MemberJust droppin' in to voice my support. :) I absolutely love Umineko, and I think a PS3 release would be a great opportunity to spread the love to this side of the sea, to those who haven't had the opportunity to play the original--and those who have and loved it so much they just have to do it again (like me!).
I've already pre-ordered a copy of the Japanese version, and I will absolutely, undoubtedly purchase it again if it gets localized. And I'll buy copies to give to my friends and family. :D

GameFaQs is alright but I would encourage people to stick with anime oriented sites, (Funimation boards, Anime News Network) etc.

I was going to PM (concerning another matter), but don't know how.
Anyway, I know a thing or two about the method of localization (don't ask), so I'd like to share my input on the matter.
Firstly, I'd much rather see Steins;Gate localized. However, it isn't a realistic desire; this doesn't have a pre-existing translation and has some questionable scenes, moreover it has absolutely zero exposure in the west, and JAST are covering Nitroplus material (or rather, trying to cover).
Umineko's lengthy and requires a detailed translation. Thankfully the upcoming PS3 version is only of the four chapters, which have already been translated by Witch-Hunt.
My suggestion is that Aksys could buy the rights to Witch-Hunt's script, as localization companies have purchased fan-translations in order to localize a game before.
Alchemist doesn't have a division in the states, but they would need to be contacted as well.
I believe ryukishi would give all rights to Alchemist in order for the PS3 port's existence. This means Alchemist may or may not add/remove material, and additionally, the PS3 port probably differs from the PC version--besides the obvious--to give people the incentive to purchase a title they've previously purchased before. This would apply to me too, as I've already purchased the games on their release.
Lastly, Umineko is popular enough to turn a profit and as it lacks erotic scenes, lacks gender-oriented direction (it's not eroge, or galge, just plain visual novel), and the gore is fairly tame, it would be successful, in my opinion.
