A sequel to Record of Agarest War is in development. No, we’re not talking about Record of Agarest War Zero, that’s a prequel.

One of the products on Compile Heart’s GDC list, perhaps to be licensed for the West, is a follow up to Record of Agarest War called Agarest Senki 2. The game is currently in development for PlayStation 3.

No concrete details (sorry!) since the news comes from a product list. Agarest appears to be a key franchise for Compile Heart and if Record of Agarest War does well next month there’s a chance we’ll see Record of Agarest War 2 in English.

I'd like to see another developer's games brought over. Compile Heart is really hit-or-miss, and for me, they're a miss.

I'll be honest. They're not the best game developer I've ever seen, and I'm not expecting a game of the year out of them. That being said, they seem to make a game that pulls you in enough to keep playing for long hours. That gets a big vote in my mind. I'm looking forward to Agarest coming out.

So in this sequel do we get to play as the gret great great grand son/daughter of the protagonist from the first Record of Agarest War game? :D

I know its to early to tell but I'd like to know if Record of Agarest War 2 will make its way to the 360 because their will be no point of me buying the first one on the 360 if the second one ends up being a PS3 only title.

Because your logic fails or you don't have a PS3. Either way, you need to be shot in the face. Redeem yourself and go buy a PS3. If you have a PS3, then explain the logic of your post.

dude I have a PS3 Its just that i don't wanna have to buy the next game on the PS3 after I buy the first one on the 360. If the next game is PS3 only I might as well just get this game on the PS3. Also I wanna play the series on the 360 cause my friendsare buying it on the 360.

Explain why you'd need to play the two games on the same console. Then explain why Aksys would even comment on licensing potential for a game that's not even released in Japan yet (especially when Aksys hasn't even released the first game in the series yet). Then explain how ANYONE would provide constructive commentary on a game's multiplatforming potential at this point in its development cycle, much less which platforms Aksys would *potentially* release the localized game on.

If you're going to ask a rhetorical question, you should just say so in the first place. :P

I am actually excited that Idea Factory is developing a sequel to Agarest. Honestly, Agarest may not be a good SRPG imo, but it is the most unique. I thoroughly enjoy the dating sim elements and generation system and hope that the Agarest franchise will continue its tradition. What will be important is knowing how well Record of Agarest War will sell in the US. That will show us whether gamers are into the whole niche dating sim or not. I will continue to support Aksys in hope that Agarest becomes successful enough to warrant Zero and its future sequel to be published in the US.

I can't really speak for Kaim, but as for wanting to have the sequel on the same platform there are valid reasons. For one, sometimes a developer will have a game check the system for save files for previous games, and adding bonuses if found. Or it could be just for collections sake; preferring to have a series of games match up on a single platform.

Personally, I'm still picking up Agarest War Really Naughty Edition on the 360. I'm hoping there will be enough support for both platforms so that the developers can continue to work with the series.

Thanks for helping me clear up my reasons. Its a mix of features and collecting.I just find it easy to buy a game series on just one console sometimes, I gets on my nerves when a game jumps from console to console.

Your answer is enough for me: the statement was not a question. Carry on. But here's how I read it: "I want to know if Aksys will localize the 360 or PS3 version of the second game, because if they don't localize the second game for MY preferred console there's no point in me buying either game."

I think before asking Aksys you need to make sure Compile Hearts develops it for both consoles. Aksys has no control over that. They did pick up the 360 version of Agarest when they learned about it (people were even complaining about the delay), so I doubt they would intentionally NOT localize one console if this future project ends up being made for two. Everything is speculation until Compile Hearts decides what they want to do.

Can I not elicit even a sarcastic quip?

Both the record against Agarest and it is prequel was awesome. The sequel has now high expectations to live up to. The first trailer of this sequel was out last June. It looks tempting enough. They are building it in PS 3 right? At least the compile heart came up with the trailer in time; even I am not a big fan of compile heart. Let us just hope that they will nail it this time.
