This is to Belisarius or other Aksys employees.
I currently work for a non-game-related software and services company that builds localization into its development procedures. We have large-scale efforts in place to ensure the product is available in all supported languages at, or near, launch time. For the project I'm currently a part of, I end up doing functional verification of Japanese program flow due to my Japanese language background.
I'd be interested - assuming anything can be said, legally - on what exactly entails a localization for a niche US publisher like Aksys. It sounds like the game is created and released in Japan prior to any localization efforts taking place. Do you guys have to muck around in the program code or do you basically tell ArcSys (or other developers, depending on the game) what to place in particular areas of the program?
Obviously a game like Guilty Gear AC+ versus something like Agarest Senki would be a different order of magnitude worth of effort.
