STORY

August 2nd, Okunezato – The threads of fate begin to intersect under the blazing sun.

The legend of the revenants that is passed down among the townspeople, and the violacia flowers that revive the dead…

The Supernatural Club members, who enjoyed their offline meeting the day before as they discussed such topics, decide to hold a barbecue by the river today.

As they play in the water and take walks along the river, the town’s policeman, Yasu, arrives to announce that someone was found dead upstream.

It seems that it was no mere accident, but something even more alarming and out of the ordinary.
The members urge the loose-lipped Yasu to tell them everything.

Eventually, an intimidating voice calls out.

“That’s enough, Yasu.”
The person behind the voice is the Fuurinkan Hotel owner, Yuzuki Murakumo. He drives Yasu away, and his next target is…

“Are you Ichiko Hanamaki? Why did you come to this town?”
Yuzuki addresses Ichiko, his attitude far from friendly.

“Your first get-together is some happy-go-lucky barbecue? How much free time do you all have?”
He criticizes everyone in a hostile manner before leaving.
With the fun mood ruined, the barbecue ends.

On the way back to the hotel, festival music plays in the distance.
It appears that a summer festival will be held tomorrow night here in Okunezato.
With stalls decorating the main street and a fireworks show being scheduled at night, this festival is one of the biggest events that only happens once a year in this town.

Later that day as Ichiko explores the area, she bumps into the other members of the Supernatural Club.

Hino Kagutsuchi
“You know that there’s a summer festival tomorrow, right?
Well… Would you like to go with me?”

Isora Amari
“Do you want to go with me? I’ll be waiting in the lobby at 6:00 PM tomorrow. If you come, I’ll tell you a secret.”

Toa Kushinada
“If you don’t want to, it’s okay, but would you go with me?
Oh, I guess I ended up flubbing my line, so please let me do another take!”

Sosuke Tatehira
“I’ll go with you. Let’s meet at that bookstore. No dress code.
Shall we both bring the equivalent of 300 yen in snacks?”

Each of the men invite Ichiko to the festival in their own unique ways.
According to Yuki Hirasaka, it is said that this summer festival began as a way to appease the revenants that appear in town.
But on the other hand, it’s taken on a different form amongst the town’s youth.
“It’s something of a tradition here to invite the person you love to the festival.”
Yuki shares the newer trend with Ichiko.
“Also, Yuzuki wants you to head straight to the manager’s office.”

After taking a bath, Ichiko is relaxing in the lobby when Chikage Karasuma bursts in.
(I wonder what he’s doing here in Okunezato…?)
As she ponders to herself, Karasuma suddenly asks Ichiko for the Fuurinkan Hotel owner’s name.
She answers his question, flustered, to which he says,
“Yuzuki… That’s it…!”
Karasuma exclaims before disappearing into his room on the second floor.

The day ends with a sleepless night…
