Hmm... was looking to buy the Project Diva 2 Dreamer Theatre 2 from the Japanese PSN, but it seems like I need to get the PSP game version of Project Diva 2.
Yeah the game is pretty much an add-on to the PSP game. It requires a handshake in order to do anything in the PS3 game. Basically, the game will detect your save data of the PSP version. You actually don't need the game at all. Just the save data.
Dreamy Theater 2 has the big advantage over part 1 in that you only need to do the handshake once. You don't ever have to connect the games again after the first time. Part 1 required you do it. Ever. Single. Time!
Theater 2 ALSO has the advantage that you get almost all the songs from part 1 as well. So it's basically like buying Project Diva 1 and 2 on the PS3. Which also explains the high price.
I hear however you can't cheat the game. If you download a save file of Project Diva 2 you have to boot up Project Diva 2 and save in the game in order for Dreamy Theater 2 to recognize the save file. At least that's what I hear. I own the game so I wouldn't know. If I delete my save files, and find my copy of Project Diva 2 I can probably run an experiment.
