afford to dub Record of Agarest War in English, but a game can be released on Playstation Network with Japanese-only voice acting so that's where there putting it.

About the Yakuza thing... voice acting is not Sony's only criteria. There's also the fact that Agarest is text-based, as well as 2D.

Yep. That's what I thought.

This, and the fact that Sony in general has a tendency to be more restrictive in terms of approving titles released on their systems (most likely not just SCEA), could explain why we see developers making more console-based shmups and JRPGs for the 360, despite the fact that the PS3 has a larger Japanese audience.
