GLOSSARY
▼ Okunezato
A small country town with a population of approximately 2,500 people, located in the central Chubu region of Japan. It’s a crescent-shaped town surrounded by mountains and rivers, with only two ways in and out: the eastern bridge and the western tunnel. The town is full of myths and legends that have been passed down from antiquity. It has recently garnered interest from thrill-seeking young people as a mystery spot, thanks to a website called “The Okunezato Supernatural Club.”
▼ The Okunezato Supernatural Club
An unofficial social networking site dedicated to introducing the mysterious charm of Okunezato, from its old legends to the latest rumors. Its goal is to connect people in search of the truth behind the strange tales. The site administrator recently scheduled an offline meeting for its members.
▼ Okunezato’s Seven Mysteries
These seven mysteries have been established as the most prominent of all of Okunezato’s legends. The “legend of the revenants” and the “violacias” are both part of this group of mysteries. Each mystery has a designated number, but they can be added or removed from the list. The seventh one in particular changes quite frequently depending on the generation, and this number is currently assigned to the newest mystery, “the Okune Panda.”
▼ Fuurinkan Hotel
Okunezato’s sole hotel. Yuzuki Murakumo serves as its owner. While there aren’t many rooms, it is a full-fledged inn with its British gardens, free-flowing hot spring baths, and Japanese-style cafe and restaurant Fuurin Cafe, among other features. Yuzuki Murakumo recently dismissed most of the hotel staff, so they’re currently shorthanded.
▼ Fuurin Cafe
An establishment connected to the Fuurinkan Hotel that functions as both a Japanese-style cafe and restaurant. It not only serves sweets, but also Japanese, Western, Chinese, and even Italian food as part of its abundant menu. Since it isn’t exclusive to hotel guests, there are quite a few townspeople that make their way to dine here as well. The most popular dish is the Fuurin Cafe Special Omurice. Recently, the chef fell ill, and another young chef in his teens has apparently taken their place.
▼ Legend of the Revenants
One of the many legends passed down among the townspeople of Okunezato. When the rainy season ends and summer begins, the dead return to life and wander the town. These beings are called “revenants.” They must kill the living in order to remain in this world.

The living dead from the “legend of the revenants” that has been passed down among the townspeople of Okunezato. The revenants cannot live in this world without continuously taking the life energy from the living, which is why they are feared as bloodthirsty killers.
▼ Violacia
Pale purple flowers. According to the legend, the flowers can be found somewhere within Okunezato. Also known as “corpse flowers,” they supposedly have the power to bring back the dead.
▼ The Murakumo Family
A distinguished family that has run Okunezato for generations. The current head of the family is Kyouji Murakumo. His only son, Yuzuki Murakumo, is set to be his successor. Their large home is located on a hill, making it seem like it looks down upon the town and giving it a dignified air. Very few people have set foot inside the building. The residents refer to it as the “Murakumo mansion” and usually try to keep their distance.
▼ The Summer Festival
A night festival held every year in Okunezato during the month of August. Its official name is the “Okune Shrine Yearly Festival.” There are theories that state that the event was originally held to mourn the revenants that came back to life in the summer, but uncertain whether this claim is true or not. Night stalls are set up from the main street all the way to the Okune Shrine, making it a lovely sight to see. Recently, a romantic tradition has sprung up among Okunezato’s younger population which promises eternal love with the person you invite to the festival.
▼ Brother’s Disappearance
During the summer one year ago, our protagonist Ichiko Hanamaki’s brother disappeared from Okunezato. The search for him has already been called off, and his disappearance was considered an unfortunate accident that took place on the mountain. The reason behind his visit to Okunezato also remains unknown.
▼ AUK ZERO
A super famous idol group that was at the forefront of the entertainment industry for the past ten years. They remain at the top even after one of its members left and set numerous records, but this year, they announced their sudden disbandment. They ceased their activities as a group. They consisted of seven members, with A-TO as their steadfast leader and absolute ace.
▼ A-TO
The steadfast leader and ace of the famous idol group, AUK ZERO. His solo debut was announced immediately following the news of the group’s disbandment. His real name is unknown, and his identity is shrouded in mystery.
▼ LOVESICK
A solo song written by A-TO. It was originally included in a compilation album, but it became popular with the fans, leading to it being used as the theme song of the drama he starred in. Rumors of a shelved version of the song are being discussed amongst fans.
▼ Secret Concert
A secret event held by national celebrity A-TO in Okunezato on August 8th. Apparently, it’ll be held in the Okune Middle School gymnasium. It was suddenly announced at the end of July, but it hasn’t been shared on the internet nor in newspapers.
▼ Okune Panda

Okunezato’s unofficial mascot. No one knows who created it, so it seems to have fallen under the realm of public domain. It gained popularity through the internet, and is now the mascot representative of the town. If you’re lucky, you might just be able to see him in the flesh on the main street, but none of the townspeople knows who’s actually underneath the costume. He won’t respond if you speak to him, but the the Okune Panda as a piece of merchandise or a souvenir is extremely talkative, saying catch phrases like “It’s delicious!” or “I visited Okunezato.”
▼ Tsuchinoko Express

A small delivery service that operates in the vicinity of Okunezato. It partners with most major delivery companies, which helps expand its reach. Since its area of operation is so limited, hardly anyone has ever seen it, which has led to a number of urban legends, some of which state that spotting a Tsuchinoko Express truck is good luck, or that kissing the tongue of a Tsuchinoko will lead to a successful love life.
