Why don't you just import and patch?

Well, A) Because I hate dealing with online retail. B) Because the patch probably isn't official. I'm not compromising my games just so I understand them. That's why I want to push this so hard.

Episode 2 wass okay/bad my first time playing, but with my second time playing it I really liked it. I do hate that it made drastic graphic changes, but it was still good and I learned to really love battles too even though I previously hated fighting completely.

Whenever I play Episode II, I can never bring myself to do the sidequests and post-endgame content. Mostly because it's vastly inferior to what was presented in the the other two localized games.

I just love Xeno *_*

That's certainly a commendable task. I admire your endurance. Perhaps I'll get to it some time, once I've played the trilogy enough times to recite the story from memory.

Are we talking about the ds game with I and II bundled or the ps2 games?
Since I own II and I know I and III weren't localised for PAL.

We're talking about the DS game. Sorry if that wasn't clear enough.
The PS2 is pretty much dead as it is, so I think getting I and III in Europe would be pretty impossible, unfortunately. The DS is still around though, that's the key difference.

Just import, it's your best option.
This makes me think about how badly Episode 3 was censored. Seriously, it was really bad. Some scenes didn't even make sense anymore without the blood. Even worse, I couldn't find any way to get a dubbed uncensored version, only undubs, so I ended up playing it censored (and yes, I legally bought and own it, and at no point did I consider pirating it).

If you want to see it uncensored, just go to gametrailers.com and look at my user movies, they're subbed so you should be good.

Well I think Namco's odd decision making is really to blame for the fall of the Xenosaga series, I mean Episodes I-VII where already written out and the team had a lot of ideas for gameplay and story to cover, but I don't know, they let go almost all the original team from 1 and seemed to try and re-do things to attract more "casual" sales but it ended up biting them in the ass.
You've really gotta pity the writers, first they have they have to rush Gears out and never get a chance to expand on that, so they try starting over with Saga only for that to end in failure as well

Actually, it was internal issues at Monolithsoft that resulted in Xenosaga failing. Namco Bandai supported the project all the way through (there are many reasons to hate Namco Bandai, but this isn't one of them).

I thought it was Bandai, all I can remember is that most of the original team from I was let go (including the writer I believe?) and that while they still followed the basic story that had been written out, a lot of things where changed.

It was all Monolithsoft's decisions. She was the only writer that didn't come back after Episode II. She was freelance the entire time and they just didn't rehire her. She and Takahashi gave Monolithsoft a full script for Episode II and the new team took it and butchered it. Takahashi had a bit more influence in Episode III, but Soraya Saga has said that the Episode III we got was pretty far from the Episode III they wanted to make.

Well III was still pretty good, but I would have loved to see what they had intended. One problem I did have with III was how it was like the story was on fast forward, never sticking to one plot point for to long before moving onto the next, I suppose that can be blamed on II doing so little to progress the story beyond Jr. and Albedos parts near the end.

Let me correct what you meant to say... It was that they didn't achieve what they wanted. It isn't that it was a failure. If it was there wouldn't be a big of a fan base and all of you wouldn't be asking for the ds game localization.
Sure they didn't get to do all they wanted, but they did an awesome job with what they were able to work with. Unfortunately the client is the one who decides how long and what is supposed to be in the production process. It's not all their fault that they didn't do everything. Sometimes it's time constraints, the publisher decisions, or the client who hired a studio that make the mess ups.
Granted I get the sentiments as I wanted the series to continue, but they did do a pretty good job with what they could. So, I do appreciate that... They didn't dumb it down to an extreme and it was one of the more brilliant RPGs out there compared to your regular old Rpgs that were lackluster in the brains department.
