Fate/EXTRA is an RPG written by Kinoko Nasu of Type-Moon fame, and indeed this does take place in the framilier world of Type-Moon, or the "Nasuverse" as fans call it, but their is a catch. This game takes place in an "Alternate Universe", a world that split off from the "Main" Nasuverse" in the year 1980.

The world is set in a school called Tsukumihara Academy, a fictional place existing with an artificial environment called the Moon Cell. There, the Moon Cell orchestrates a replication of the Holy Grail War using a system called Serial Phantasm or SE.RA.PH, which handles the summoning of Servants. Servant data is taken from the Automaton, a spiritual computer system built on the lunar surface by a pre-human civilization and discovered by humans in the year 2032. The Automaton has monitored and recorded all occurrences on the Earth (including the activities of human heroes) since time immemorial.

Each of the 128 participants in the war must duel the other Masters in a place called the Arena, where failure results in deletion from both the real and digital worlds. When only one remains, the "Holy Grail" shall grant the victor's wish.

Fate/EXTRA is rather similer to ATLUS' Persona series (more accurately, P3P and P4) in that it's an RPG that is divided into two halves, a "school life" section and a "Dungeon Crawling" section that you can choose to do at anytime. At the beginning you also have the option to choose your characters gender which will differate the two gender's stories in small ways, you can also choose which of 3 Servants you want to be your partner. Their Saber (considered "Easy Mode")

Archer ("Normal Mode")

And finally Caster ("Hard Mode")

Combat is divided into something like a Rock>Paper>Scicors Element but of course their's still plenty of elements of strategy in it since if you don't carefully plan out your moves you won't make it very far. Here's a few videos of the game in action http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDpzbzHabas

I believe that Askys should look into bringing this over because it's a nice and fun RPG for the PSP that has a very engaging storyline. The anime and manga adaptations of the Visual Novel have been brought over, along with the fighting game Fate/Unlimited Codes and have sold well so I believe there's definitely an interested fanbase here that would love to see this brought over.

As someone who is actually a pretty big fan of some of Type-Moon's properties, I really have no interest in playing what is essentially rock-paper-scissors over and over again with obvious Atlus influences all over the place, Lu Bu Berserker or no.

But hey, if it did come over, I wouldn't mind a company who knows what they're doing (read: Aksys) handling the translation.

I'm sort of surprised there'd be need for a second thread, instead of just using the old one, but anyway.

I for one would still very much like an English version of F/E, and would really like it if whoever brought it over could translate some of the side materials around for the new setting (such as the Fate/the Fact booklet, or the Fate/Extra guide book). Even if they were made as electronic releases, it would be better than nothing, though I personally would prefer printed versions.

Maybe even of this, too:

Oh, and I'd hope the Japanese voice track could be kept, too. I'd be a bit wary as to who might be selected to voice the new characters, and I'm not a major fan of the voices that some of the not-so-new people have (like Lancer, who doesn't sound very Irish in the English dub of the F/SN anime...), so yeah.

Nice post! It gives some info for those who don't know about the game and also shows Aksys other threads of people asking for the game, nicely done! BTW, I would buy this day one this game is the #1 most-wanted game for me right now!

since you felt the need to make another i might as well say i would love for this to come stateside.

(OP, you'll find that there is a lot of type-moon fans on this forum and i believe within aksys themselves) :)

I knew their was another Fate/EXTRA topic when I made this one, I even discussed the creation of this topic in it. I just thought that if we wanted to get Askys to look at this game then it would be better to create a topic specifically for that purpose, with some information on the game itself, and a few reasons why I believe it's worth looking into. Not that their was anything wrong with the other topic of course.

I know VGChartz isn't the most reliable of sources for sales info, but at the moment it's all I could locate, of course I don't expect anyone to use only what's listed here, I just thought it at least gave a decent look at how the game has been doing and was worth sharing.

Very nice thread Endless! I'm a huge Nasu fan so I'd love to see this stateside. I already dialed in my support on the Atlus and NISA boards so I might as well show my support here. I'm just hoping one of these three companies gets it. No Ignition please. >.>

Japanese Lancer wasn't so Irish either, and the majority of Japanese can't do accents anyway, at least not in their native tongue. Both Lancers were still great and I would plea for an english track so long as Aksys GETS SEVERAL VOICE ACTORS TO REPRISE THEIR ROLES. I'm referring to Michelle Ruff as well, who was Arcueid in the Tsukihime *thatwhichshouldnotbenamed*

But there's less of an excuse in English, where there shouldn't be a shortage of examples of what kind of accents might be out there to listen for (if not actual voice actors from the countries in question).

But then, I grew up in Ireland, so I was quicker for me to notice it.

to Point it out, the voice actor for Saber can be different. Since, this might be a minor itch, that is Obviously not the same Saber from F/SN. Sure they look alike, but Extra Saber should be a little more nutty.

by all means, have Michelle Ruff voice Beserker.
