I got Growlanser Generations around a week ago and love it.

I also played Sakura Wars (PS2) and love it too.

I'd personally like at least one of these two games in English more than almost anything Idea Factory is associated with.
I know Sakura Wars did badly according to NISA.
Aksys could still make a profit from it, particularly by not adding any voice acting like with Agarest and besides, it takes place in Japan so it would make sense for Japanese people to speak Japanese.
Although it may need to wait until Sony allows visual novels, if that happens at all.
And for Growlanser, I think it would sell well.
Growlanser Generations sold well but only put Working Designs out of business because they (2 and 3) had to be released as one.
Would you buy one (or both) of these games if Aksys (or anyone else) published them?
Growlanser and/or Sakura Taisen?

Hmm, this got marked as spam somehow... Maybe all the links? Anyway, sorry about that. Here it is for anyone to comment on.

And in case there is any confusion, yes, I do work for Aksys. If you have a questions, or care to verify my identity, you can e-mail me by putting my username in front of @aksysgames.com.Posted 1 year ago # -
Yes I would definately buy anymore Sakura Wars games.
I loved Sakura Wars So long My Love and was extremely sad when I learned that because of poor sales NIS America wouldn't bring over any other Sakura Wars games.
Aksys...please bring anymore Sakura Wars games. I don't care what console(or handheld) you bring it to. But please please bring it.
Also if anyone at Aksys *cough *cough Belisarius could tell me the chances of another Sakura Wars coming to the US I would be really happy.

I'd be willing to buy any of the Growlanser games based on what system they're available on. Honestly though, I don't see any of them being released on something besides a handheld anymore so I'd have to pass due to my lack of one. =/
Never played Sakura Wars.

Well Sakura Wars for me was a great game.
But.....many people didn't think so. It was a game mostly about conversation and character interaction. Don't get me wrong it had combat in it, and it was awesome but a majority of the game is just speaking to people. So if that sounds fun, get it. But if you love to destroy things all the time and don't care about a games story/characters then you will not like this game.

Sakura Wars 1&2 is impossible right now. NISA wanted to localize it, but according to an interview, another company had actually beat them to the punch. However, it didn't pass Sony's QA, because they decided that "it wasn't a game". Because it's already been rejected, there's virtually no chance of it being approved after that. So, you'll have to hope a group of fans get together to do a translation patch, because that's the only way it will ever be in English. To that end, I'd actually be willing to contribute, once I refine my programming skills.
Growlanser is actually up Atlus's alley. It's unusual of them, but they decided not to bring it to us. I suspect this is partly because they seem to favor the DS over the PSP, and partly because Growlanser 5 (which was the only Growlanser game they localized) didn't sell too well.

Hollow_Ninja please when you gain the ability, translate Sakura Wars 1 and 2 in English.
And I saw that interview about someone wanting to bring the earlier Sakura Wars to psp but getting denied. It hurt but I still had a small amount of hope left.But....now I'm crushed. Ok maybe I'm exaggerating a bit but you get my point.

If I had a translator, I'd probably do it. I don't know Japanese myself. The two games I really want to look into are Tales of Rebirth (PS2) and Summon Night Swordcraft Story 3 (GBA). Then I'd probably give Sakura Wars a go... it'd probably be really text-heavy.
I don't think this is the place to go further along this line of discussion, though. In any case, I won't be doing anything of the sort soon... it's really only a thought. Though on a bright note, it seems Tales fans will be able to play Graces F in English after all.

Wow! When? How? I want Graces F SO BADLY. Who's bringing it, Hollow?

I keep hoping someone will bring the Langrisser series over. I only got to play the first one... the English Genesis version and I loved every minute of it. Coincidentally, isn't Langrisser done by the same people that did Growlanser? And actually the REASON Growlanser 5 did so badly was because it sucked compared to the rest of the series. Visually I think it was trying to make it 3D and instead made it look absolutely ridiculous... kind of how Langrisser Memorial did when it came out. I wouldn't mind getting Langrisser 1-5 over here again, but whatever that last Langrisser was, just keep it away. ^_^

It really is a shame. It's becoming increasingly likely that the only way to play and fully enjoy Tales games from now on is to either learn Japanese or hope that fan translators both choose to translate a game and don't receive a cease and desist.
Back on topic: Sakura Taisen is unlikely (based on what Hollow_Ninja said earlier anyway), but Growlanser still has a chance if someone wanted to pick it up.

I really don't get why people think they would be impossible for a few reasons:
Growlanser is only published by Atlus in Japan, even though they gave us G5.
Working Designs published 2 and 3, so why not anyone else?
If Namco Bandai was okay with Atlus localizing SRT, that shouldn't be a problem.
Sakura Taisen may be about %50 visual novel, but does that mean it has no chance?
Sony was okay with ST5, so 1 and 2 on PSP shouldn't be much of a problem, except if maybe they're almost completely text.Posted 1 year ago # -

But they're only doing the wii version and they have no plans to drop it and go over to the ps3. Unless someone makes a handy walkthrough somewhere and translate everything going on/dialogues.Check their website again. They're going to do the PS3 version after the Wii version. They've already released a translation patch for the PS3 demo.

We will have to see what happens with PSP in the near future. Its quite possible Sony will loosen up their approval process. Not because of PSP2 so much, as because of PSP phone.
If Sony is serious about bringing PSP to the smartphone market as a platform, they may well open up development. Which will shed new hope for ALL niche PSP games, if anything is any good at all it will get at least a fan translation, if not attention from an indy localizer.
Ofc I havent paid much attention to new PSP phone or PSP2... knowing Sony, they will keep both platforms as closed and difficult to work with as possible, and continue to fail miserably. But there is a glimmer of hope.
In fact if they do open up not only their approval process, but open development model I will probably start developing for PSP myself.

They're not going to open up development. The PSPhone is not a new PSP. It's just a Playstation Phone. So everything you just said is null and void.

Sooo... the PSP phone wont play PSP games?
Anyhow, theres still a chance they will open up. They will have to if they plan to survive in the mobile/handheld market. But it is Sony, so they might just go down in a flaming heap.
