Seriously people. Just get over it and get better. Saying its "impossible" and then watching others do what you said is impossible just becomes an excuse.

I'm not saying any of you guys are horrible players, far from it.

But its pains me as a fellow gamer of these types of games (and all games at that matter) to hear complaints and not bother to improve your own skills and just blame the game itself for not beating it the way you want it.

All of those examples has nothing to do with the mechanics of the games, but the players own abilities. This is not what is being discussed.

CHEATERS.

Yes I know thats harsh but thats what I am reading from users who is against the fixes.

People are complaining over a GLITCH that the developer NEVER INTENDED.

Its an embarrassment to the developer when particularly hard areas of a game becomes easy suddenly due to poor coding. They aren't proud of it and the players can just say "If its in the game...I will use it."

So the Japanese Players got off easy because of a unintended glitch and you want that same glitch in the game. Am I wrong with that statement sh00g?

It's not a glitch. The slowdown was due to limitations of the arcade hardware. This is a normal and common part of ALL Cave shooters and has not been screwed with until this point.

I will qoute and highlight key parts to showcase why its a glitch:

"Cave wanted to fix some unintended slowdown in the original, which compromised the level of difficulty in those sections. They upgraded the production environment of the graphics engine, so the U.S. version handles the graphic assets better. They're now working as originally intended, so things will be more difficult."

I am not sure what your definition of what a glitch is njiska but I am more then happy to hear your version of what a glitch is.

Perhaps the issue is with interpretation of that statement. A glitch is generally defined as a defect or malfunction. Just because the slowdown was unintentional does not mean that it was due to defective code, merely that the performance did not match the original design spec. By their admission this was due to the inability to an efficient enough graphics engine, not because they screwed up coding the engine and it underperformed. Let's draw a comparison to a car engine. Lets say you start off with a design spec of 350 HP output. Given the parts you have available the best you can do is 300 HP. It's off spec, but it's not defective. Now if the engine proceeded knock and only output 250 HP then it would be defective. However if that was the case with Deathsmiles than Cave should have corrected it with either a 1.5 version or at the very least with the Xbox 360 mode on the JP release.

Instead we have four versions of the game released that perform exactly the same (DS and DS MBL in arcades and DS and DS Platinum on X360) and one version, our version that is completely different.

Ultimately it still comes down to one simple fact. The original Deathsmiles had a lot more slowdown than it needed, but the US version just isn't any fun on Ranks 3 and 999.

Honestly the best solution would have been to just include a Wait On/Off option in the first place.

So officially, is it the case that the US version is faster than all Japanese versions? It sounds like if this was to correct a glitch, the US version might run at arcade speed, while the Japanese home version is slower?

Also RedEagleEX doesn't seem to get it... who's the cheater? English players can't compete with Japanese players because we're handicapped now. If it's at all possible, they should keep it consistent across borders so that comparing score, a huge part of games like this, can actually be done in the first place. If it'd take an engine rewrite that can't be patched in (well, that's impossible technically, but could be cumbersome to patch) then they should put out another special edition in Japan. It sure wouldn't be the first time a game has been back-ported to Japan (Mario 2, Jet Set Radio...) Another option, though they'd probably hate making it on a personal level, would be to simply examine the Japanese version and add an option to throttle the game to keep it consistent over here as an option. You'd just have to delay a few frames according to a fixed script, and put a little stamp on your high score to indicate it.

Actually the Japanese version is nearly 100% accurate to the original Arcade PCB. That's part of the reason why we were so shocked these changes were made to Arcade mode.
