Hi, I went to my Gamestop and ask for the Record of Agarest War because I didn't find it on display. One of the employee said I should've pre-ordered it because they're gonna pull the game off the shelf. Then his co-worker said something about the game box being too controversial for consumers to handle. They still have some in stock so I purchased two in case they really are not selling the game. Is this true? Did anyone else hear anything like this? Will the staff at Aksys please tell me this isn't true?
My Gamestop said they're gonna pull off Agarest?!

I have heard other people say they had to have their pre-ordered boxes brought out from a non-visible location. I'm not sure how gamers can find out about a game that's being hidden...
Can I not elicit even a sarcastic quip?Posted 1 year ago # -
Worse things have been put on shelves, I doubt that that is true.

It is kinda funny. I see Nier and SSFIV up on shelves but I didn't see Agarest and when I ask for it, they had to go to the back room to bring one up. If this keeps up, Agarest could be like the most rarest game ever.

I'm guessing the problem is the NLE cover art. The situation may change when the regular edition goes on sale. I wonder if not offering both editions from the start might've been a miscalculation on Aksys's part.
Remember, most people go about life relying on superficial characteristics to make split second evaluations in 99% of situations they encounter. In a store, 2 things catch people's eye: the title, and the box art. They will immediately form a judgement at that point. If it's not a game they're specifically interested in playing, that's all they'll look at. That, however, could very well be enough to piss someone off that is easily offended by such things. At that point, it doesn't even matter what the game inside the box is actually like at all--because said people will likely never actually play the game or even investigate the game further. They'll just get mad. From a retailer's point of view, angry customers are bad for business overall, even though said customers would've never bought the game anyway.

But all Aksysgames are rare guys, the only Aksysgames I can find in big store like Best Buy or FutureShop is BlazBlue: CT, GGAC+ or Overture 2 try to find that on these store ... impossible, back in the days of course not now
But I think Aksys knew this was going to happen
It's a game made for a certain small community, so the sales might be smallBut yes
In canada (Quebec), my Gamestop didn't display any Agarest War box
Cuz it's was too suggestive, too much sexual content
The two employees said that I was a perv but I didn't careI'm glad that I pre-ordered it
It's my most precious game to datePosted 1 year ago # -
That is lame. I ordered mine through Amazon so it won't be here till next week, but I feel bad for you guys who have to feel like perverts just to buy a game. It's not like they are selling Bible Black or tenancle porn.

I work at Gamestop, have been for far too long haha. I'm not sure why we were requested to take it off the shelves. Our store e-mail that we receive everyday just said to keep it behind the counter, but gave no legitimate reason why. However, we are most definitely selling the game regularly. Just got my copy today. Our store never displays collector's editions of games on the shelves anyway, they don't freaking fit on the shelf right.

They decided to pull the game off the shelves due to the steamy box art. They're just not displaying the game, that's all. Has nothing to do with being able to sell the game.

Yeah, the guys who are so loose with openly discussing 4chan at the GameStop where I shop at have all of their store's copies hidden behind the counter out of fear of what some of the customers might think of the packaging. Something about that just doesn't make much sense to me. 4chan'ers Who openly discuss boobs afraid of customers seeing ecchi content, hmmm.

There is still a way for people to know this game is for sale. If they simply print out the cover art and put it on a case then put that case on the shelves. Another thing would be take out the case from the LE box and place on the shelves.

The Gamestop here had it displayed prominently right behind the counter.

Pretty interesting since, from what I know, the pics shown is as naughty as the game gets, heh. This actually reminds me of those "risque" record albums, VHS tapes and even Atari games that had to be packaged in brown paper bags and placed behind the counters because the content was so "wicked"!
Seems silly, but any publicity is good publicity, right?
http://kotaku.com/5526776/really-naughty-record-of-agarest-war-too-hot-for-gamestopGameStop should at least have a sign that says "ask us about naughty edition!" or something, though.

If Gamestop was smart, they would place their price stickers on the plastic, over the parts that they think is "unsuitable" for their customers.
