hmm i was requested to write some stuff here so here goes:
is cave destined for world domination! can i niche game company survive, with these latest vids i would say... yes, with the success of deathsmiles in the states (initial reports look like sales here stateside will surpass those in japan) and caves new westward focus (iphone game's, xbla releases etc...) it looks good that Cave may well surpass Treasure as the Wests most beloved niche action game developer!
anyhoo here's my analysis of the vids:
the vid shows off what looks to be a take on gradius or r-type option/bit control, i'm not 100% sure how they are controlled but they look like the player can directly control them somehow. There is also some sort of reflection technique seen in some of the vids, and the bits can collect the purple orbs. What they do with said orbs i can't figure on 1st watch.
i think there were at least two ships shown in the vids as well. what looks like a bomb attack shoots out a concentrated beam instead of screen-destroyer...
all in all akai looks to have several systems in play, and it also features some amazing boss rounds, one guy is summoning battleships (reminds me of silhoutte mirage for some reason!)...
needless to say, aksys bring this over NAO!
