To all, who wants a European release:
The DS is region free, so You can easily play american import games on a european DS. I'm living in Europe too (Hungary, to be exact), and I mostly get my games from eBay or from a UK online store. We do not even get mainstream games a lot here, so I have to order everything online.
I played this recently, and it pulled me in heavily. I really love this game. I'm so sorry Aksys that I didn't buy this at launch.
The game was amazing from start to finish. Got the Axe ending on my first playthrough. After that I used walkthroughs to get 3 more endings. One day I'm gonna go back to get the Knife and Submarine ending.
But I just wanted to say thank you for bringing this over Aksys. This is easily one of the best games I've played this generation.

Belisarius, referring to the watches, I was wondering why there would not be a second run of them? The current watches with games on eBay range from $150 to $200. Surely, even if you were to sell the watches separately you could more than recoup the manufacturing cost to make them even if you sold them for a mere $50. If Aksys doesn't have the interest in selling these replica watches, and I'm sure you may have valid business reasons not to, could you put us in contact with the manufacturer directly and allow us to buy from them?

The truth is, I didn't get involved with 999 until just this past weekend, and I have been playing it every night, getting all the endings and reading all the comments on the story from the writer. I would, by the way, love to have a replica watch to wear. To that end, I have an additional question I pose to anyone reading. I did not see this posted anywhere else, so if I missed it, I do apologize. In the safe ending, I thought it was revealed that Snake was able slip through the (9) door because he shattered his prosthetic hand and left the bracelet behind. However in all the images showing Snake going after Ace, standing up, getting shot again, climbing on Ace and getting kicked in the face, he is using both hands and arms. Granted, it is never stated how much of Snake's arm was amputated and thus prosthetic and the key bone in discovering he's not dead is ulna, so it's safe to assume he could still have the arm down to his elbow. However, that doesn't explain how he could grab or move his hand in the final scenes of the safe ending, or why he even has a hand in the safe ending as he shattered it to remove his bracelet. Continuity error or something I missed? I wish I had been here 9 months ago to ask this question directly to the writer...
Lastly, thank you for bringing such a phenomenal game to the states. This has been one of the best games I have ever played on the DS. I bought a copy for my brother for his birthday, and he loved it so much he bought a copy for his wife. I can't thank you enough. I hope we get to see more titles from Chunsoft and more publishing from Aksys.
TL;DR Y U NO MAKE MORE WATCHES? I want a watch, please. Can we buy them from the manufacturer? And why does Snake have a hand in the safe ending?

I'm pretty sure they did actually extend the period where you could get a watch; they were initially just preorders and then they sold them through their store, so I think they already did a second batch. Limited edition items are just that, unfortunately. Sorry you missed out! I think Amazon had a few bundles left after they were sold out everywhere else, but I have no idea if they still do or not.
As for Snake, I think he just crumpled the wrist so it could slide off? Doesn't mean he destroyed it. I actually can't remember as it's been a while.

This was an amazing game!!! Definately in my number one games of all time! I love games with story and going through all the endings until finally getting the true ending was fantastic. Going through them all made me fall in love with the characters and the twists and tying of thing together blew my mind. The story had everything from suspense and mystery to action and interesting plot details, but what I loved most of all was the slight romance and relationship of Junpei and Akane/June. It would be great to see a continuation of that in a sequel! Especially after falling in love with those two, the story, the emotion, and all the other characters, this game is one that you do not want to be over after you finish it! Simply amazing.
Finally got to this game on my backlog of unplayed games last week and played the hell out of it. It was really fun and I can't stop thinking about the story. I have a few lingering questions, even after having read the Q&A on the official 999 page:

1. Why doesn't Junpei recognize Santa or even seem to know that Akane has a brother? Junpei and Akane were supposed to be close childhood friends. As such, you'd think they'd know each other's families, or lack thereof.
2. In one of the endings, the submarine ending, I think, Akane and Junpei discuss the rabbits, and how they never found out who killed them. Junpei comments on how they were lucky, because if they did find the culprits, they could have been hurt pretty badly. Then, in the epilogue, it's shown that they did eventually find the culprits and Junpei gets beat up pretty badly. Is this supposed to signify that the timeline has shifted somehow?
3. The Cradle Executives have bracelets 9, 1, 2, and 6, for a digital root of 9. If they had all been reunited, they could have killed everyone else and escaped. Why would Zero leave this possibility open?
4. Why are Akane and Santa so mad at the Cradle Executives? Taking blood vengeance over a murder that doesn't even occur seems a little much.
5. Anyone else feel bad for Ace? Being unable to recognize faces most certainly made his life difficult and had a hugely detrimental psychological effect on him. When he kills people without a second thought, it's not because he's "evil", it's because his condition makes it impossible for him to connect with others on a personal level. He has become inhuman because everyone else looks inhuman to him. His goal was to become more human, and his Nonary Game, the one that Santa and Akane recreate, was specifically designed so that everyone could potentially survive. When you add to that the developer's revelation that Ace himself had been forced to play the Nonary Game, it's really, really hard to hate him.
6. Shouldn't Akane's success fundamentally change the entire course of events? If there really is an original timeline in which Akane died, then the Nonary Project would have failed. But if Akane survives by accessing information across morphogenetic fields, doesn't the Project succeed? Doesn't Ace take the data from the experiment and find a way to use the fields to cure his prosopagnosia, making the later events of the game impossible?

[spoiler]1) People I've known for years never knew I had brothers or a dog. You could also say he just didn't recognize him. I mean if you're in a life threatening situation, are you going to remember people that you can't bone when you're safe? 
2) Perhaps it was after the Nonary game. I mean, that scene did happen at the end of their summer.
3) 2 is Snake and there wasn't a 6. Either way that was June. Those aren't Craddle executives.
4) Ace still throws Akane into the incinerator knowing full well she would likely die. Plus, that experiment was inhuman and traumatizing to those children and their families.
5) I feel bad for him being forced into the game. Making it, and then being thrown into it 9 years later would be more damaging than simply being put into it. Let's not forget the fact that someone you killed is there too. Though, what he initially did and how he acts in building Q make me feel he got what he deserved.
6) Who says that would cure his prosopagnosia?[/spoiler]

3) They wouldn't be able to traverse all of the doors, they are separated, half of them are doped up, through the many realities it was determined that they would kill each other, and they wouldn't be able to escape at the end.

@Syd Lexia - I know exactly how you feel about Ace! It broke my heart realizing that he wasn't an evil guy - his views on humanity had been distorted from the prosopagnosia. The developer did say he took part in a game - but it wasn't a Nonary Game (unless you're talking about Aoi and Akane's game, of course). Ace was abducted and forced to play in Gordain's games when he was younger, and that's what gave him the idea to test the morphogenetic fields in a game-like setting. He's such a fascinating character; I could never hate him ( though, tbh, I did in the Safe ending... that was my first ending and I only saw that wicked side of him. ^^; ). But yeah, I just wanted to letcha know I agree full-heartedly with you. :D
