Different games, different sizes. I play all my games somewhat regularly. I still put Oblivion and Fallout 3 in from time to time and they've been out a long time. I have a 1-year old in the house so I'm not able to play games for much more than an hour at a time. If I have to spend a quarter of that each time un-installing/re-installing game files ... just not worth it for me.

In response to your comment about piracy ... last I knew no PS3 game has been pirated? I thought the system was still un-crackable. Someone got part of the way there, but not all the way, not far enough to copy games. If anything, the 'game sharing' with sharing accounts would argue against a PSN download in terms of piracy.

I have nothing against people buying this game and enjoying it, just for me the total cost (both in money and other factors) is more than I'm personaly willing to pay for it.

Aksys doesnt release ps3 games only, there is piracy in psp, DS, even xbox, wii, so if they lose there at least i hope i can help them here, so they can keep releasing games for those consoles (specially psp :P) even if they are being destroyed by piracy D:, also, i cant imagine those games taking 35 gigs, not even dragon age gets past 6 gigs in install, but well, is your money, but really, dont let money get in the way of the things you want to do, if you do want agarest =P, im gonna be hella happy when i finally get this game -.-

Honestly, though, it should've been much shorter. The game tends to drag here and there.

I'd really prefer to have a Collector's Edition for the PS3. I don't have the space nor the money to invest in a 360.

I just bought the 360 version today. Debating on trading in just the game ($20 trade-in credit at Gamestop),keeping the extra goodies, and using the trade in credit towards a PSN card and downloading the PS3 version. Don't know it that's worth it or not.

I'm going to see if I can find a friend to go halfsies with me and just game share it, that way I can support Aksys and not spend so much money at the same time. I have to agree that $45 is a little steep considering that it's just a digital download.

Has Aksys given a concrete reason as to why the game costs so much?

I don't think it's worth it. That's spending $85 ($60 - 20 of what you're going to get back, and then $45 for the PSN release) just for the extras. If you haven't opened it, I would say to just return it, buy the PSN version, and wait for someone to sell the limited edition contents on Ebay. I'm sure they'll be up within the next week or so.

Hmm, I haven't opened it yet. The box is so tantalizing though. Is the PSN download really gonna be $45?!. Maybe I will do that, Ray. Just keep everything and buy the PSN version anyway. I do have an unhealthy habit of collecting JRPGs, hahaha. But you also bring up a valid point, retroflow. Gah, I can't decide.

You could sell the PS3 and use that money to buy an Xbox 360 system and The Really Naughty Limited Edition with the proceeds. ;)

I hate this being my first post but w/e. Just to note, people should get off their horse and realize that this isn't even the Japanese PS3 Version. This is the Xbox 360 version released on both PS3 and 360 here in West with the added content. I'd rather a copy that loads pretty well off the HDD for $45 and free DLC than buying a physical copy for more along with paid DLC.

I'm clearly happy with the decision to grab it at the lower price and I can grab the soundtrack through other means and the mousepad is not that important when I don't even use one. Besides, this game was even cheaper than what NIS debuted Cross Edge for $50 new. >.> Besides, added bonus, no sales tax.

Well, keep in mind that not all DLC for the PS3 will be free, and the 'free' DLC dungeons are included on the disc for 360 (making me wonder why it is DLC in the first place on the PS3).

Also, not everyone gets to buy off the PSN tax free. Depends on the state, for me I have to pay tax which adds 6.25% I wouldn't have to pay on a retail release (I live 10 miles from a sales tax free state). So with tax I'd be paying about the same price 360 owners will be paying for the game once the regular edition releases (not the NLE).

People buying the 360 version will have tax on their purchase also. And I do believe that the LE is selling for the standard game price so I don't see it lowering any, at least until it discounts way down the line. It's just that the LE is the initial printing run.

Well, like I said, I'm next to a tax free state so if I owned a 360 I would not have to pay sales tax. You can also buy online and avoid it if the store owns no stores in your state. For example I can buy stuff off Amazon tax free.

Speaking of which, does Aksys plan on selling a download code on Amazon? I've done that with other PS3 games to avoid the sales tax but not all of them show up on Amazon.

Haha, okay this belief that a game suddenly becomes digital makes it inferior in some way is something I don't quite get.
You're paying for the content, right? Trades, cases and all that put aside, I always believed "value" was placed on the game itself. It's just funny that people don't mind paying that amount or more on a -your mother is a classy lady- "next-gen" game or to watch several Will Ferrel movies and that makes it cool with them. Yet, once it goes digital it's got to slash 20% and become an after thought before it's accepted as an actual game.

I'm not raging here, most of the posters brought up very valid points with storage space, d/l speeds and stuff that an informed consumer should consider. What can I say, the digital gaming age is still ironing out the wrinkles. It's just crazy to me people coming hard on digital distribution maybe because I pay $45 to near $60 on download games. Not all the time, I do the math too, but it's something I put value in as with any another format.

Hell, NES games sold for $45+ dollars back in the day. Would you kick yourself about prince points then, too?

Well, it's mainly the lack of an ability to resell. When I digitally download something, I lose the right to sell it away if I don't like it, and I don't have as much control over it (limited re-downloads, can't loan out to friends, etc.). So there are a lot of downsides to DD, and that's why I don't dabble in it often. Mainly I use PSN to DL free stuff and PS1 games.
