Meiko was one of the first class of Vocaloids, from before the release of Hatsune Miku (teal) and the resulting burst of popularity. She tends to be ignored by the fanbase.

Nope, there is no limited-edition in the US. So you can buy a standard copy and rest easy.

Yeah, that's a Petit Nendoroid, like the Noel. I think it's from the second Lucky Star set?

But there are two kinds of Nendoroids - normal Nendos, and Petit Nendos. The Petit ones are about two-thirds the size of the normal ones, and are usually sold in three-packs or as trading figures (like this set).

The full-size Nendoroids are bigger, and come with a bunch of alternate parts, like swappable faces and limbs, but they're a lot more expensive (about $30 a pop).

So yeah. The more you know, I suppose?

Petit Nendoroids aren't usually as expensive as the Noels were. In Japan, the individual blind-boxed ones sell for 500 yen a pop, meaning that it's pretty easy to get 'em in the US for $5-$10 each.

That's why they build up instead of out, and everyone owns a handheld gaming system or smart phone. Small is in.

'Cause they use up a lot more plastic. On a normal Nendoroid, the head alone has more mass than a Petit Nendoroid. Add to that the body (about the same amount of plastic of a Petit), two or three extra faces (the face-piece forms about half the mass of a Nendo's face), and some random extra parts (things like the table, cheese, and alternate arms in the example picture), and they usually use up about 4-5 times the plastic of a Petit Nendoroid. Science!

Update on the custom-Makoto: The base arrived today. It turns out she'll work a lot better than anticipated.

I didn't notice until she arrived that her ;3 face is very Makoto-ish, and while it doesn't show clearly in photos, her hair color is pretty much perfect (so it may look fine even without repainting). However, I'll probably end up repainting her hair anyway, because I'm gonna have to sculpt on the third portion of her bangs.
