BlazBlue:CS online play is insanely difficult

Hi,

Yesterday I bought BB:CS for the PS3 and man this game is tough nuts! I have played Street Fighter IV many times and on average I win 40% of the matches online (yeah, I'm not a good player on SFIV either but I win 40% of matches). On BB:CS, I win 0% of matches online. I have played 20 matches and I think I won 1 round out of the 20 (waiting for everyone to laugh lol!).

I never thought it would be this difficult online. I can finish arcade mode on Normal difficulty with Jin, if that means anything. However, those 20 hit combos that people pull off with juggling and canceling are practically impossible for me. So I try to block and look for an opening. I'm always on the defensive online and I can only play well with Ragna. If I open up and attack I get owned.

One TOUGH game.

It is a GOOD game, the single player has a great deal of value, but the online multiplayer is an exercise in masochism. Moves happen way too fast and everyone plays like a champion.

It seems that at least for the ps3 version, all the average and mediocre players either stopped playing online or became superstars.

Everyone plays like the CPU on HELLx2 difficulty.

Do you guys use joysticks to pull off combos or do u use the regular ps3/xbox360 controllers?

Has anyone finished the "SCORE ATTACK" single player mode (another crazy mode)?

Well all I can say it practice some more. >_> But just to ask did you play BB:CT?? Many of the people who play BBCS are most likey players who have played BBCT so many of the players are probably well rounded to the game already. Also I recommend going to play on the player matches, I see many average players on there when I play just make sure you pick the right rooms. I recommend trying to finish the challenge modes if you can teaches you some good ragna combos or combos for any other characters. I play with ps3 controller very ez to pull off moves, but I've been playing ever since CT came out. No wrries about the losses I'll lost many many matches when I first started playing Blazblue.

I use the fightstick for Super Street Fighter IV, and the controller for Blazblue. And yeah I have beaten score attack with Jin and Noel.

Yeah the online matchmaking isn't good for beginners which kind of sucks because you don't know who your going to face and you can't back out if it's a guy that has played over 1000 matches.

It's nothing but Arakune, Ragna, Hazama, Tager, Litchi and Bangs online even at night. It be a miracle to see Tsubuki or even a Noel player

I wish it was like CT matchmaking where you get to choose your opponents so you could face the same level skill but unfortunately you can't.

It's kind of a good thing and a bad thing, good thing is that players can't boost but I really didn't mind that if it's just for trophies or achievements though boosting more then that is kind of sad I knew one person on the PS3 that boosted like no tomorrow on rank matches boosting and boosting getting to rank 125 with that character and that person wasn't very good when I faced him or her. Plus it could encourage you to get better at the game since your facing high level/no life players.

The bad thing about it that online will punish you if you decide to use a new character online since you might be facing a high level player and you have no choice to face him because you can't back out. Plus you really can't choose who to face, and they mostly give you players that have been playing this game and has 500 games played online. If they bring back the CT matchmaking I'm not sure if people will be happy or not, maybe half and half but I would making it coming back imo. Another thing is that it takes a while to find someone and sometimes it doesn't.

I play Noel as my mina on ps3. Beat score attack, but score attack is currently broken and will hopefully be fixed soon so we can upload scores again.

I've had 20 matches and was at a win rate of 88 with psr ranking of 48, but then some corner happy ragna took me down yesterday and I dropped to 80 percent. Man lost a few you have to win like 50 to get the few percentages back up.

But, I'm tired of playing seriously now. I'm working with Chaosenninja, falcon20001, godstatus1, and hopefully Daisul---... to polish up my noel. apparently I have potential, but in the meantime I lost out of little mistakes and it is tough online when ppl use characters they know they can take advantage of ppl with cheap tricks.

Hey, noelAtlasia, I run into noel players all the time. XD

I highly suggest you drop Ragna because so many people play as him online and you'll get tired of playing as him and against him. Also you just gotta practice and test out stuff in training mode. That's what I did in CT, I spent hours in training mode figuring out combos and moves that have advantage over others etc
Also like the others said, play low level player matches. Look for the beginner rooms.

Huh, funny, i have less trouble winning Ranked matches than Player matches, although it's true I tend to play with a lot more characters than my main in player matches.

And you know, Jin... Well ya, the Ice car thing is pretty cheap and is not gonna win you anything online, most people come from Calamity Trigger and have had an entire year to laugh at the people spamming that, learn some combos and zone in on people in an other way, spam doesn't win you anything in Blazblue.

Worst case scenario, pick an other character, i lost 15 games when i first started Calamity Trigger before i finally realized i sucked with that character and moved to an other one.

Really? Must be more Noel players on the PS3 since I'm mostly on my 360 since it's in my room, there's a 1/10 chance I will see a Noel player online. Even I main Noel myself I hardly see them. And I'm not really good with her, I'm focused more on Jin in CS but I haven't given up on Noel :) need to learn her silencer combos!

I switch around between my three mains, Jin, Noel and Ragna soon I will learn Tsubuki and Makoto.

Ok, well, I finally won an online match. I won a ranked match against someone playing Makoto and I was playing Ragna. My left thumb is sore from the dpad of the ps3. I can't play this game for long, I'll end up with no thumb lol! Do you guys use a thumb pad or something to keep the thumb in good shape?

It's funny... I've won several ranked matches, especially when playing against people using Makoto. I haven't bought her, but I think most of the people I have played against, just suck at using Makoto.

Also, I use the pad... I have a callus I didn't have anymore before I started playing fighting games with the damned PS controllers. But I just hate the stick for games like this. They delay me when dashing, or executing some sequences for special attacks.

Yeah. You'd think they were on beginner mode they way they string their combos.

Ranked matches are not very noob friendly, let me tell you. Back in CT I took maybe six tries before I finally won one.

In contrast I think I won my first ten SF4 matches...

SF4 is rather easy when compared to BB for me. The characters in the BB series that I play rely a lot on tricks and traps for pulling combos or special moves. Mu-12 is a prime example of that. SF4, on the other hand, is a rather straightforward game where most attacks do what they look like they should.

For me, characters like Lambda, Mu, Noel, Rachel, Hazama and Litchi, whose attacks have sometimes weird characteristics are much more fulfilling when learning.

I was utterly crushed by a Japanese guy who kept me in the air and strung a devastating 38 hit combo using Lambda a few days ago. My lower jaw almost fell to the floor in awe.

Sub: Noel, Mu-12, Tsubaki, Taokaka and Makoto (BBCS), Olivia and Odille (BF), Akane (AH3)

Unless he's a japanese person living in America, then it wasn;t a japanese person because we don't have the patch to play ppl from there yet.

You haven't seen anything until you play worldwide.

Actually, I thought we could play the Japanese once Makoto went live in Japan.

JasonPaul is correct. The NA and Japanese versions are patched up to the same version number. You can play against people from Japan now.

I remember playing quite a few Japanese players back on Continuum Shift on my 360. Mostly decent folk, and only a few of them really elite.

Granted I'm on the PS3 now which has a much higher concentration of Japanese, so yeah.

I confirmed that player was Japanese. Besides, people from over there are quite abundant in the PS3 version. And yes, some of them are true monsters when facing them. I was very, very impressed by the way he (or she? doubt it) moved with Lambda. I kept the replay and studied it a lot, which in the end helped me, since I copied some of his/her attacks and tactics.

When you create rooms, turn on the Beginner Icon, that lets people know you're still new to the game.
