I realize that this may not be the right place to ask, but since the ASW website doesn't have a forum...
After playing Guilty Gear for a couple of years and just recently getting into BlazBlue, I realized that Arc System Works has an amazing talent for creating a hardcore fighting game that "works" while featuring characters that are pretty out there in terms of their fighting style.
One Piece is a pirate manga that had a lackluster performance in NA because of its horrible TV localization but that is extremely popular in Japan not only due to its epic story, setting and memorable characters, but also its ability to attract and retain readers of all sexes and ages. It has recently become the highest selling manga in Japan, surpassing even the mighty Dragon Ball series. There's no question that an arcade fighter based on the series would sell very well.
The series features a bunch of characters that fight with weird powers (for example, the main protagonist has the properties of rubber). I'm sure that if there's one developer that could do the series justice with a proper fighting game that people will actually keep playing years after release, it's ASW.
Namco Bandai currently has the license and have already made a few underwhelming attempts at a fighter with it. However, I noticed that ASW had partnered with Bandai in the past for Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors on the Game Boy Advance.
Would a game like this be a possibility?
